It might well be tough. We might of course be in the championship. Yep and that will be tough! Apart from the easy 6 points from the sh** of course.

Now you mention it Div 2 will look a bit easier next year!! The Championship looks a shocker though assuming attendance size does equal wage budget. With it likely 3 of the 5 lowest supported teams: 20 Blackburn Rovers 12.27021 Wigan Athletic 11.59322 Brentford FC 10.328 23 Rotherham United 9.80824 Burton Albion 5.138 Likely to be replaced by the 3 the best supported Div 1 teams by some distance: 1 Sheffield United 21.478 2 Bradford City 18.146 3 Bolton Wanderers 14.5864 Charlton Athletic 11.127 You've mentioned Bradford in a couple of posts like they're home and dry. Far from it I did say "likeIy" plus replacing them with Fleetwood doesn't look so impressive stats wise!! Although Fleetwood pulling back 3 pts on them in the last 2 games will take some doing.

I can't see it being much different really. League 1 is the third tier and every club is there because they deserve to be there.

I think the difficulty will generally be similar, as I believe the promoted sides (Sheff U etc) will be stronger than those coming down from the Championship. However, I do think the promoted L2 sides such as Plymouth and Pompey, will be much stronger than the teams who go down from L1 this season.
Promoted teams often have a bounce in the following season, so I think Donny, Plymouth and Pompey will be tough next year, but what we have to avoid is our momentum running out. See Chesterfield as a decent example in recent seasons of a team's momentum from promotion running out. I do feel we need positive UWE news to keep the positive vibes around our club going. And of course, we have to keep hold of DC!

It will be the same as it usually is, hard and any success will have to be earned. This league is full of Championship wannabes and we will need to compete with them. I hope we don't get rid of players for the sake of change. Of all our promotions and I can remember all except the 50s one we built on what we had achieved in previous years. We have never gone out and bought a promotion team in the summer. Not even in 2014 did we do that although there were many changes obviously. The defence was pretty similar. The 74 team was built in the previous two years under Megson and keeper Jim Eadie and Warboys were added in the spring of 73 much like the way we added Lumley and Sweeney this year, I hope we can keep them like we did the other two. The 90 team was similar whilst the 07 team was very much recruited by Atkins before Trolls improved them. Whether the four teams that come up are as good as the 4 teams that went up last year remains to be seen but in Pompey and Plymouth and Doncaster they all have greater potential and their fans will be expecting a challenge at the top and not just making the numbers. If the Pompey take over occurs then they may be spending as well so I expect them to challenge us. All 3 of the teams coming down will expect to compete. We can't expect to be promoted but I hope we will be competitive and add 2/3 players who make us a better team. If Lumley and another season loan from Sweeney were among those players that would be great but Sweeney looks good enough to go on loan to a team in the Championship and I'm sure some of our competitors this season who have gone up may have their eyes on him. It's not the thread to talk about who will join but we will need to recruit well because the other teams will and to compete we all know where the players are needed. But tbh I don't think it's any different from last season, it will be harder, playing better teams and players and there will be no easy matches. This time around DC (if he's here!) will be more experienced, will know more what to expect and if he's as good as I think he is, he will respond well and recruit what we need to make us a better team. Being a better team may not lead to promotion, it may just be a season of competing seriously at the higher end of the league before failing at the end. And I would be happy with that, if we can keep improving and building then I think our owners will have a common sense approach to it. That's all about the on the pitch stuff. The biggest challenge will be turning the UWE vision and talks into a firm agreement with a time scale and a completion date. Do that and there will be lots of happy gasheads I would think. UTG!

If we lose the 3 biggest teams, attendance wise, and most likely playing budget,Sheffield Utd, Bolton & Bradford how can Div 1 be any tougher next season? I can't see Blackburn or Rotherham being particularly strong and Wigan are hardly a club to fear. I can see next season's top 6 being the teams who miss out on the Play Off's this season plus P'boro and MK Dons if the latter get their acts together over the summer. I'd expect Donnie, Plymouth and Pompey to all make top 10 next season - all have good/big fan bases for L1. I bet their fans and owners will certainly be aiming for promotion. Let's hope we get some fire power to be up there with them !
