Vaughan's had one decent goal scoring season in league football at 28 years old, how does that make him a better footballer than the snake, who had improved year on year for the last 3 seasons with us. To be fair to Vaughan he has got an average of a goal every 3.5 games at Championship level. Not too shabby. Not to dissimilar to Easter's before he joined us, so there was nothing to really suggest he's become a 20+ goals a season striker in Div 1. Perhaps this is the type of player DC needs to sign this summer, a mid 20 year striker who's just been released by a Championship side.

Leon Best and Matty Fryatt both released, at ages 30 and 31 respectively. I wouldn't particularly want Best and Fryatt has had major injury problems the past two years. I'm hopeful DC will get a few decent strikers through the door before the season starts, whether permanent or on loan.

Obscure fact: Bury and Blackburn Rovers, just 18 miles apart, have not played one another for over 37 years since their last meeting in the old Third Division. We have not played Tottenham for more than 39 years (longer than any other league club now we have played Coventry)

Just shows how much we lost by the snake insisting on his release clause, and Vaughan is a few years older.
True, but Vaughan is a much better player. Bury remind me of what Gills did last season. Pushed the boat out, everyone's pre season favourite, but had a dog-dirt season. No time for little clubs like Bury splashing the cash which they haven't got. Relegation fodder in my humble eyes. Not with Lee Clark as manager - think they'll be mid table.

Well with our budget only just being decided and 10 or 11 players to come in assuming the other three who haven't signed yet,do it is interesting to see that Bury have already signed three players and two are players I would have loved to seen come to us- Jermaine Beckford and Stephen Dawson (from Scunthorpe). Of course Northern clubs have a huge advantage with so many more clubs at our level around them but the truth is we probably don't have the financial clout to get players from even say Exeter. Both those players would have been of the sort of quality that a side aiming for the Championship should be signing. I await with interest who our first signings will be but hope that we see some action in this direction soon as in my opinion the "late" signings are generally going to be ones who use us as a last resort rather than us being top of their list. The trouble we have is that if you want a player who has a good goalscoring record then they are going to be a) expensive or 2) have a lot of clubs interested in them.and this is true whether you are going for a striker or a goalscoring midfielder or winger. It may be a case of getting someone like Beckford who are on their way down but have the chance that by dropping down they are able to find the net regularly again. Sorry Steve, I have to bump! UTG!

I have a feeling Bury will underachieve. Lee Clark is overrated as a manager. Done well with Huddersfield when he had money but no great shakes since. Bury seem to be flashing their cocks about and I'd much rather the way we are quietly but confidently, going about things. ❤❤

I still reckon they have done some good business this summer, whether Lee Clark can get the best out of them is a different matter. In fairness to them too, they were missing injured captain Stephen Dawson, Jay O'Shea, Phil Edwards, Eoghan O'Connell, Danny Mayor and Joe Skarz today, all players that should push for a first team place.

There was a bury fan on twitter today claiming Beckford is on 12k a week! Can only end in disaster.

Interesting thread on their forum about the millions they have been spending and plenty of their fans saying it's only going to end in tears.
