So, in short, you think the people running the IF should have just forced users to join this one by taking away the choice of remaining with the existing community built up over 8 years? What utter nonsense. Yes it is utter nonsense. Those of us who were only ever on the OF also had to up and find a new home too. We also had a community. It would also be a nonsense to suggest that we could all just slot in to another group overnight. Both forums have merit. Both have something different to offer. It is what it is. Ironic isn't it that an approach mirroring the disgraceful way OF users were treated is now seen as an acceptable approach. Agree with the rest of your post as well. Finger pointing achieves nothing aside from creating even larger divides.

Hugo That's not what happened. The IF moved to an improved platform, it did not close. As I read the comments when people migrated to the IF from the OF when that was shut down, the setting up of this forum had little to do with technology, although that was raised, but more because the robustness of debate made some feel uncomfortable. Why would IF members migrate here when there has been an 8 year history, whne the membership had grown to over 900? For example. One of the moderators of this forum who did migrate got upset when I ridiculed the logic of someone who posted that he was "Proud to be a Rovers Fan" I think I was defined as a "Faceless Bully"
Bit weak really isn't it.
I'm sorry but this is where your argument falls apart completely. We're talking about an internet forum here - not a football club. History makes no real difference; if you were keeping the same web address or login credentials then your argument may have a shred of substance. However, the new forum was set up with a new company, using a new domain name, where all users had to sign up from scratch - there was no continuity whatsoever. If you are/were so keen to have us "all under one roof", when the decision was made to move to a new platform that allowed easy navigation/readability on a mobile device and/or tablet, you all just could have moved here. Alas, the decision was taken to keep it seperate. The IF had the perfect opportunity to do as you suggest, but decided against it and carried on doing their own thing. IMO, for that reason, there is no argument (debate) to be had. So, in short, you think the people running the IF should have just forced users to join this one by taking away the choice of remaining with the existing community built up over 8 years? What utter nonsense.

Oldie, again you don't say what was stopping people coming here when the old format IF closed?? When was the old IF closed? It was replaced with a revamped site, due to the requests from the user base for an improved platform, and for a while both the old and new were up and running during the changeover. To suggest that it was closed is incorrect.
