Charlton are a good side and on fire at the moment at home you have to fancy them. Anything other than a loss will be a good result, Hope I'm eating those words ten O clock tomorrow. UTG not strictly true,. Yes they cam back from being 2-1 down to Wimbledon to win 5-2 on Saturday but the game before that at The Valley they lost to MK Dons 1-0. I expect both teams to create a lot of chances - so it might well be down to who takes their chances and how well the keepers do.

So all of us who took stick about Garner not being very good, were actually right! I thought it was as obvious as it could possibly be that he was way short of the skills to do the job when it took him so long to win his first game with a team who had been 4th in the league when we came in. It was beyond comprehension that he had not only his fans but his disciples!! BTW, Tisdale is now getting top performances out of players he inherited, something the Garner fan club said we shouldn’t have expected of Garner when he took Coughlan’s high flyers on a nosedive, only to be saved from a relegation fight by lockdown! Hindsight eh ! Garner was out of his depth but probably left at the right time. He didn't do dreadfully this season (3 wins out of 12 ? shows that) but he certainly didn't get the best out of his midfielders and attackers - as he was too formulaic with his coaching. Tisdale has released the shackles and added a few more experienced players in the 1st 11.

Under GC and BG, Ed Upson was a player who was infuriating too watch as he never passed forward, only sideways or backward and constantly slowed the play down. Under PT he has clearly been told to face forward and play forward and this has transformed his performance and that of the team. He has the skills and now he is using them to positive effective. Today was not our best performance but the skills level are so so much higher than what we have been served up for the last couple of years. Nicholson looks a fantastic signing, McCormick the first loan signing for a long time that really stands out. Westbrooke is playing well and deserved his goal and Grant alongside Upson offer a really solid platform. Great effort today from Jordi who should take confidence from this. We are turning the corner and heading up the table. UTG Upson played well under GC too and was always appreciated by the supporters round me on the East Terrace, but yeah he's popping up everywhere and could score a few the way he's going.

The 1st half was a brilliant advert for L1 football. It was end to end - lovely passing moves, dynamic play , goals, near misses and scrambles. I love our quick free kicks, and our slick interchanging passing moves. Thought Plymouth were unlucky to lose by 3 but we deserved it. And yes JVS can be proud he kept a clean sheet - I might get shouted at for this but for me he makes a meal with some of his saves BUT as they say you've got to be in the right place to save them.
Charlton on Tues could be tasty !

Van Stappershoef 7.5 some good saves and catches
Ehmer 6.5 steady and reliable Kilgour 6.5 great header but he was all at sea in the first half, better in 2nd Baldwin 8 very good. seems more determined, passed it well Leahy 8 very good. thought his decision making was spot on.
Grant 7 Mr reliable Upson 8 very good, unlucky when he hit the post. seems to pop up everywhere lately
Westbrooke 7.5 great to see him score, made some very good runs McCormick 8 lovely finish, looks so cool on the ball Nicholson 8.5 was fairly quiet 1st half, but became more of a threat in the 2nd. scared their backline frequently as the game wore on.
Hanlan 7 good game, close to scoring with his lefty effort.
Subs: Ayunga 5 oh dear, what a shot ! Hargreaves 6 did quite well, tidy play. Barrett
Ref 7 let a few fouls go for both sides. Plymouth 7 weak at the back, but they carved us open frequently in the first. God knows how they didn't get at least one.
We were quick out of the blocks today and scoring first made all the difference. The 1st half was a brilliant advert for L1 football. We were exciting going forwards and so were Plymouth. The 2nd was mor about keeping Plymouth out, but we woke up a bit when the subs came on.

Upson had a very good game, but for me Oztumer was the star. He was everywhere and some of his ball control was world class. The highlight for me was when he was surrounded by 3 Wimbledon players and somehow he came out with the ball still under control and did a beautiful lay-off. This was the 'Turkish Messi' that I used to admire when he played against us for Walsall. The problem is going to be who to play when Daly becomes available, because you can't leave out Nicholson and he will be wasted in a 'less forward' role. Also, do you drop Westbrooke for McCormick when/if he's fit, because they both add different things. Not sure you can drop anyone after yesterday but I really rate Daly, so I hope he's back in for the nothing Cup on Tues so he can add competition for the league games. Westbrooke made lots of good runs yesterday but his passing and finishing aren't really firing (yet).

Upson’s biggest issue is his consistency. Barring one year when he ran the Yeovil midfield to the championship, he has always lacked consistency. There is absolutely no doubt he is a good player, but you only see it 5 games out of 44. That’s the frustrating thing with him, you never know which Upson is going to turn up. erm !? I think it's some supporters on here that lack the consistency - we win a game well and suddenly everyone's a hero , then we lose like we did v Fleetwood and The Gills and surprise surprise the usual scapegoats, Grant and Upson are labelled as not worth having at the club even though it was more likely a poor TEAM performance.

TI kept away from here after Gillingham match because I knew what it would be like. They did a proper, professional (?) job on us on Wednesday. Evans got inside the referees head by criticising everything. Their defenders tackled Hanlan, just enough to stop him but avoid cards, McCormick was singled out for some very tough treatment and got no protection from the referee and when he went off at half time they would have been happy. He had been effective and we weren’t very good after half time. We had some good chances and had we taken them we would have played on the front foot and perhaps have won. We do struggle if we go behind, unless we strike back quickly. But we weren’t awful just as we weren’t awful against Swindon but we were disappointing. Tis has to be given time to do more of what happened today and in January and the Summer he will change us gradually. I won’t say everyone is wrong but I do think that the players we have now are probably technically better, are capable of being more creative and have made us a stronger club. What we do have though is probably an unbalanced squad with too many players who won’t play, too many full backs, a few midfielders who will struggle for game time but a striker or two short (made worse by Ayunga’s injury). Give our current players a better system of playing, get them playing to their strengths and playing on the front foot and we will be ok. Despite the stick he takes and the non protection he gets from referees Hanlan has been very good. I think he has 7 (?) now and I remember posting that if he got 10 by the new year I will be happy. He’s on course for that and I think that would be a good return. On Wednesday I think Evans knew what to do to either wind him up or deal with him and he put a player on him and had one in reserve to deal with him when he got the ball. Just as I don’t think we’ll get to the play offs after today neither did I think we’ll get relegated after Wednesday. Tis needs time I’m sure the owners will give him that. UTG! Good points Wareham. I don't think Hanlan was being fouled - he was up against a good defender. It's a physical game and you have to be strong and deal with it. Gills had us because they knew we are not physically imposing at the back and so put 3 big bastards up front and by-passed the midfield. If you noticed it was like the last 15 minutes of the game in the first 15 ! balls pumped quickly to their 3 who did well enough to get their 2 goals - it could've been more. We hardly had any chances inside their box, the more the game went on - but not without trying to the end.

Including loans I think Garner signed 17 players: Harries - Useless Barrett - Never Fit Daly - Promising Baldwin - Useless Ehmer - Disappointing Tutonda - Defensively Poor Koiki - Unsure Liddle - Unsure Grant - Disappoinnting Westbrooke - Abysmal McCormick - Promising Mitchell-Lawson - Disappointing Oztumer - Unsure Jones - Unsure Nicholson - Very Good Hanlan - Decent Ayunga - Unsure In my opinion Nicholson is the only one of Garner's signings that would get in most other league one sides. I like Daly and McCormick. Hanlan is a bit of a rough diamond but I'd keep him. Haven't really seen enough of Liddle, Koike, Oztumer, Jones and Ayunga. Wouldn't be sorry to see any of the other 8 leave. Harries - Is a ball player centre back but prone to mistakes, has had poor games but also looked our best defender in others. worth keeping as cover Barrett - Never Fit - agreed, but now back playing do we need to give him a chance? Daly - Promising - works hard and scores goals worth keeping Baldwin - Useless - makes mistakes but I think we need to give him more time Ehmer - Disappointing - agreed but he looks like he can play, Toady at full back had a great game, needs to be more vocal Tutonda - Defensively Poor - but when he was on form going forward a great wingback, probably he goes if we go to 4 at the back Koiki - Unsure - Hard to see what the excitement was about looks very average Liddle - Unsure - Not seen enough of him Grant - Disappoinnting - I take the opposite view breaks up so many attacks and can pass the ball definitely worth keeping- needs more time but will be a great player for us Westbrooke - Abysmal - Give him a chance its unusual to have players that actual control the ball and don't give it away but we to be patient, he is a Chris lines in the making McCormick - Promising - Great signing rarely do we see loan players that contribute more Mitchell-Lawson - Disappointing - agreed time to send him back Oztumer - Unsure - so was I but he is coming good Jones - Unsure - He is still at Weston I think! Nicholson - Very Good - fantastic signing Hanlan - Decent - Great signing Ayunga - Unsure- Agreed haven't really seen him I really think we have bought well we have the making of a really great team. A full memorial stadium backing this team will transform us. For two years we have watched defenders that can't pass, midfielders who only go back and an attack dependent on just one player. Yes we have gaps but lets not tear up the team sheet and start again. We need an extra striker or two. So I think 3 out and 3 in. Possibly Tutonda, Kelly, Mitchell-Thomas. Would have said Leahy but today he did enough. Nice post Lisbon and a agree with about 95%. I really rate Tutonda - would have him ahead of Leahy any time. Leahy is steady, has a nice left foot - although overdoes the long ball for me, and he doesn't defend well especially stopping crosses. I wonder what's happened with Dave - injured ? As you say Koiki, doesn't look anything special (so far).

Holy mother of Mary. What a right back we’ve signed. He looked brilliant in that position. Such good link up play. He’s a really skilful footballer. Very smart move by PT, he seems much better there than in the middle. He’s wasted as a centre back on that performance. Handy for the defence to have a tall additional defender on the flanks. Although based on their 2nd of goal we have a way to go in defending set pieces Agree completely, but this is one game and today Wimb did not have a player on the left at all today. If we come across a different team with a skilful, pacy merchant down his flank it might be a different story as Ehmer isn't blessed with pace. Anyways, I'd keep him there for now, but would prefer to see a specialist playing there -i.e a fit Mark Little - he was looking very good at the start of the season and then another injury.

Harries Kelly grant Westbrook Lawson baldwin Would also send otzumer back in jan Just can't see him getting much game time in a 442 if the centre midfield has to stop being a soft centre I think today's game proves otherwise! Well, can't resist this but he's got a crap name and his biro also produces a load of crap ! sorry mods - forgive me !!

Isn't the defence the big problem with the squad ? If we had better defenders we would concede far fewer goals and we would probably be in every game even against the better teams!? Baldwin and Harries have too many mistakes in them. Ehmer is average. Leahy was described last season by most of you as the weak link defensively. I honestly think Tutonda has been the best in that position this season (she injured now ?) .Tis has to wheel and deal and get a couple out in Jan and get a taller physical presence in the centre - a Bolger -type player. Ehmer or Kilgour could partner him no problem in my view. Hare is not solid enough at RB - neither tackling nor defending, his general passing is poor too - just hope Little will be back soon to take over from him. The midfield and attack (when all players are fit is easily mid table or better). Can I blow my own trumpet !?

Right, one swallow doesn't make a summer and all that BUT that was a brilliant attacking display today !
One touch and movement, driving forwards , both out wide and through the middle, creating so many chances and some brilliant goals. With that, playing the ball around and keeping possession for a couple of minutes at a time, it seemed. I was purring - ha ha !!
So when did we last play like that. can't remember ever with DC. I'd have to go back to Trolls' days - the Lincoln play off game and a few in L1 when we demolished Southend with Lambo bagging 4.
What do you think ?

Jaakkola 7.5 one very good full length save, also released the ball quickly
Ehmer 8 Wow ! passed it and combined with team mates well Kilgour 7 won a lot of headers Baldwin 6 doesn't get close to attackers ! Leahy 6.5 steady going forwards, but doesn't block enough crosses - how did he not stop the one that led to the penalty right on the goal line ??
Grant 8 very efficient, one lovely turn away from their player Upson 8.5 gutsy in the tackle, stylish on the ball and fab assist for the 3rd
Westbrooke 6.5 better than recently, but wasteful with free kicks but did take part in 2nd goal. Oztumer 8.5 everywhere, and more quality Nicholson 9 caused so many problems for their backline, what a brilliant 1st goal - will that be bettered this season ?
Hanlan 8.5 boom boom - 2 cracking finishes
Ref 8 did well Wimbledon 4 totally outplayed but still dangerous when they attacked.
Best attacking display I've seen by Rovers since Trollope's team with Lambert, Lines, walker and Campbell !!
