I thought that we are so far off being a top 6 League one side yesterday that I despair for next season. I genuinely think that we will struggle to be a top half side in 2024/ 25, given the amount of change that will take place. 2 things stood out. We have no perceptible pattern of play. Rigid 4-2-3-1 where we clearly had no 1 and there was no press whatsoever. MT said that he wants us to press, but there was nothing to indicate that that there was even intent to do that. Frankly, I was bored watching that yesterday. I watched the lap of thanks which was frankly cringeworthy given that there was no-one there. I watched MT closely and he was almost aloof, stood alone, apart from the odd word with Wayne Carlisle. He is an intelligent, honest guy, but I worry that he does not have those powers of persuasion, the personality to galvanise players, staff and fan base. Crowds will drop next season, as the optimism is evaporating fast. Mediocrity is our new identity to use modern football parlance. There absolutel was. Granted Peterborough managed it really well. Maybe watch the extended higlights.

Honestly, the bunch of aholes that got us relegated to non-league got almost got as much applause as the team today who gave it a real go second half. Dissapointing season but it was pretty sad and undeserved seeing the team out on the pitch in front of about 800 remaining fans. Peterbrough clearly a well drilled, strong, pacy and obviously better side but it wouldn't take all that much for us to get to that level based on what I saw today. Did Taylor and the coaching staff do the lap of the pitch?? Think they decided against it given most people had gone home so just stood around on the pitch.

Decent game of football without too many big chances. Peterborough have better players than we do at this point in time but we pretty much matched them. Likely the last we've seen of finley and marquis imo. I doubt we'll see any of the loanees back either. Martin and sinclair will be at the mem for 1 more year. Anyone that left before clapping the players off needs to have a look at themselves. Especially if they were happy to clap them off at the end of last season. More points and a higher position yet all there seems to be is doom and gloom. Not the best or most entertaining season by any stretch but if all you're going for is to see perfection every week you can go get a man city ticket. Tired of all the whining bar stewards at the moment. See you all next season, refreshed and ready to go again. It's always odd to me that people get angry with managers on a personal level as if they're failing on purpose. Taylor is clearly doing his best and and decent human being.
On another point the club is obviously not harmonious across all staff and lacks a consistent culture or vision - so we constantly rely on managers to bring a culture of positivity and success. The club seems to want managers to do everything (as DC did) when they should be briging good coaching and management to an already well oiled machine. Until then good managers will keep failing at Rovers if they can't or dont want to take the reins completely (which imo isn't a healthy role or long term recipe for success).

The level of unprofessionalism, the childishness, the negative attention and mockery it brings to the club. And people are defending him?

After all the 'one of our own' chants fans giving Jed Ward flak for one mistake is just pure depressing. MT absolutely right to call for better support. I don't think Ward got much flak on here? He was at fault for the first goal but made up for it with some great saves second half. Somebody said he was getting flak from the stands.

Also seems obvious we didn't revert to "Barton Ball" it's just we were up against one of those teams happy to sit back and surrender possession. Yeah ok so when that happens you play a big diagonal ball to one side of the pitch in to dangerous areas and get your most creative players around your target man and overload that side - percentage football. You have a wing back ( which we played with ) giving width on the other side so you can switch it and open up their block. If we’d done that , won possession in their third played a cross field pass , opened them up and scored I don’t think anyone including you would have been complaining but we didn’t. You don’t play 300 passes across your back line in the hope something will change when clearly it’s not gonna. It’s the basics vs a low block. Taylor and his team can be forgiven for not working it out from the off but over the course of the game we probably got worse at the things we were poor at. But like I said in another post , that style of play generally hasn’t been Taylor’s way forwards so hopefully he’ll have learned his lesson and get us playing like a league 1 side again on Saturday. Yea but teams that play that way (very few higher level ones) play that way most of the time. It's really not for me though. Could have done that and failed even more - especially with players not primed to pay that way. Then Taylor would have got it in the neck for abandoning the Barton way. Any self respecting team with eyes on developing football fit for a higher level works out how to break down a team playing like that without switching tactics too dramatically. Last night didn't have a group that knew itself well enough but it's doable as Leeds showed last night (albeit with a talented and very pacy set of players!)

"Lads, it's windy and raining out there so we're switching everything to long ball"
No manager worth any respect would think like that.
Watched Leeds play quick, passing football to feet and win tonight in probably worse conditions down in Plymouth.

If I was guessing I’d say that area won’t be highlighted as a possible entrance/ exit but as an emergency exit to meet regulations. It’s gonna get v congested in the south west corner when the stand is totally full so I’m happy to see there is an escape route! Didn’t enjoy the feeling the only way out was all the way along the side of the West stand.

You may well be right that it wouldn't work out at Rovers specifically but spare me the hyper-individualist philosophy - communal ownership can and does work in multiple situations. And blocks of flats aren't 'communal living' any more than a terraced street is. Blocks of flats have shared areas where the responsibility is communal, whereas terraces streets have clearly defined areas of responsibility. This was the point, I think. The 'communal' is generally just a service charge that's it. Street cleaning, bins etc also paid for via council.

Losing to Exeter last night further reminds me that as time goes on the more I see fan ownership as the perfect fit for our club. Hate all this reliance on random moneymen. m No thanks. We would be out of business within about 2 years. If we’re losing £2M a year, even if you got the faithful 5,000 to pay that’s £400 a year which would never happen. People moan about £25 on a match day and £5 for a pint. That’s not to even mention the infighting of fans wanting a manager gone, another wanting him in, some wanting a “kick it FERWARDS” approach. When something is owned by everyone, it is owned by no-one. It’s the same reason communal living accommodation like blocks of flats fall into disrepair. Nobody puts in the care or time to improve it because really, nobody owns it and nobody wants to put money and time into something unless everyone else does You may well be right that it wouldn't work out at Rovers specifically but spare me the hyper-individualist philosophy - communal ownership can and does work in multiple situations. And blocks of flats aren't 'communal living' any more than a terraced street is.

Whole new thing going on with the South stand filling up. New pockets of noise and more organic atmosphere making the stadium feel more connected. Will need some time to bed in but feels so much better.
Also more quid a kid please - took the six year old today and it was heart warming seeing the huge number of little ones that could be regulars in years to come.
Only concern is outside at halftime you really feel the bigger crowd and could hardly move beyond the concourse. The facilities and space just aint enough for that number as things are now.

I will be complaining directly to the club out our admin. The bloke is an absolute tool, and makes us, our club look like utter penis'. It's the way of the World now. Social Media 'banter' Every club does it, City did it with the snake, I remember Shrewsbury releasing a video taking the p*ss after we all moaned about their antics. As childish as it is, it's the norm these days. It's harmless. Nah it's really poor for me. Some banter around actual football sure but signing a player? It's a business deal I really don't get what we're gloating about.

Noticed at Wrexham the first thing they did was bring in Shaun Harvey knowing they had zero experience or knowledge of how to run a football club. Who do we have as equivalent?

it was dire last night but it wasn't long ball and second half still better than anything McGhee ever served up. Think we've forgotten just how bad those days were.
Feels like part of an idea that Taylor must be the complete opposite of Barton beyond just general personality - even the claim he's somehow 'posh'.

Packed fixture list, significant injuries/ depleted defence (already the weak area) and reduced squad I fully expected us to struggle last night. Taylor has proven he can get this team playing winning football but January has been a nightmare month. Much more concerned about the owners than Taylor.

Very impressed with the new south stand myself, decent sized concourse underneath, in and out of the gents at half time no issues, a bit to eat and drink with minimal wait, superb view of the dreadful performance & some good noise started by those who congregated at the back. The Thatchers End yoof had some competition! Well worth the tenner and getting out of the tornado that battered the East. ....are the facilities now inside the concourse or still outside/shared with other areas? All outside.
