If we can just replicate Tuesday nights first half performance for most of the game today then we should come away with the 3 points.
I'm going for 3-1 win, Nichols, Sercombe and Rodders on the score sheet.

Although a bit of a bogey ground for us I'm quietly confident. Team for me would be Bonham THD Craig Locks Parts Sercs Clarke Ogogo Rodders Clarke-Harris Nichols I know Sercs is wasted on the left but I can't think of anyone better and he has to start for me. Classic 4-4-2 or if we put Sercs as an attack CM then 4-3-1-2 but could be too narrow. Bench Smith (although I prefer slocombe and I thought Smith might go out on loan), Osho, Lines, Kelly, Jak, Reilly, J Clarke .... Reckon we'll win 3-1 Nichols, Clarke-Harris and Rodders I can't see GC deviating from 4-4-2 so Sercs will have to get used to playing from the left. I think it's still well balanced because we'll have a 'stay at home' right back with Rodman hugging the touch line and on the left an overlapping fullback in THD which would work well with Sercs tucking in a bit. Personally I'd go with James Clarke at right back. He's probably been player of the season so far and Parts hasn't done enough in the last two games to warrant selection IMO. Otherwise I reckon you've got the team spot on. Liking your logic there. We could play J.Clarke away (slightly more defensive) and Parts at home. Would love to see Parts regain the form he had at the end of last season and I think he's getting there as his match fitness improves, he's got a decent cross in his locker and even bagged a few goals last season as I recall.

Looks like Johnson, Clarke & Harris should all be able to suit up. Not bad business eh? 3 for the price of 1!

Have we got 11 players left to field a team ? Lol 🤔 It’s a good point. As it stands: Bonham Smith Slocombe Leadbitter Partington J Clarke Lockyer Craig Osho Kelly Holmes-Dennis Sercombe Lines Upson Sinclair O Clarke Matthews Rodman Nichols Jakubiak Reilly So, I make that 18 outfield players. Can afford to offload Smith too.

Why before 5/6? Why not 3/4? Or even 10/11? Think that’s when the window closes Oh ok, I think it closes at 11pm tonight, hope I'm right!!!

Might be alone in this but I’ll be very disappointed if we’ve let Payne go without replacing him before 5/6pm. Why before 5/6? Why not 3/4? Or even 10/11?

This is good news, hopefully Ellis now replaces him. Please God no. Had we not lost Ellis in the summer I honestly believe we would not be at the bottom of the table right now. Player of the year last year imo.

Great post!
My only slight frustration last night was that GC did not use our third sub. It was plain to see that we were under the cosh and the midfield was being overrun. Imo he should have brought Upson on as this would have disrupted their play. At 90 mins he really should have made the sub just to wind down the clock if for no other reason.
Left feeling very frustrated that we could have been 19th in the table instead of 23rd but really enjoyed the game and thought we played them off the park in the 1st half.
Well done to the boys & GC, keep that up and I think we can survive.
UTG!

I don't think they have been that great either but I am absolutely amazed that people believe that the defence is where the main problem lies and that dropping Locks as captain will help solve the problem. What about the fact that most of our goals this season have come from defensive players, that surely it's one stat that cannot be disputed Hugo... Ollie Clarke 574 mins per goal 2297 mins played 4 Goals scored Tom Lockyer 673 mins per goal 2018 mins played 3 Goals scored James Clarke 1062 mins per goal 2123 mins played 2 Goals scored Tony Craig 1239 mins per goal 2478 mins played 2 Goals scored Alex Jakubiak 477 mins per goal 954 mins played 2 Goals scored Chris Lines 508 mins per goal 1016 mins played 2 Goals scored Stefan Payne 589 mins per goal 1178 mins played 2 Goals scored Gavin Reilly 434 mins per goal 868 mins played 2 Goals scored Alex Rodman 577 mins per goal 1153 mins played 2 Goals scored Liam Sercombe 764 mins per goal 1528 mins played 2 Goals scored Ed Upson 879 mins per goal 1758 mins played 2 Goals scored Kyle Bennett 170 mins per goal 170 mins played 1 Goals scored Tareiq Holmes-Dennis 413 mins per goal 413 mins played 1 Goals scored Joe Martin 712 mins per goal 712 mins played 1 Goals scored Tom Nichols 180 mins per goal 180 mins played 1 Goals scored Shouldn't you be in the pub enjoying a few Sunday beers? No, Sunday beers are not for me, but I could have been as the stats are on the BBC website, just copy paste simples!

According to the stats I have just looked at online we have the 6th best defence in the league and we have the second worst offence in the league. So to be honest I don't give a monkeys whether you are standing or sitting on a match day, this tells us where the real issue is. I'm not saying the defence should not get any blame, for me both Locks and Craig's distribution is extremely poor which does not help our offensive play but during a game there are plenty of opportunities going forward that we don't make count and that is not the defence's problem. The other stat that backs up what I am saying is the fact that most of our goals this season have been scored by defensive players. If it wasn't for those goals we'd be dead and buried already. Stats can be misleading. I could use Bonham's MOTM stats to say that he has covered over how poor our defending has been all season for example. For me, our only decent defender all year has been James Clarke. None of the rest of them have been that great, despite the stats. I don't think they have been that great either but I am absolutely amazed that people believe that the defence is where the main problem lies and that dropping Locks as captain will help solve the problem. Sorry but our defence is not the main problem here, it is the lack of creativity going forward and the lack of quality finishing. If we're going to bash any players it should be those forward of the back line. It is because Craig is so slow, he sits a yard or 2 further back than he needs to, which sucks back Locks and creates a void between the midfield which we have to fill with a DCM. Which then sucks the creativity from the middle of the pitch. I’m not sure if you watch from a seated position, but if you do, you should be able to spot that a mile off. Wycombe yesterday weren’t that creative, but Jombati was so confident and tall it meant they picked a much higher line and it meant that their midfield was the first to every ball and they drove forward at every opportunity. It should have been 2-0 to them as well but some how their striker managed to miss from 3 yards with an open goal and actually sent the ball backwards from under his foot. According to the stats I have just looked at online we have the 6th best defence in the league and we have the second worst offence in the league. So to be honest I don't give a monkeys whether you are standing or sitting on a match day, this tells us where the real issue is. Will be very interesting to see the line up GC selects on Tuesday night.
Nothing to lose by bringing in as many development squad players as possible imo.
Menayese, Russe and Kavanah should definitely be given game time, pity Kilgour's loan has just been extended as I would put him up front as well. He couldn't do any worse than Payne!

Surely it's possible that it was neither the boards decision or GC's. It could be Broadbent who has asked to leave or go out on loan. If you read Hargreaves interview in the BP he clearly says that they don't want any players to leave:
"If you want to leave because you don't feel you're getting enough games or you feel you need to protect your family and your future then we're all men, we would listen to it because we don't want to stand in people's way.
"Conversely, if there's a player that we think can help us dramatically, we'd have to look at it and the squad as a whole would expect that, that's what the game is. It's trying to win football matches and they understand that but I don't want to see any player leave the football club because we want to work with them and we think they can benefit the club.
In some instances it's out of our hands, again that's football."

I think this Holloway interview is not really in our best interests. It clearly shows that the club didn’t conduct a thorough interview process, and if GC doesn’t work out then there will be a hell of a lot of finger pointing as to why we didn’t do this. A handful of games and a decent impact, and that justifies not interviewing people? Not sure about that. Unless Holloway wasn’t one of the people interviewed but that would be a bit strange. Pirate - was Garner interviewed do you know or was that the rumour mill turning? For the record I’m fully behind GC and pray we get out of this mess and finish 20th. It doesn't "clearly" show it. It only shows that IH was not interviewed, that's it, nothing more nothing less.

He's won f**k all yet. How about we just calm down and see how we get on. Right this is personal opinion but having watched the dire performances I did not see where the next 3 points were coming from under clarkiola. So that's why I am impressed. Have to say I'm a big DC fan and really wanted him to stay as I believed he could turn things around but in hindsight it was right decision for us to part company. GC is a breath of fresh air isn't he? Back to basics, a straight talker, has a no nonsense approach, comes across as a great motivator and man manager to me. All of his energy is focused on the job in hand which is keeping us up. Yes, it's clear his expectations regards to the off the field progress are low but to be honest what we need right now is to survive this season, consolidate our L1 status and steady the ship.
