Jake Clarke Salter playing for England U20s v Argentina U20s in South Korea in the world cup
Hope he has a better game then he did against Millwall...

He'd have to try hard to put in a worse performance. He had a real shocker that day.

He must have had a better day as England won 3-0.

Totally out of his depth though being expected to mark one of the division's inform CF's. I guess his Chelsea & England are now glad DC gave him some game time.

Come on Wael, there is a deal to be made here:
Re-sign JCS on Loan, and bring John Terry to the Mem to see out his playing days grooming and developing his prodigy.
PS I rated JCS - other than that display against MIllwall.

Inexcusable as a defender, no matter what age you are. Even if you still concede, you should be busting a gut to get back and help. Like most of the original loans, had decent moments but time to move on as not sure he has the DC work ethic.

Overall he played well this season. If JCS was as good as we would like him to be he probably wouldn't be available for loan and wouldn't be available to us. Fact is he is a young player who came to us to develop. He's played a lot of games and he picked up a bad injury half way through the season and no, he wasn't as good as Sweeney as a stopper or as a defender but he will have benefitted from this season. Like all young players he needs to be used carefully and against the Millwall forwards he came up against two of the biggest and strongest forwards in the division and will be better for having played even though it wasn't his best match! I bet he has been told to strengthen up and I expect he will use the Summer to strengthen himself in the gym and generally become stronger and I would be delighted to see him back next season on loan. After a bad mistake early in the Fleetwood game back in November that gave away a goal he recovered well and had a very good game against one of the better teams in the division. He is a footballing centre half and in that match after his mis placed pass he had the CF in his pocket. That showed me he had a bit of character and did well and imo is the type of player we will start to develop ourselves with our increasing important youth development in years to come. I hope we could get Sweeney but if JCS were to come back I would be happy. And if Chelsea let us have him again that would be a very good sign. UTG!

I thought clarke-salter was very poor defensively and was targeted very effectively by several teams especially charlton and millwall. He is still young and maybe will improve but i hope he dosnt come back to rovers myself.

Frankly his performance against Millwall was a disgrace....look at their third goal where he showed absolutely no interest in closing down the player crossing the ball. It was not an error, it was just complete lack of desire / willingness to block the cross.....that one moment alone tells me that he is not the right player for us.....so good riddance I hope he does not come back.

Fair enough its a forum with lots of opinions. I didn't see the Millwall match, just followed the BBC website from Australia. My point was that if he was the finished product then he would have been in Chelsea's squad or at a Championship club. This season would probably have been his first long experience of men's football and he would have learnt from it. In the end it will be DCs opinion that counts. Let's hope he gets Sweeney then the rest will be unimportant. UTG!

JCS is a good player just not "real football " ready. Plenty of goals and misses conceded during his games showed him defending aimlessly. Maybe that was his fault maybe it was the coaches fault or the other players . In several games he was the weakest link and got found out. He will be good though in the future. At present he is just a league one young squad member and nothing more.

Think he will be one of the first announced loan signings.... firmly believe he will come back to the Mem.
One of the lads in our office is supposedly involved at Chelsea juniors in some form or other and apparently he claims they were very impressed with the way we treated Jake when he was injured ....so never say never. Hopefully he will have learnt from last season and will be the better for it. JCS / Ryan / Tom as a back three could work ....

Absolutely spot on. That goal effectively ended our season.

Interesting reading this thread. When JCS first played he looked very good - comfortable on the ball, a good passer and decent in the air. You could say similar things about Colkett too - lovely touch, subtle passes and chipping in with goals. At the moment they are both pretty players - good technique. But they are not match-hardened - and we found this out as their loans continued.
They may both do well in The Champ/ L1 but I don't see a Premiership player in these guys. Personally, I wouldn't want either back because they are further back in their development than say Sweeney. But I'm interested to see what happens to them next season - I reckon on loan to a L1 or L2 club.

Hasn't John Terry (urgh) said JCS will play at the top level?
What I'd love to know is, if JCS was German and belonged to Bayern Munich and the same things were being said about him and he was starting for the German u20's, whether they'd be loaning him out to clubs in the third tier over there?

JCS back in the England starting 11 for today's semi final to Italy after two games on the bench, but they are 1-0 down at half time.

They'd probably be playing him in FC Bayern Munich II in the fourth tier of German football.
