Here's a question.... Do the SC still own any assets of BRFC that they previously raised funds for before Wael was the owner? If not then why do they feel the need to retain control of the £50k? Yes, they own approx 4% of the shares so own approx 4% of the assets of Bristol Rovers 1883 ltd I'm taking about individual specific assets, i.e physical items such as goal posts, dugouts, tunnels, tables, chairs whatever

No goals scored but they've kept 3 clean sheets, given that were not very good at scoring this has 0-0 written all over it but I'd happily take a point from this one as it's not been a happy hunting ground for us.

Surely got to stick with the same team if fit. Can't drop Finley or Grant for Coutts IMO (maybe don't let us down again captain!). Loving all the Grant support, not many of us were backing him last season. Nicholson and Pitman from the bench until they are fit. Agreed, Pitman is a long way from being fit. He made me chuckle last night when a ball was put into the left channel, he and Nicholson were chasing for it from slightly different directions, Pitman was closer than Nicholson but he waved at Nicholson to chase it instead of himself! Yeah, I had a laugh too, it was like he was speed walking around the pitch instead of running! 🤣

79 sent me a link to the Oldham forum owtb.co.uk. It looked like I was reading GasChat for the last 18 months for the most of it but this stood out Quote from daniel "These have easily been the best side I've seen this season" but he also went on to say "but by god they are cheating bast'rds! When you see their boss you are not surprised though, nasty small man" Daniel - if by chance you should see this - I've had 50 years of watching Northern sides come to us and cheat their way to a result. One Andy Lochhead comes to mind, playing for a certain Oldham Athletic, knocking a goalkeeper senseless. So you'll forgive me if I treat your comment with a certain amount of derision. Notwithstanding this I didn't see any cheating behaviour by us anyway, Collins was booked for a dive when he was still on his feet, we had numerous penalty appeals waved away by a poor ref and Oldham spent half of the game time wasting!

You sure he wasn't taking about the refereeing as to say that about our performance would be sheer madness?!

Thoroughly enjoyed that last night.
Getting the win and 3 points on the board is of course a huge relief. But apart from that I was entertained in the first half and had almost forgotten that feeling of excitement when your team is on the attack and creating decent chances. I can't honestly remember the last time I celebrated a goal at the mem but it must have been a very long time ago!
Really hope we can build on this now and keep this going forward.
I'm not a fan of JB but will give credit where it's due and I can see that the summer recruitment has been very good and there's clearly even more to come from the group. As others I was particularly impressed with Collins, Saunders, Anderson and Finley but I like the look of Belshaw and it was really good to see Rodders back to form.
For the first time in ages I'm actually looking forward to the next game, just keeping my fingers crossed that we can maintain and build on this and not take a step backwards. So many dashed hopes over the last 18 months I'm almost scared to believe.
UTG!

Lucky 1-0 Gas win which papers over the cracks and gives us all false hope only for normal service to be resumed Saturday which will continue until Christmas when Joey's team is expected to finally gel

Has he ACTUALLY refused to play? It seemed from reading that that Hanlan has had his head turned, but that Barton is preemptively wondering if Hanlan might choose not to play, not that he actually has refused to play? Either way, Barton is saying too much and it won't do anything to help the player or the club's cause to gain maximum value for him. Barton is a smart guy but his blabbermouth does neither himself nor the club any favours. This... You've hit the nail on the head!

Agree with the OP's positives from yesterday's game. The only other I can think of is seeing Nicho, Rodders and Collins get some minutes although it's ironic that getting them on as subs appears to have cost us the game.
In terms of the wider picture, I just don't feel positive at all and I say that as someone who is a glass half full type of person!
How on earth have we gone from the top of L1 to the bottom of L2 in the space of a year and half? It's mind boggling to me, it really is!

Anderson, Hoole and Finley positives to me. Grant at times showing he will be great, with coutts and Finley alongside him that could be decent. Need fullbacks and obviously a striker or two. Definitely need another striker but I really can't see there being 4 more through the door before the window closes, we're already over the squad size limit as things stand

Don't forget that Joey's new squad will need until Christmas to gel so we'd better get used to being at the bottom of the L2 table for the foreseeable future

Our subs today (Nicho, Rodders and Collins who arguably are some of our best attacking players) should have made us stronger yet they had the opposite effect! Really looking forward to the post match interview later.... just remember.... a) Rome wasn't built in a day b) they need time to gel c) it won't be long until Christmas d) the refs a ....oh no sorry can't use that one today As the other poster suggested removing Finley made the CM so weak we then got overrun, I doubt any of us would have selected a CM pairing of Hargreaves and Grant! Have Clint Hill and Westbrook eloped together, if not, then what's happened to them? Grant and Hargreaves are midfielders aren't they??? Ok, fine, that's the excuse you're hanging your hat on for our abysmal performance and defeat then fair enough. For me I witnessed us playing turgid timid football without having the run of the midfield (even when Finley was on) and we spent most of the game playing backwards and sideways. The only save I can remember their keeper making was a shot on goal by their own defender which was the closest we came to scoring a goal in 96+ mins!

Thing is it isn't going away. Innocent or not, if he takes to the dugout for us, he is going to get pelters more than ever from opposition fans and even some of our own if things start badly That's never going to end well. The red mist will descend and chaos will follow. The red mist will descend and the red cards will follow!

The club were able to sack DC, BG and PT without needing to justify itself, if they wanted to part ways with JB then I'm sure they could, I'm no expert on football manager contacts but I expect their is a clause that allows either party to terminate the contract if they wish. There may be a cost associated with doing that of course but it's a decision that is open to the club I'm sure. Most of us have signed a contract in the past that has stipulated failure to comply with the laws and statutes of the country will result in instant dismissal with no compensation due or right of appeal. Sacking him now would mean he was entitled to a pay off and may also prejudice his case, we have a history of waiting for the result of legal proceedings before acting, so when Junior Agogo was acquitted we could continue to play him and when Pipe was sent down we dismissed him. Wales took a different approach with Giggs and suspended him from duty until after his case is settled but he does not have quite such a hand in running things there. We’ve given JB Carte Blanche to sign and dismiss players, coaching staff, support staff. He’s responsible for patterns of play, training schedules etc. Suspending him now makes the rest of preseason directionless. If he’s not allowed to communicate with Clint & co. whilst suspended then we can’t sign anybody because we told him he had full control over that…so that’s no experienced striker coming in. Luckily TW is in charge of the outgoing loans so he can at least get the overage fringe players a temporary home that means they get some game time without taking up a place in our squad…but we tread water until December if we suspend him and we pay more compo if we get rid now. Given a lot of the new players have come primarily to work with JB maybe they get that opportunity now and the boat isn’t rocked too much until November or December take that decision out of our hands or if both land favourable for Barton we can then make a decision on him that doesn’t prejudice outstanding cases against him based purely on how his tenure has turned out for BRFC both in terms of results on the pitch and reputation off it. To be fair, you've summed up the dilemma pretty well there. I think I said it yesterday, there's no good decision here only bad ones. Everyone has their own opinion on which decision is the least worst.

Appreciate the clarification statement from Wael (although shame it's taken until 4pm to get it out) but I still firmly believe he should at the very least be suspending JB pending the outcome of the trial. His presence on the touchline and in the media from now until December is only going to fuel the fire and be an unnecessary distraction from the business on the pitch. what a great idea! So Barton’s got all his players in, but let’s make him stay away from them? We might as well sack him, and let a manager do his job! Good idea! Let's do that, let's get an actual manager to manage the team rather than someone who is incapable of avoiding a dust up with the cops every five minutes and as such is a liability to the club. For what it's worth until now I've not had a bad word to say about JB although I'll confess I had reservations over his appointment. I hate what is happening to us right now which is a direct result of guys behaviour and attitude and I can't help but feel that if JB was the manager of any other club there would barely be a voice on here saying he should stay in his position.

As I said on the other thread I don't think it goes far enough in that it only refers to the (completely unnecessary to include, imho) victimless part of the statement as something that has been misinterpreted by us the great unwashed, rather than a mistake on their part. We have to break with Barton - guilty or not in this case, trouble and bad press follow him around Wael has provided an explanation and apology. For me, whether we break with Barton or not depends if he is innocent or guilty. You cannot just sack someone based on an allegation. The club were able to sack DC, BG and PT without needing to justify itself, if they wanted to part ways with JB then I'm sure they could, I'm no expert on football manager contacts but I expect their is a clause that allows either party to terminate the contract if they wish. Well it looks like my message to the club may have helped provoke a response, although people may not agree with what i did, it some times you have to do these things to find out how some one/ club position is on a matter. Well done for taking it up with them, I can imagine there must have been a few others who did too
