2 options for us. Keep things as are or go a little more defensive to allow Finley to start. WWYD? Ward Hoole Taylor Baggott Gordon Thomas Evans Conteh Sinclair Martin Brown Or Ward Crama(or JC) Taylor Baggott Thomas Evans Finley Conteh Gordon Brown Martin Would seem crazy to not play Evans given he’s arguably been our best player this season.

Hoole on for Wilson. That makes me a little bit more nervous Looks like a switch to 4-3-3 as well.

Martin has done well, no? He scored again which covers up the lack of mobility and limited contribution. Not for me, move him on. Trouble is Marquis has some mobility but is a limited goal threat. We need someone new to move up. I think that’s harsh. Of course he lacks mobility, but he is scoring goals and I don’t even think the goals are his biggest contribution. His intelligence and link up play is on a different level to most that I’ve seen at this level. If he were to have real quality running off him I think he’d contribute more assists than goals this season, he’s on a different wavelength to everyone else on the pitch and that was apparent today when he laid it off to Finley (who was my MOTM by the way) who then skied it in the first half.

Do we even know when it is yet as I would think this one has a possibility of being selected for TV? Or have I missed the televised games already being announced? I can’t recall how long before they normally announce them.

Anyone who’s there, what’s the formation?

It’s looking again like other than half season of luck (a formation he had no intention of playing and a Geordie he knew nothing about) joey may not actually be that great a manager. I know it will now be a Joey lovers vs hater thing but huge improvements needed between now and December to convince me he can get us out of this division (the right way). Are we even really playing entertaining football? Or living off a short lived past It does make me laugh when, whichever side you are on, people put success or not down to good luck and bad luck. You make your own luck and I don’t believe a team finishes where they do at the end of a season due to good or bad luck, they finish there because it’s where they deserved to finish over the course of a full season. I’m not a Joey lover or hater but if he’s in charge of the club then I will always want him to be successful. Am I 100% convinced he will take us to the Championship? Far from it but I certainly hope he does. But to put the success he has had down to pure luck, will you be saying the same thing if we have another good half a season this year and end up in the Championship?

It was always a sign that he enjoyed his time here and loved the club when he was in the away end at our Sheff Wed game last year. That’s something you might occasionally see from a club legend, not someone who only had a loan spell for a year.
Welcome back Connor and good luck, let’s hope this spell is as successful as the first. UTG!

What I find most interesting is that Rotherham were keeping an eye and remained keen (his former manager). Caldwell still was keen to reconsider it post court case… it sounds like all we’ve done is taken his word and gone early. It’s a bold move… it could backfire for sure. But I’m not a fan of assuming the press highlights are the facts. The club are rolling the dice sure, if he goes to court and gets a guilty then that’ll be contract terminated before he’s kicked a ball for the club. If it’s thrown out/not guilty whatever then we have ourselves a quality player for zilch. As for the admitted offence, there’s so many possibilities in what the circumstances were. Unfortunately some will only roll with the headlines. The situation couldn’t be summed up better than this, top top post!

Great player for this level so great signing in that sense. Obviously been accused of something but you can’t rule someone out on an accusation. If he’s proven guilty then he’s a scumbag and bin him off, until then I hope he’s a great player for the club.

It seems a ridiculous comparison given the differences in recent attendances and recent history. But if you compare us to teams who just a couple of decades ago were playing in the 3rd or 4th tier in old stadiums, you could say Cardiff, Swansea, Hull, Brighton. Our crowds are comfortably bigger than all those clubs were when they were at a similar stage in a similar stadium. Fast forward 20odd years and you put us in a different bracket to those clubs because they’ve all moved into nice new stadiums and have consistently played Prem/Championship football and as a result have got much bigger crowds. The site below is great for looking into these. And you can see all of the clubs quoted above attendances increase massively when moving into their new stadium. www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/englandcontent.htm

The EFL should introduce capped pricing on away tickets in the same way that the Prem have. I do appreciate that ticket revenue has more importance to EFL clubs than it does in the Prem, due to their ridiculous tv money. However, the fact that the Prem is capped at £30 but you could in theory pay £40 to watch your team away in the championship is ludicrous.
They should do something like: Championship - £28 max League 1 - £25 max League 2 - £22 max
The specific figures may need looking into but you get the idea, and I don’t think the above prices would be unreasonable for either the club looking to make revenue from it or the supporter paying for it.

From memory Rickie Lambert said the same before moving to Southampton a week later! You are right and I’m not confident Collins will be here for years to come by any means, after all he has proven he’s too good for League 1 this season. But like Lambert, he could leave Tomorrow with his head held high knowing full well he has given his all for the club and hasn’t forced a move by requesting it or slagging us off in public. That is the difference between between the way Lambert and Matty Taylor are viewed by Gasheads, one left the club showing great respect with real dignity, the other left out the back door with nothing but disregard. I’m confident that if Collins leaves, it’ll be in the Lambert category rather than the Snake.

Really don’t understand why referees don’t get their cards out early in these situations. It makes the game a horrendous watch, even if you’re a neutral. The trick is not to get into the position of going behind to allow the opposition to waste time. Only ourselves to blame this is awful. Fully deserve to get beat today Without a doubt we deserve to lose, but doesn’t mean referees can’t do something about teams turning the game into a pantomime with the ball barely in play.

Very surprised Joey hasn’t made a change yet, absolutely nothing working including the shape.
I think we should go 4 at the back, Gibbons on for Gibson to go right back, Finley on for Loft to help Evans and Whelan, then a front 3 of Collins, Coburn and Sinclair.

I’d put it more down to the fact we left someone completely on their own on the edge of the box rather than the deflection.

I’ve got a good feeling. I think this is our year to have a good run and get drawn a big team in the 4th round, starting with a 2-0 win today. UTG!

I was at the 6-2 defeat in 2010. Not our finest hour. Was it Paul Trollope’s last match in charge? I thought he should have been given longer. All a long time ago now. Yes I was also there that day. Hoskins second was a screamer if I remember rightly, the one real bright spark from that season.
