For what it is worth I supported Barton's appointment. He played at the highest level and had a successful (by and large) tenure at Fleetwood. Yes, he had personal issues but I was prepared to ignore those until the court system had passed a verdict. Innocent until proved guilty etc. However, his record as a Rovers manager is not good. Somebody stated 3 wins in 20 games. If true, that is unacceptable. I'd give him 10 games total to engineer a winning team. If he can't achieve that then it's time, in my opinion to look elsewhere. I'm fed up with the constant excuse of blaming previous managerial regimes. This squad is a Barton squad. If he can't get them to win games in the fourth tier it's time to look elsewhere. Having said all that, I hope he succeeds but 2 losing games is not a good start to the season. Too early to blame Joey, he has had many players not available for selection. I genuinely believe the team will get stronger as the season progresses, though I suspect we will fall well short of promotion.

An attitude change is needed within the club regarding strikers, if we are to get promotion then we need a striker of real quality that will tear opponents apart at this level.

Wael says promotion is a must - we did not get off to a good start, though I feel we will get stronger as the season progresses, though I suspect we will only finish mid-table. I do not feel that Pitman has the legs to do 90 mins game after game, so another striker would indeed be useful So James Do you think we have recruited to a plan? If promotion is the plan, then I am not convinced there are enough goals in the squad, so to answer your question - no.

I think Mansfield will get the win today (2-0) though I think Rovers will get stronger as the season progresses

If we sign Pittman I wouldn’t be to disappointed. I think with the players we have in attack this season with their pace and creativity I think Pittman would score a fair few goals for us this season. I would still like another striker to go with him though as I’m not sure we will get 46 games out of him One of the players told me six days ago that this signing was likely. He certainly has goals in him, but he is old, so I am not sure how good a signing this is or what formation we will play.

Please can we go all out and buy a striker, I don't know who, just one that knows where the back of the net is. Absolutely right, we need a lethal predator in the team and a different approach to our forward play I have only heard the name Pitman mentioned, but he is 33 going on 34

On the striker front, an attitude change still needed within the club

I was gutted when I realised I couldn't make the first two home games but clearly that was a blessing as I can't see how they can go well for anyone involved if JB is in the dugout. As someone who's stood with their mum on the Blackthorn since the age of 11 and has recently had a baby girl I don't feel at all comfortable going to games with that man in charge. What kind of message does that send out to the women in our lives? Could I really look my daughter in the eye when she's old enough to understand and say I went along and supported a guy with a charge of such magnitude hanging over his head? Especially if he is found guilty when this whole sorry saga is finally sorted. Clint Hill is in charge of our two remaining friendly matches, after which perhaps both Joey and the club will have a decision (stick or twist) to make.

The wording of the charge is very serious, but he has pleaded not guilty, and his wife (the apparent victim) appears to be completely supportive of him. By the strict letter of the law, he is innocent until proven guilty in court, however this does put the club in an embarrassing position because opinions on Joey are very much divided.

I think everyone should calm down on this issue, until the CPS has made a definitive ruling. The club is adopting the right approach in allowing the legal process to unfold.

The facts appear to be unclear, but Joey seems to be a good guy from his wife's perspective. We shall see what transpires in court.

All I will say it's a total mess, I would hope wael knows about it, wont speculate as we don't know what happened, domestic abuse cannot be tolerated though. We are in a state only swindle are in a worst position, we ve gone all in with joey and let him rule the roost, in hindsight looking a bad poker shout. This incident looks serious, and not good for the club since quite a few of the new players probably only came to us because Joey was here. There is now a very real possibility the manager will leave in the near future, if so I would replace him with one of the current staff, rather than appoint someone new who may not work well with the people we have in place.

I do not use Instagram but others using this forum have said Wael recently started following Timmy. Regarding Brett Pitman a player told me yesterday of the possibility that he would come Thanks James I suppose we are working down our list as long as we dont do a james constable saga again! Timmy looked poor first time I saw him. Brett can walk away from swindle as they never paid some of his wages allegedly, he wont be a Ben type anyway. Yes I am a bit surprised if indeed Timmy is on our radar, young players improve but in the time he was with us, he didn't look like a player who could hold the ball up. I am nor sure about Brett being the answer either, he certainly knows how to score a goal but is pretty old now. I have for some time felt that an attitude change is needed inside the club with regard to signing a top striker, though the two Joey has brought in so far both look to have something about them.

The guy that Wael is apparently following Cheltenham Town will not be signing Fulham attacker Timmy Abraham after a trial stint with the League One side. Ahead of the new campaign, Cheltenham Town boss Michael Duff has been casting his eye over some potential new additions, one being Fulham striker Timmy Abraham. The 20-year-old, younger brother of Chelsea striker Tammy, has been on trial with the Robins ahead of a potential loan move. During his time with the League One new boys, Abraham netted twice in a 2-1 win over Kidderminster Harriers. He played in three games for Cheltenham overall and now, it seems Duff has made up his mind regarding a potential move for the young forward. READ: Fulham man set to join Championship rivals As per a report from Gloucestershire Live, Cheltenham will not be bringing in Abraham this summer. The forward will now return to parent club Fulham, where he will be waiting to discover his transfer fate ahead of the new season. Abraham has spent three stints away from Craven Cottage in recent years. He has spent time in the Football League with Bristol Rovers and Plymouth Argyle, also enduring a stint in Scotland with Raith Rovers. Now, with the start of the new season nearing, it will be interesting to see how the London-born forward’s situation pans out. Thoughts? Despite netting twice against Kidderminster, Abraham doesn’t have the best goalscoring record. He failed to score in any of his three loan spells away but managed 12 goals in 46 outings with Fulham’s U18s. Duff seemingly thinks there are better options in the market, so it will be interesting to see how their striker hunt pans out over the coming weeks. James does it date when wael started following him as could have been when he was with us, and is wael following Brett Pitman because he wont be a Ben Garner type player due to age. I would do it myself but I am techno phobic. I do not use Instagram but others using this forum have said Wael recently started following Timmy. Regarding Brett Pitman a player told me yesterday of the possibility that he would come

Sounds an intelligent decent bloke welcome James to the Gas! Yes, he obviously has plenty of smarts between the ears, and I noticed in the Plymouth game that he instinctively seemed to know what the defenders were doing. The penalty area seemed to be well-organized.

If we signed Timmy then he won’t count against the squad numbers. Even if he’s crap it’s a free pass. Hopefully he’s a much better player than the first time around. When Timmy was with us, I wasn't sure what his best position would be. He didn't really look as though he could play with his back to goal, but he did look as though he could move quickly. As has been already said on this forum, young players can come on quickly. Read the following, a short while ago a very big club had their eye on him, but the paperwork fell through.
"Abraham was set to join Dortmund on loan with a €2.2million option to buy next summer".
We may see as an excellent prospect who will be in the first team quickly in this division, and get much better in the course of time
If James Belshaw is now a done deal then we will not have any keeper problems in the next couple of seasons with the two senior ones we have on board, and the talented young prospect coming through.
