On the plus side, I decided to put my unlucky gambling curse on the Teds tonight by betting on them to win. In the unlikely event that I actually won a bet I thought it’d soften the blow, but more likely it’d scupper their chances. The win has netted me a cool £50 Billion which I’m fully intending to plough back into the Gas. As soon as I can get him on Twitter or Instagram I’ll be popping in an offer to Wael. I’ve set my alarm to get up nice and early and beat the traffic so I can be at UWE for 9am to get this deal sorted once and for all. I’m going straight for the £35K capacity option. No point in fannying about. Oh and I’ve already secured Bodin for the next 5yrs and paid for Santa’s grotto to have a wipe down for Saturday. The win doesn’t look so great now does it you rosy-faced lady garden?!

This one had upset written all over it. They have so much momentum right now. Their future is looking rosy (especially now we have decided not to provide them with local competition!) Still assholes though!

I don’t think the footprint needs to be restrictive, just need to be creative with the design. They could build right up the edge of the site/into a corner and build access around the ground into the space under the stands (as close to the edges as we can get with the houses anyway!) I think there are stands in the world that have been extended upwards and backwards to even accommodate roads underneath.

An overdue first game of the season for me. I’m not as excited as I should be. The UWE has really knocked the wind out of the sails for me. Left feeling that anything positive on the ground front is 5yrs away minimum (and that’s with a smooth ride on the planning front and we know that won’t happen!) No great progress possible without the ground IMO. Flat is the word! That said, 3-0 this afternoon would help!

In b4 "I heard the players had to drive themselves because the coach company haven't been paid for months! Someone on the terrace told me they're owed £90k and loyal gasheads too and I heard it from 12 guys in the pasty queue and 27 guys in the SC bar so that's 39 independent sources!" 12 people bought a pasty at the mem? As if!

A cosy stadium with safe standing if possible according to wael when speaking on points west. Sounds good to me. Although I'll believe it when I'm stood in it! Cosy = small?!

For this to have any chance of being impressive I'd say the pitch must be turned to maximise capacity and something innovative has to be put forward re. parking. Many of us drive a distance and don't want to spend as long trying to park and then walking to the ground as we did driving there! I still fail to see what opportunities for other income there are there though.

Well you said spin, not me! The owners have more control over timing than anyone else (not complete control as shown by Thursday evenings events). I would have thought they'd have liked to have countered bad news like that with something positive (not spin). Something like "we're not building at UWE, but we've identified this site and here's some initial plans". We are clearly nowhere near that stage. Wael has said nothing. If he's at Charlton, I don't think he's in for a smooth ride. That's all I was trying to say. If you are trying to say he will get negativity or worse, it will kick off amongst our fans. Your view is a minority troublesome one. You only need to read some of the responses here over the last couple of days to see Wael doesn't have 100% support. We have threads titled "fake sheikh" and "where's Wally". If you are calling my view troublesome and that of the minority then I think you are misunderstanding my view! I still support what the Al Qadis are doing and believe they'll get us there in the end. I just think the last few days we're not brilliantly handled and fans will have questions when they see him face to face. That's not the same as "kicking off".

If he plans to be at The Valley today, I would have thought he'd have given himself a chance of a better day out had he announced something positive before the game (if indeed there is anything!) You know when the kids keep asking you the same question...that's the sort of afternoon Wael's looking at! Announced something positive? You see, do you want to be drip fed iot keep us happy? I'd rather honest, valuable information over positive spin. The real stuff is less frequent which is where the frustration is coming from. Well you said spin, not me! We might not be getting a new stadium anytime soon, but can any other league club boast 2 (count them 2) brands of cheese and onion crisps available at their ground?
No, I thought not!
Now that's progress. Go add that to your list OP!

UWE just want a pitch with a running track round it and seats for X thousand to sit and watch. Will give them some sort of bragging rights over other universities. I've a horrible feeling Bristol Rugby will have a stadium there in time.

Me too. I think you have to be a certain type of person to believe this is the tip of the iceberg. I guess I'm not naturally that cynical! Life's better believing good things are coming until you know otherwise! How long have we been friends now? I feel like you hardly know me anymore. haha! No evidence for bad news though mate. We don't officially know pulling out of UWE is bad news. It could have been a crap deal for us and why settle for that. Plenty of rumour going round and that's all that is for now. The only level on which I'm disappointed is location. UWE would have been perfect for us to get to as out of town non-drinkers with kids. We may all look back and say what a good decision this was if we're sitting In a 30K all seater on the ring road with a hotel and conference facilities. Or we could look back on it as the start of the end!! No evidence of which it'll be right now, just theories and rumour!

I am sure some sort of sporting facility will appear on the site. Aren't UWE already in bed with the Duke of Guernsey?... What an opportunity to stick a big red flag in North Bristol.

I think a lot was riding on the UWE stadium for Wael and family. Maybe it was only finally decided over the last week or so, but its strange this came out when club information has been so closely kept in-house since they took over. Lets face it, £400-500k is not a lot to lose in the grand scheme of things Im holding out and believing that the uwe deal wasnt right for the club but i can well understand that people have doubts Me too.
