I used to think of a day selling in Plymouth as a nice drive. woukd take me 1.5 hours and no need for an hotel. Cornwall was the one I dreaded and especially in Winter. I didn't really know the place other than day trips before and in summer. The Newquay tumbleweed experience was bad. He'd be fine coming here even if he stayed in Plymouth It's not really commutable but in any case as has been mentioned why would he come here now Argyle have been promoted? Out of contract someone said earlier in the thread. Money and all manner of things.

I know. My point remains, the only way we could attract him here is by offering more money. If DC did manage to capture his signature I certainly wouldn't complain, I just can't see it happening. I guess we can offer him a decent signing on fee on top of his normal wages. I'm not sure how that works for a player already at a club without upsetting the rest of the first team, if one player secures an extra £100K etc on top of his wages, just because his contracts up and there's aren't?

Out of Contract with supposedly a very very attractive offer on the table from Argyle, so I agree he may move on to somewhere else this summer because no transfer fee will be involved but why would he go to a team of similar size and potential in the same division but who presently have a much worse ground and where the supporters don't yet adore him as his current clubs fans do? If we sign Carey you could take it as read UWE is happening.

Although can he cut in from the left, if not, I doubt he's DC's no 1 target.

Forget Carey, the time to get him was when they blew promotion last season...and do we need another midfielder?
Edit: I would have preferred using the £150k towards his contract than spent on Sercombes transfer fee though!

Yes I'm sure he has let it run down for a reason and there's an extremely high chance that that reason isn't so as he can leave Plymouth Argyle to sign for Bristol Rovers!

It may depend on who he see's Plymouth Argyle signing . Whether he thinks they can kick on or whether they may struggle. Rovers he knows have finished 10th already and are investing in the squad to improve on that. So maybe ambition may come into it ? That's if DC is even interested in him......

Plymouth lose players because it's the bottom of the country, miles from a decent city. They may have a half decent stadium, but I've never seen a nice stadium make a good team!! Check the sh** out. Bristol is attractive because of location, and we have a great manager. UTG.💪🏻

If we offered him more than Plymouth then that would be much more likely to lure him than a stadium. Players don't admire the stadium they're playing in they're too busy playing. The quality of the pitch is important to most though if that's what you mean ?

Er No it would mean that the board are prepared to blow our closest rivals out of the water on pay and they would be unlikely to do this unless UWE was happening. Jeeeez!

Jeeeez! b I don't think that's necessarily right. We've got a decent budget for this division now and I'd imagine Plymouth have too, so we're probably in a position to offer the same sort of money as them. If DC is after another 9-10 players then he's clearly got plenty of his budget left and when he starts to spend it over these next few weeks I don't think the UWE has got anything to do with it. Even if we started Building it tomorrow which we ain't then it's at least two years off completion. DCs budget will be based on last seasons finances and this coming seasons predicted finances I would have thought. We beat Charlton to sercombe but that doesn't mean we've got a bigger budget than them or that the UWE is a certainty either, or do you think it does ?

Still not signed probably too similar to sercombe, but would take him if we could.

I wonder if he has a minimum fee release clause in his new contract?
