i will be very surprised if DC gets anything like 10 or 11 players... More like 5 or 6 average players and a few cheap loan players Well if he gets 5 or 6 average players(average meaning what exactly?) Plus a few loans let's say 3 or 4... That's pretty much 10 right? Downing signings prior them happening is a bit silly in fairness Henbury. We have signed and retained plenty of "average" players who have done remarkably well for us over the last few years. The joy at the new arrivals under Buckle got us where exactly? DC stated in his interview he wanted players at League 1 level, do you think he has the budget to get 10 or 11 players at that level ?

Don't know yet. If that's what he said then I guess he knows more than us. The other way of looking at it, is that he is testing the owners. All we can do is wait and see.

Just being a realist based on previous bullshit put out into the media Why oh why don't you go and support another Club as everything at ours is not to your liking Can't agree with that. Just because someone isn't happy with all of DCs signings and the amount of money he may or may not have to spend and the long delays and silence from the club regarding a new ground doesn't mean they need to find a new club. It means that the club need to start stepping up to meet expectations. DC has done amazing things for this club but his transfers have always been a bit hit and miss. For every Sweeney there has been a Lawrence. Personally, I have no problem with our lack of business so far, but I don't want us to leave it as late to get in players as we have done in recent seasons either.

So, I've answered my own questions. All 3 players were without contracts with 2 of them being released. Beckford scored 1 goal in 18 last season. All 3 players are in their 30s. If we signed 3 players like that it would prove 1 thing only. The return of the days of offering long contracts to players looking for a final payday, and the abandonment of actually finding talent that is undeveloped. DC has done ok so far hasn't he? Spot on.

All this transparent pettiness started by Stevek's annual early summer panicfest. As every year, most transfers will happen post-June (when current contracts end and agents get nervous) What can people not understand about that?

If we were in the playoffs then the season would still have a week and a half to go. As long as there is work going on in the background then I am happy.

Beckford's main attribute was his pace, which has gone and he has looked shocking the last few seasons. 3 goals in the last few years. Dawson not wanted by Scunthorpe, so there must be a reason and getting on a bit now. Someone said they gave them both 3 year deals as well. If they have that's shocking and asking for trouble. We used to be like that, glad we have changed for the better. Think they will struggle over the next few seasons like that. Not strictly true, he was offered a contract by Scunthorpe, I would imagine the comfort of a 3 year deal was a major swing. They had the option of extending his contact by another year and didn't take it up. Dawson himself and Scunthorpe both said this and he said he would have stayed if they did. They might be changed there mind and offered him reduced terms, or the same after the deadline. Either way if they wanted him that much they would have took up the option. Do we want to give out a 3 year deal for a 31 year old? Or a 2 year to a 33 year old who looks past it?? Glad we didn't offer either player those contacts.

Boateng, Colkett and Clarke-Salter all had quality and made contributions, whilst Sweeney and Lumley were revelations. If we make 5 or 6 permanent signings and the rest are loans there's no reason why that shouldn't work.

So he hasn't done ok? You know like 2 promotions in 3 seasons ok. failed in his choice of players not his coaching ability which is 10 out of 10 So Lumley and Sweeney were rubbish? No manager in the world could say that every signing they've made has been a success but DC has got a good enough record for me with regards to his signings. He also knows when a player isn't what everyone thinks he is like LDV and Dawson.

No he has failed on a few of his choices And succeeded on most - yet more doom and gloom from Henbury! Are you following him about?

Unfortunately that's the problem when certain posters come on here every day expecting some big news story. It is contagious too and spreads pretty quickly.

Oh, and also add 4 permanent signings - Hartley, Moore, Partington & Burn. 8 (no 11) players that frankly contributed very little apart filling up a space on the pitch occasionally. The only two successes were the obvious. To be fair Hartley scored as many or more league goals as our two current strikers in much fewer games. - but probably at fault for as many the other end. We will need the 10/11 players he is talking about.
