Havent listened yet, but why offer them contracts then? I think that is newblue opinion not DCs Absolutely spot on and that is what these forums are all about - opinions. Not just from DC's perspective but the players are maybe weighing up their options now with the added competition on its way - DC did say there has been a lot of interest in both of them from other clubs. The fact they haven't yet signed and the likes of James Clarke has maybe suggests they are uncomfortable and rightly so - neither really set the world alight last season and have probably reached their level. DC's ambition is clearly to push on and he's said that players will fall by the wayside - not convinced in my mind that either would get into a team with aspirations of a top 6 finish next season - again all about opinions - and I respect yours.

Not sure what point you're trying to make, it sounds like Gaffney will probably sign his contract so what signs are they that he's "uncomfortable", perhaps he just feels he can get a better deal out of DC than JC as he's a striker we paid £50K+ for not just a defender we got on a free, who's probably over the moon he got any contract offer from us.

Good interview I thought. What a top man DC is, but then we already knew that!
Just a shame we have to wait so long for next season...roll on 17/18 I say.

Some have wondered about Stuart Naylor's future now Mildenhall is coming in as keeper coach, from what DC says Naylor is at the core of his team, his core was DC, Stewie, Yates and Naylor; it sounds like Naylor is stepping up / has stepped up.

I would imagine Mildy will work with the youths/U23's to begin with and then do a bit with the first team keepers when required.

I think Gaffney should be over the moon frankly that he's been offered anything. Whether we payed £50k or not doesn't make a blind bit of difference - we didn't pay a bean for BB or DL or CL so that argument doesn't stack up. I did say "maybe suggests" - I don't know more than anyone else but there will additional two strikers extra on the books now that MT has left - both were not regulars last season whilst MT was here. We had three strikers at the start of last season (I think) - he's looking to bring three new in - doesn't that suggest something?

Yep, it suggests you're looking for an issue that doesn't seem to be there, Gaffney's been offered a contact and DC suggested he's about to sign it, if DC didn't feel he was good enough he would have just told him to leave like he did with Monty. Whether Gaffney starts or is used as a sub next season we'll find out come August.

Newblue, Taylor, Easter and Lucas need replacing for a start, so that's your 3.

I'm not looking for any issues as you put it - I'll go back to my original post - I don't think both strikers will be with us next season. You clearly feel you know more than i do - I'm only giving an opinion. No mention of EH perhaps you know something different on him as well.

Yeah - was forgetting Easter although he was only ever a bit part player last season and effectively 'written off" in January - and Lucas was never really considered IMO a first squad player until MT left and of course we had Luke James - forgetting him as well.

Can't understand why anyone would be surprised at us having five, especially as we're not starting with an established player who's scored 20+ in our team previously.

IT seems to me that Gaschat is the easiest place to start a fight in an empty room!

Did DC mention his holiday ,where did he stay ? What was the weather like? Was he wearing shorts to show off his big suntan ? Did DC bring back a present for Weal ?

If MT was under contract it was highly unlikely that James would have been brought in. The four remaining after MT left contributed between them circa 18 league goals between them.

By the sound of it either Harrison or Gaffney or both will be on their way. The players themselves will feel uncomfortable with what he has said because neither do very well at anything he said he wants out of the three front players. Will be very surprised if both are with us next season - doesn't look as though they are in his plans, particularly if he gets the players in he wants. I understand he wants another 3 forwards on top of Gaffney and Harrison. DC said Gaffney wasn't a million miles away from signing his contract offer. Interesting he wasnt happy with two players away at Shrewsbury, and took them off at HT. The GPS tracker showed neither had made a sprint in the first half. (Colkett and Boateng) Did Lines sprint at all last season?
