What was the worst day for you? Mine was Dover away. I`ve seen worse performances ( far worse ) but to be so close to having automatic promotion back to the Football League in our own hands, and then to lose it in the 88th minute, was utterly dispiriting. Worst car journey coming home, I`ve ever known.

Sheff Wed away the season we went down. Lost 6-2. Never known scrappy shed tears at a football match before.

2nd May 2001, first time we got relegated to the 4th division for the first time in our history. We lost 2-1 at home to Wycombe (of all teams)

In my mind the Mansfield game was by a long way my very worst experience as a Gashead. However, after that, came the away "Conference season" game at Barnet on a very wet Tuesday evening.
I was devastated after the relegation game - didn't even know if I could go and watch another game after that........ I didn't know if I could put myself through any of that sort of mental torture again. I can't say that I was optimistic about an immediate return to League 2 either but I did talk myself into going to a couple of the early games in the conference season (mostly away games for some reason - I somehow couldn't face the thought of going back to the Mem in the immediate aftermath of relegation).
I think that the away game at Barnet was the third or fourth away fixture of the Conference season - we had a lot of new names in the side and I guess I was interested to see how we fitted in at that conference level and what the general level of the football was like.
At that early stage of the Conference Season, life looked dire. We hadn't had a good string of early results but I was still hopeful that we could turn things around. Unfortunately, that game at Barnet nearly put me off of football for life....... The Stadium, which was lauded as one of the better grounds in the conference, was not much more than a nice adjunct to a local sports centre and it hammered down with rain just before kick off - there was nowhere to shelter and I got soaked before a ball was kicked. Barnet were a poor side but they looked a class above our new look team. We were dire. We lost 2-1 (I think) but I am not sure how we didn't lose by 5 or 6.
We really seemed to struggle at the start of that season but that game against Barnet just seemed to drain me of hope - The drive back, soaked through to the skin, seemed interminable.
All I can say is .......... Thank you DC and the team for turning things around so quickly and restoring my faith.

Mine would be the play off games against Huddersfield and Northampton. Northampton probably was worse of the two, to lose a 3-1 advantage was shocking.
Enough said about those games as I have tried hard to forget them both.

Altrincham away. That was the day it really hit home just how bad things really were. Ryan Brunt's last game. He was dreadful that day. They were a player short until a replacement was found ,'As he couldn't get time off work'.What have we come to I thought.

The day we got relegated to L2 for the first time. We had been the only club to have played all their league football in the 2nd and 3rd levels at that time.
