Although not fully there- I'm towards agreement with boredom. However, it's been posted so let me explain.
The- 'is that so much to ask?,' 'does Wael even have money,' 'why haven't we signed a striker' questions/ messages are largely made up. There's no proof.
1) DC said that's what he wants but he has hasn't given any indication that the board feel different.
2) He said he turned down the chance to do business on deadline day because it was astronomical. He was happy.
3) Since Wael arrived we've had two transfer windows. Hartley was seen as a coup, we paid money for partington, signed burn and Moore. During that time we've lost parkes and McCrystal from the first team. Others were told they were free to leave but did not until after the window. We had a big squad- if not a big budget.
4) There are restrictions. FFP limits bristol rovers. Let's wait the summer- if DC gives it his thumbs up: great.
5) 10th is where our attendances is are. The 3 teams coming down all averaged higher attendances than us last year. Two of the promoted teams averaged higher than us. To spend exactly where your attendances allow whilst building a training ground and fighting for a stadium would be a great effort.
So DC is asking for the most he can, I see no reason to believe he won't get it but if doesn't- if he gets a top 12 budget that's not unreasonable either.
In the Championship you are only allowed to make so much of a loss in the club's accounts. Whereas in League One, the only rules to follow are based on a salary cap. So while we are in League One, Wael can blow as much of his own money as he wants on facilities and infrastructure (not saying he would want to) and still meet FFP. As soon as we are in the Championship, we have to watch what we are spending in all areas, not just the playing side. UTG!
That's a really interesting point I didn't realise that's how it works.
So it does make sense to get everything in order off the pitch now and then have it all set up for promotion to the championship because then we can spend more of our budget on the playing side of things.
Of course things don't always turn out as simple as that sounds but for sure promotion to the championship without having the structure to keep it going will only end up in relegation after a season or two, that's almost certain because we couldn't fund a championship squad and do all the things were currently doing off the pitch too on our capacity attendances at the Mem.
It's just great that we're talking about this because three years ago we were taking about who was up for Woking away.
