I wonder if the sponsors of the trophy - 'Checkatrade' realise how hated the competition is amongst football supporters?
The owners of Checkatrade are Kevin Byrne, Richard Harpin and Martin Bennett, perhaps they should know what people think of the competition they sponsor and how it could affect the view people have of their business?
The contact details of Checkatrade are as follows
Checkatrade Head Office
5 - 6 Sherrington Mews, Ellis Square,
Selsey,
West Sussex,
PO20 0FJ
Tel:0333 0146 190*
01243 601234
Fax:01243 601246
contact@checkatrade.com
Checkatrade Nottinghamshire
Mansfield i-Centre,
Oakham Business Park,
Hamilton Way,
Mansfield,

Tel:0115 838 9190
Checkatrade Newcastle
Metropolitan House,
Longrigg Road,
Swalwell,
NE16 3AS
Tel:0191 580 2900
No doubt Mr Byrne and his colleagues enjoyed a good day out at the Wembley final with the EFL executives but do they know the real feeling among the people who matter- supporters?
I have sent my own message to Mr Byrne and you might like to do the same? and you may know supporters at other clubs who might do so also
somehow this needs to change

Although I agree that the competition format is horrendous and that people may associate the sponsors with the shambles of the competition, I certainly don't hold any personal grudge against the company because it's not really their fault that it's the way it is. If I thought about using checkatrade, it may pop into my head that "they were the company that sponsored that awful competition" but I wouldn't intentionally boycott them like Sainsburys.

AgainstLeague3 will be taking opinion on next steps in the next couple of weeks.
They helped organise the boycott last season and are open to action this time around.

Checkatrade don't give a sh** about football fans, they were very bullish and dismissive of fans last year when challenged.
Best thing is to avoid supporting them and boycott the competition.

Whatever you think of Checkatrade or their idiot Twitter rep, they have struck gold by sponsoring the competition when its at its most controversial.
The aim of advertising is to get your name known and they have certainly done that.
Letters would be best spent on people who actually make the decisions though I think.

Not sure I agree we should be posting contact details on the forum, as it only takes one idiot to send a threatening letter/email and the whole club gets tarnished. The best move surely would be for every Gashead to boycott every game, with none of this I'm going to the game as one fan going won't make any difference nonsense we had last season from certain posters on here, as going to the games is clearly encouraging the EFL to continue with the present format.

Checkatrade and EFL made a number of arrogant responses to fans who expressed their dislike of the format.
The EFL compounded this with ridiculous fines on L1 & L2 clubs not meeting their strict rules on team strength, whilst allowing the U23 sides to field whoever they wanted - English or not, young or not.
The fact that Oxford and Coventry fans turned up in great number for their "Wembley Day Out" unfortunately allowed the EFL & Checkatrade to rub our noses in it.
If the rule changes this season allow greater leeway on team selection, I'd suggest we field a majority of youngsters and reserves for the experience - but don't expect me to turn up for this.

Just don't attend. It's as easy as that. It's a tin pot trophy that we should use for fringe players fitness. If nobody goes, the club can close all stands and the players will perform to nobody which in turn might disgruntle them.

Christ,This season only just over and fans talking about boycotting. We have to go by the majority and get on with it and support our team. The boycotting did nothing to change things and like some have said in some ways got the sponsorers more notice than otherwise. Whilst not agreeing with the decision it will not stop me supporting the team.

Whilst not agreeing with the decision it will not stop me supporting the team. The boycotting did nothing because people like yourself still turned up to attend these silly games , you are not supporting the team in reality ,because eventually this will lead to the ongoing crap tournament and the eventual introduction of premier league b teams into our domestic leagues. It's all about the premier league and finances I'm afraid and if you and others don't boycott it will slowly kill lower league football , like Antonio and a few others have already mentioned if you are concerned about rovers losing Matchday revenue donate £20 to the club when these matches take place.

It's part of the reason the prize money have been bumped up to £3m. Unfortunately it wasn't enough for clubs to say no to the new format.

It matters not if we turn up or not, Money Talks and if this money helps keep some of us lower teams in business then its a good thing
At the end of the day we are just lemmings in a bigger game and what we do or not do will make sweet F##k all to the EFL
If DC said to us fans Don't turn up then i will not go, but that fact that Our chairperson, who represents the owners said we are going for it then thats good enough for me

The vast vast majority of supporters, who are the life and soul of football, are against the inclusion of U23 teams. You can either stand up, object and not engage with this quite dangerous experiment or passively accept things and watch lower league clubs surrender their identity to the Premier League gravy train. Next stop, getting beat by Stoke U23 at home on a Saturday at 3pm.

The future of Bristol Rovers and lower league football in general is far bigger than DC and SH, let's get that straight. This money isn't keeping lower teams in business FYI. It's not money we've had before and by accepting it, future budgets will be based even more so on Premier League funding creating an unhealthy over reliance. What happens when the day comes, and believe me it will, when the Premier League throws another 0 on the end to have their B teams included in the football league pyramid? Does your need to turn up and support supersede the prospect of Rovers becoming the third best team in Bristol, behind Bristol City and Bristol City B/U23?
