Lad from wolves u21s coming in on loan. Unsure on name atm Alfie Pond is known to Taylor. Have you seen him play, or any clips of him at all?? It looks like he was highly rated at a young age and got the move to Wolves. But he didn't play many games while on loan to Stockport last season. So his career, could still go either way. Taylor played him at a young age in the cup though and rated him highly. So a loan to us could make sense and suit all parties. Obviously it might not be him, but it's a good shout that it could be him.

ALL football managers will want to bring into a club players they know, respect and rate. Why should Matt Taylor be castigated and criticised for doing this? Darrell Clarke brought in Stuart Sinclair, Jamie White and James Clarke from Salisbury City, his previous club. He also brought in Matty Taylor and Jake Gosling who were playing for non-league sides at that time. Plus Manse from TUFC. If 50% of any signings work out that is a great record. DC did well. Supporters may recall the early John Ward permanent signings of Mark McChrystal, Ryan Brunt, Steve Mildenhall, Oumare Toukare, JJOT and Steven Gillespie. 50% success at least. Matt Taylor's first two permanent signings are Kamil Conteh and Chris Martin. Not a bad start. Surely it makes sense that he will now start to look towards Exeter City and Rotherham United for other potential signings. Some of the possible signings for us were given their league debuts by MT. He will have known some of these players for four or five years. They will know how MT works and would only join us if they trust and respect him. Rather than belittling MT for signing ex-Grecians and the like he should be taken to task if he DOES NOT sign any players who he has previously worked with. Unless, of course, he finds a pot of gold to fish in a bigger pond. I look forward to hearing news of players signing for us that will probably understand the manager and his style of management and are happy to play for him because of previous experiences. As always, if 50% of the signings end up a true asset it will be good work. That doesn't bode well when he couldn't even get a tune out of arguably his best player at Exeter. Thats one thing I thought would improve when MT came in, sadly Brown was just as useless as he was under Barton. I don't think Brown had fully recovered from his off field problems and his time away from football where he couldn't train. At least Taylor did drop him and tell him he had to work on his fitness and motivation and didn't give him any special treatment. Hopefully now he enters the last year of his deal, he will have the motivation to at least put some effort in.

WTF, JCH signs for Rotherham within days of leaving Posh, so there's 20 goals guaranteed in division 1 gone. Doh. Well Monotone has now finally well and truly got rid of all of our / his ghosts from Christmas past, he's now sat in the quarters with no one else to blame bar himself, lets hope George can turn water into wine, because Matty has no football pedigree and / or significant other contacts north of Cheltenham to call upon. JCH was never going to fit into our reduced wage budget, especially with Martin on the books. So I'm glad he's signed elsewhere early. I thought Grimsby was north of Cheltenham?? It's funny how Conteh said Taylor was a big reason for him signing. You choose to ignore comments like that, as they didn't fit into your agenda.

Personally i'm gutted. Guaranteed 20 goals a season. I'm sure we'll sign some nobody from Palace's U23's instead who will be as weak as Fosters and as lethal as a marshmallow. Never been this unexcited as a Rovers fan in many many many years. Let's see what Exeter ressies Taylor has lined up before you get too despondent. 😆 Noombe could be available now 😂. I'm not sure why you are hung up on Exeter reserves. His only signing came from Grimsby and was a player that you previously named yourself. Let's see what the summer brings, before trying to guess what type of player he will sign.

No guarantees in football, especially when players get over 30.

I see they have taken Paul Wotton from Truro City to be their new manager. I thought some club would try him at some stage. He played at a decent level and has done well at Truro. Torquay are in the same league, so he will know the league well and will probably bring in some of Plymouths better youngsters on loan.

Plymouth and Rotherham rumoured to be interested. Not surprised. Looked quality at Torquay. Any idea on why he's featured so little over the years?? 21 and his loan spell at national League South level, was his first competitive games as far as I can see. Released by QPR. I wondered if he has had injury problems, or if there was another reason behind him not playing at all.

Target of making top 10 is very uninspiring. See other clubs get new grounds and have a good go at top of the table every season. But it is never us. Oxford seem to be able to compete every season. Why aren't we able to assemble a competitive side in league 1? A club without a plan, joined up thinking and sh** recruitment. We've had plans, but we have changed them too much to suit the managers. Started off with a development squad and looking to to sign young players. That changed completely under Barton though, when he decided to put the budget into the first team squad instead and sign mainly experienced players for the here and now. Now it looks like we are going back to the original method. We need to have a long term plan, that stays in place, who ever the manager is! Yes, the manager needs a bit of say, but that does not mean ripping everything up and starting again every time! I like the sound of our current plan, but hopefully we can achieve it this time and not change as soon as we hit a few hurdles.

If we did the latter then the new No 1 wouldn't have anybody challenging him? We've also still got Hall on the playing budget. Yes but that is the model many choose. If it’s a true no1 that is expects to play all matches and any injury can be covered by an emergency loan or Ward recall. The model pirate has posted a few times. Hall is not a real back up. The risk with that model is, what if Your only main keeper loses form??? You can only make emergency loans to cover keeper injuries. So you would have to be 100% that you want your keeper to start every game, unless they get injured. So personally I would keep Ward and add someone to challenge him.

Blimey! In the MKD v Crawley match it’s hard to know who were worse MKD or the officials. 3 Crawley goals offside, missed by the linesman, a pen for MKD not given and when they actually got a penalty half the Crawley team in the box when he missed. Just reminded me how bad the officials in Div 4 are. UTG! Which 3 goals were offside?? I missed the last 2, but I thought the first 3 were on side?

Still started a number of games for them last season and captained them in one game. So you would have to think he's on a championship wage that we wouldn't be able to match. Must know Sinclair pretty well would have played together at Preston and both had girlfriends on Corri. May knows Evans as well. True, but just because you know some of the players, does that mean you're willing to take a pay cut?? I suppose if his partner earns enough and he wants first team football he might.

One of the young lads at work, who apparently knows him personally reckons we're in for Ryan Ledson or Preston. Looks like he was a bit part player for them last season and has Everton connections which might line up with Spendlove so could have legs. Just looked at his wiki page . Would be a little strange if true bearing in mind that his partner is in Coronation street. is there a trend here? Still started a number of games for them last season and captained them in one game. So you would have to think he's on a championship wage that we wouldn't be able to match.

Callum Burton is leaving Plymouth. Might be an option in goal. A lot of Plymouth fans are sad to see him go and say he should be a regular starter in League 1. At 27, should be heading towards his prime. I think Jed starts as No.1 unless we bring in proven quality. We need another keeper to challenge Jed. Then they can fight it out for the number 1 jersey.

True. No surprise he is considering his options. Would be a bit annoying to get him 'fit' only for him to waltz off to somewhere else. I cant see him having anywhere near a full season though I wouldn't offer him anything to be honest. Stinks of a Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, Garry Kenneth, Adam Virgo, Jamie Shore etc etc etc "He'll be great when he's fit" as he drags around mangled legs for a further 2 years and 12 appearances. If he signs for us, he will probably get injured before the season starts. If he signs elsewhere, he will probably play 30+ games knowing our luck.

Is anyone else a little underwhelmed with what is available so far on the retained lists? Even players like Azeez at Reading have had year options activated, when it looked like publicly they were coming to the end of contract. There does seem to be a lot less quality players that are out of contract this season. Clubs most be giving out longer contacts now?? It does mean that clubs might be stuck with a lot of players though. Like we are with Wilson. Which is why we will probably need to pay some transfer fees during the summer to compete. A big summer ahead. Will we finally break our transfer record?? Or will the new owners be all talk?? We need to have learnt from our mistakes and the owners need to be on the same page.

It has to be true, as it's on here 😂. Has he even had a trial here?? It's not been mentioned anywhere. If he had a trial, when was it?? Oh its definitely True, He Trained but i think it was meant to be 3 days but I only know of him training the 1 day. I know for fact he wasn't impressed with the standard of training that day and that again comes from 2 very reliable sources of whom know him very well. and it was the 15th April. Do you want to know what he was wearing? ( They gave him Rovers Training Kit ) So yesterday it was a 2 week trial, today it's a 3 day trial?? What day was it??? Because as I said, they will train differently every day. It's a process, recovery days, preparation days etc. At professional level not all of the seasons are high intensity sessions, unless you want all the players to get injured and be fatigued on a match day! At non league, they will have to put all the intensity into a few hours a week.

You can imagine the same thing is happening at Man U but I doubt ten Hag has become a bad manager overnight. MT clearly had Exeter training OK. What about Rotherham? Smallest budget in the league by far, smaller than some League 1 budgets. Kept them up and they were third from bottom when he left, which was higher than where they are now! So it wasn't as bad as some make out?? Where do you think Rotherham should have been??

Or just joined a club with a bunch of wasters as players? Was JB really out of his depth given the level he's played at but he couldn't get AC to perform anywhere near the level he can clearly play. AC was League One Player of the Year under JB you dafty. Form is temporary, class is permanent. 😂 His decline started under Joey.

Before basically calling a poster out as a liar why not check their posting history, if they are liars they are a pretty convincing one from what they've posted in the past. Just looked through their previous posts and a lot of false information there as well. He obviously hates Taylor and will say anything to discredit him. I know at least part of what they said in the past was rubbish.
