You are correct Bemmy, the LMG mag held 30 rounds, not 40. If I remember correctly the LMG was a modified Bren converted to 7.62 cal rounds and the curved magazine made the SLR look well 'ard. It's been 26 years now since I last touched one, would like to have 100 rounds "At the target in front! In your own time! Begin firing!" just for old times sake. Watch and shoot, watch and shoot; then half way through the old favourite "Gas Gas Gas" dont panic apply safety catch and mask in nine - my arrse Remind me not to fall out with either of you 2, your scaring the sh** out of me!

How do you handle a firearm NOT seriously? Go to the States. As baggins says, plenty of people get killed & wounded by incorrect weapon drills in the good ole USA. Never point a firearm at anbody unless you mean too. Slack drill cost lives, Nobby & GH79 will back that up - cabbage heads that they are

With an L2A1 40 round magazine to save time on reloading I may have fired the 7.62 Self Loading Rifle on more than one occasion, combined with the 30 round Light Machine Gun Magazine (not to be confused with Playboy) you could look really Ally. My weapon for deployment in 90/91 was the venerable 9mm Sterling Sub Machine Gun, in nearly six months of deployment not one round was expended from it! Too busy fixing the prime movers of the Squadron to fit any ranges in, just might have had a cabby on an AK47 that was abandoned on the floor in a certain middle eastern country - nudge nudge, wink wink Anyway back to Sunday, I will have a belting hangover from my annual trip to Twickenham on Saturday so hope we give the sarf landon geezers a good pasting on the pitch Rifle drill with an SLR on parade. When men were men!!!

Much smarter than the SA80 though long and sleeker, if not a little heavier.

The yanks had never seen one before. I told 'em to look closely at the Stormtrooper's weapons on Star Wars . Flying back from Dhahran, the Monkeys were x-raying all our kit looking for 'souvenirs'. They were so intent on searching kit bags and burgens that not one of the fuckwits noticed that I had two SMGs slung over my shoulder! ( It was legit, I was bringing a mate's SMG back who had vanished on Comp A).

Former REME tank mechanic, attached to the Queens Royal Irish Hussars out there - We had Col Melly (Arthur Denaro) the man on the telly as our C.O. One of my feckwits tried to bring an AK mag back in his bergan, RMP confiscated it along with the 30 odd rounds. Didn't find the AK's up the breach of 0B though

They never found my solid silver coffee pot! I nicked it from an Iraqi CP, who must have nicked it from the VIP lounge at Kuwait Airport as it's got 'Kuwait Airways' engraved on it. It showed up on the x-ray machine: RMP - "What's that". Me - "It's a coffee pot". RMP - "Why have you got a coffee pot?". Me - "It's a present for me mum". RMP (you could see him trying to think) - "Away you go". Did you ever come across an ex-tote ender called Ray Exon? He joined the REME about the same time I joined up in '77.
