Taylor seems like the Poundland appointment to me. Out of Monk and Taylor I’d much prefer Monk. Genuine question, based on what? I see a lot from people asking for Monk, but he hasn't held a job more than 18 months, apart from Swansea. He's been out of the game for years and has a low win rate too. Agreed. Monk is a bigger name having managed in the Prem, but his record doesn't particularly excite me. He hasn't lasted very long in any of his last four appointments, and hasn't managed in three years. Whereas Taylor built a really good team at Exeter, that were really on the up and punching above their weight. Rotherham obviously doesn't look as good, but keeping them up last season shouldn't be underestimated. I wouldn't be against Monk and will support whoever comes in, but Taylor looks the better option to me.

What about Will Still (Reims - I think?). Yes. Can confirm that it rhymes.

What's Kenny Jacket doing these days?.. Came here to say exactly that! Surprised he isn't talked about more or on the lists anywhere. Has lots of experience at the right end of L1 and in the Championship. I would take him over any other (realistic) name that I've seen mentioned. However, currently DoF at Gillingham.

Billy on Newcastle's bench tonight. I know it was incredibly unlikely, but I'm still upset.

Last six home games; Barnsley, Portsmouth, Charlton, Derby, Wednesday, Bolton.
Ah, it's nice to be out of League 2...

Little bump for this thread! Looking at his insta, Collins still seems to be celebrating. The boy started straight after this game and hasnt stopped. Gonna be a difficult first week of pre-season for him I thought exactly the same! I hope he has been using the gym/ going for runs between the partying or else he is in for a tough few weeks of catch up! (this isn't a dig at him, I wish more people shared his energy and enjoyment when his team is doing well - good on the lad)

Can't see anything clearly but doesn't look good for Oli McBurnie (again?!)

Apologies if this has been posted already, but haven't seen anything. Listening to Keith Hill's comments on the game and the reporter asks him about their keeper being punched during the pitch invasion. Hill doesn't comment but says the referee will file a report suggesting something has happened. All a bit concerning/ unsavoury. From about 8 mins: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0c5hn65

Who got fouled for Evans free kick, does anyone know? Of the remaining six goals, I count four assists and one goal for Elliot!

I wonder if our 'Goal Cam' cameras can help with things like this?

Personally not worried about Swindon or Sutton’s results as I believe we’ll win our last two, making what they do largely irrelevant. Mansfield dropping points would be lovely but hard to see at home to Stevenage. Although it is Steve Evans returning to his former club so I’m sure they’re not gonna just roll over… Wouldn't be the first time Stevenage have helped us out in the race for promotion from League 2

Was Evans goal deflected/ maybe even an own goal? Not sure if it's a glitch on the video but looks like it's going much higher and suddenly changes trajectory.

I've voted in.
I didn't really want Barton in the first place. But we got him, we've let him build a squad and I sometimes think we just have to be a bit patient to see the results. I think we have a greater chance of successful this season if we stick rather than starting all over again now. So for me, I'd stick for now, and if things aren't improving I'd twist in a couple of months and let the new man consolidate this season in preparation for next.

I was surprised when I saw the attendance. Felt busier than that. I know Stevenage won't have helped, but it's a bit disappointing

www.theguardian.com/football/2021/aug/02/league-two-2021-22-season-preview?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_OtherAutomatic promotion contenders One point from their final seven matches last season is hardly stirring evidence of a title push but this incarnation of Bradford City are determined to mount a challenge and in Derek Adams they have a manager eyeing a third promotion from the division after guiding Morecambe into League One against the odds in May. The recruitment looks sound but the arrival of Adams, a Marmite character, may be the most important piece of the jigsaw. Bristol Rovers have been bogged down by negative headlines – manager Joey Barton is at the centre of two legal cases – but their close-season business looks promising. Barton has turned to familiar faces, with Paul Coutts one of three to join from Fleetwood, and they have added much-needed experience in the former Accrington defender Mark Hughes and moved to address a chronic lack of goals with the arrival of Aaron Collins and Brett Pitman. Salford City’s stakeholders are restless at the best of times and now the buck stops with Gary Bowyer, who helped them rally to within two points of the play-offs last season. Josh Morris and Matty Lund represent eye-catching signings who have shone in the division above and a manager as long in the tooth as Bowyer may take them back there. Similarly, the appointment of Kenny Jackett is a coup for Leyton Orient’s ambitious owners. The wily midfielder Darren Pratley impressed in League One last season and Paul Smyth also looks another shrewd pickup. They have sparks in Hector Kyprianou and Dan Kemp but could come up short in attack.
