I was encouraged with what he said regarding Sweeney. I assumed that we had no chance but DC sounded more hopeful than I expected.
He would be a massive plus if we could sign him, even if it is likely to be a loan. DC described him as a "proper old fashioned centre back and there are not many U21's like him nowadays"

Anyway away from the school playground pulling hair! Was interested that DC said he is going for strikers that scored a dozen goals last season, but hit the target on a shots ratio meaning they could possibly be a new 20 goal a season striker, obviously that would have ruled out Ricky Miller, probably wants better value, and not be in a bidding war. Think we will be surprised at who we sign, he sounds buoyant and as everybody has mentioned what a fantastic man we have leading us, thanks John ward. Looks like we could be looking at conference strikers then... www.bbc.com/sport/football/national-league/top-scorersSee that Doidge at Forest gumps was released by us a few years ago, Daggers have a couple of decent strikers by the look of it, should have gone for Bogie like others have said pre Grimsby. Maybe ought to have a word with Marcus Bignot to do some scouting for us, bet he has seen some decent strikers.

He's not an out and out striker as such, he can also play on both wings or in a no 10 role, but he scores goals and is one of those players that would look even better the higher he steps up, if that makes sense. Former Rovers youngster Christian Doidge has also looked good this season from the little I've seen. A target man type striker, I believe DC was interested in signing him in our Conference season before he joined D&R. He looks to have improved since his time in L2, but stepping up from the conference to L1 is a different matter.

James Alabi looks a strong possibility.

Is there a way to listen without iPlayer? Radio bristol will put it on their listen again page soon-ish. Not sure if that requires iplayer, though.

Thanks, I found that ok but needs iPlayer. I don't have that installed and have no room on my phone! Was hoping to be able to just stream it off the internet.

not a bad return goals wise to be fair. You think 18 league goals over a season in total is a fair return for 4 strikers? The four (alleged) strikers - Gaffney - Harrison - Easter & James, with four of those goals coming in one match v Northampton. The original post wasn't well worded (my dyslexia and English grammar) should not have included "after MT". we can take luke james out the equation given he didn't score a single goal, 18 goals isn't bad from 3 strikers put that with taylors goals and you have a pretty decent return .

DCs shopping list, listed by him on the interview - in case this hasn't been mentioned :
2 Gks, 1 Left CB, 1 LB, 1 LM, 1 defensive CM, 1 offensive CM and 3 strikers - makes 10 !! I wonder though how many of these will be for the U23s rather than 1st team ??
All players offered contracts also expected to stay. Harrison, Gaffney etc

Newblue, Taylor, Easter and Lucas need replacing for a start, so that's your 3. That's 4.

I understand he wants another 3 forwards on top of Gaffney and Harrison. DC said Gaffney wasn't a million miles away from signing his contract offer. Interesting he wasnt happy with two players away at Shrewsbury, and took them off at HT. The GPS tracker showed neither had made a sprint in the first half. (Colkett and Boateng) Im never "in the know" but i bumped into steve yates and bravely started to chat to him,he said boateng only put effort into training and matches when he was in the right mood and that wasnt often enough and told other players he was a "premiership" player. He also said that the chelsea loan players never headed the ball in training at chelsea but had to at rovers. I can understand what he's saying - how many times in a Premiership match do you see a ball headed anywhere outside either penalty area - the balls are almost always played to feet or into space. Boateng - weak in the air - weak in the tackle - very left sided - no real pace - long Premiership career - not a chance.
