I have a somewhat related question to the OP. Has anyone else considered that current events in the Middle East might indirectly affect our owners and their relationship with a western country? I know that our fan base is not like Spurs, but I bet Chelski supporters didn’t foresee Abramovich’s hasty departure owing to events outside his control. Discuss.

Would love a new ground elsewhere & the current Mem site converted into a 24/7 Morrisons/Tesco/Amazon depot. Wishful thinking eh Better still, a recycling depot. What could be greener than that! 😂

You say that , but if we play our A game we could realy shred em Could go either way, football’s a game of feint margins. ”Not” if we play with a “hot press”.

Guys I live up here, the whole fan base is estactic. Blackbird Leys (Kassam), which is ironically the roughest area of Oxford (Hartcliffe) is 4.4 miles from Oxford Centre. Stratfield Brake where the ground is being built is 5.4 miles from central Oxford. Summertown is a proper affluent area, it’s your Henleaze, 3 miles from the ground. The towns of Banbury, Bicester and Thame can get a train to the ground. It’s just off the A34 as well, I’m telling Oxford fans are over the moon with this ground. Edit: it’s closer to Witney and Chipping Norton, David Cameron’s old constituency. Abingdon and Didcot further away but they both just jump on and off the A34. They couldn’t have picked a better place, I live in Woodstock, 4 miles for me. Woodstock you say;…you aren’t the 12th Duke of Marlborough by any chance? 😉

On Points West they just mentioned disruption on the railway this weekend with engineering works between Bristol Temple Meads and Bath Spa affecting all London bound trains from 01:00 Saturday through to 04:00 Monday. There is a reduced service, presumably going via Parkway, so give yourself a bit of extra time if you are letting the train take the strain!

Agree with both, white shorts and quarters on the back. It would be easy to make the players numbers on the back easy to read(one of the reasons made against quarters?) White number on blue, blue number on white. …or red! 😳

That was Joey’s comment after the disappointment of missing out on JCH. He said you don’t always get what you want in life but have to find a solution and it gives an opportunity to step up for someone else. Well, Step up they have, both Aaron Collins and John Marquis with two goals in two games now and both looking lively, decisive and inspired. 👏🏾👏🏾 Early days but if they can continue to ‘spearhead’ the attack we may just progress up the table. The whole squad seem invigorated. While many were losing their heads about that deadline day it appears the players and management remained calm and rolled their sleeves up, as much in life things are never as bad as they seem. 👍🏾 Do you think all the hyperbole around JCH and the fans clamouring for him to join, which by inference meant current forwards weren't good enough affected the team and in particular our forwards. My sense is it probably did and now that the "burden" has been lifted they have responded accordingly, bit like anyone being in a job knowing that someone is waiting in the wings to potentially replace them, football is peculiar in that way but they are after all only human. It never ceases to amaze me how some fans treat the players as though they’re immune to real life issues. Ange Postecoglou summed it up brilliantly the other day:

Maybe but to give him credit he does seem a bit too articulate and intelligent to be a sh*thead Thanks. Though I did go to Bristol Grammar School, so the thrush comparison is probably reasonable. In which case you will know the tune: Nunc universo gaudio… …concelebramus cuncti… …dum nostra urbs servetur… …sumus Bristolienses!

I see that Mason Greenwood is looking for a new club! We seem to do rehabilitation where others won’t so would fit in perfectly 😉…if we don’t get JCH.

I just read in Building magazine that Buckingham Group Contracting, who were going to build the UWE stadium, have ceased trading and filed a notice of intent to appoint administrators. They have blamed supply chain problems with the Fulham Riverside Stand and Liverpool’s Anfield Road Stand which now may not be completed. So we’re not the only club with an incomplete ground! Building Magazine? Christ. Lol. It’s for professional purposes only, not pleasure. Now, as for Trout Monthly…. BTW. If you think that’s dull, when I was involved with the design of the entrance canopy to a certain vacuum cleaner company in Malmesbury I started being sent Fabric Architecture Magazine and it’s sister publication “InTents!” It gives helpful advice on how to host “safe and successful tented events”. Perhaps TG might like a copy. 😂

I like the way threads sometimes drift as they are, more often than not, educational and it’s hurting no one. I believe it’s important to get a wide range of opinions to have a balanced view of life. I particularly like this forum because of the wide range of content that is created by humans (some with possibly more than 4% Neanderthal DNA) rather than an algorithm driven platform creating an ever narrowing feedback loop. It’s the bickering that I find tedious!

Was Finlay who should have closed down the man. Grant was already inside after closing down someone else. Grant should of been stronger, didn't tackle the player who then passed the ball out wide to the player who crossed the ball as Finley didn't close him down. The real problem was by taking LT and Collins off allowed pompey full backs to overload us in the wide positions. I'm sure we learn from it. JB said in his “Having a Gas” interview that probably all the substitutes would be used for the first few games as some players would still be getting up to speed following their individual pre-season preparations. So, expect to see more personnel management substitutions rather than primarily tactical ones in the coming fixtures.

Over the years I have come to realise that there is only one reliable free source when it comes to news of this nature and it’s GasChat….eventually, and I’m not that desperate so I’m prepared to wait.
