Anyone can be made redundant. Watch this space Yes and no...it's illegal to make someone redundant and then hire someone else (or them again) to do the same job 3-6 months later...I feel sorry for those who have lost their jobs and any others who might...

You can easily coach distribution (and I'm not just talking about the individual player, you can coach the team as a whole). The Rochdale keeper was made to look good because his players wanted the ball, something that hampered Mildenhall (and indeed any Rovers player just trying to take a throw-in) all season....

I've also just watched the movie and have never been so transfixed by a documentary (that wasn't about WW2) before...

Hi guy's. Bit sad really. Can someone explain how it works, i've never done this prediction thingy before. Thanks. Quite straightforward Jon. In the original post I have listed 16 games (each teams first group game). You have to guess the scores for each match. You get one point for a correct result (ie WDL) and 4 points for a correct scoreline (ie 0-0, 3-1, 0-2). There will be three rounds for the group stages and 4 for the knockout stages, and you can play all rounds no matter how well (or badly) you are doing to that point. The board member with the most points wins. Simples!

All aboard the corporate hospitality event that is the World Cup where (if you're lucky) occasionally a football match will break out and disturb those munching on their prawn sandwiches! I'm looking for people who want to play the predictions game for the 2014 World Cup. There will be seven rounds, the first in this thread. I'll give you the list of matches (in this case, the first group games for every team). You predict a score. There will be 1 point awarded for a correct result, and 4 awarded for a correct score-line. Results will be tallied as and when I can be bothered. Entries for each round will close at 9am the day BEFORE that round starts and the next round will be launched either as soon as the fixtures are ready or I can get around to it...play as many rounds as you like - I think Ras is supplying a prize for the winner, probably a special 'board status' or maybe a special vegetable from the selection in the "Gentlemen's Lounge"... Anyway, Round One: Please copy and paste this part as your entry, include your predicted scoreline and if I've screwed anything up let me know (back online from this evening...) - oh and they're in group order not chronological order...Entries for this round close at 9am Wed 11th June Brazil v Croatia Mexico v Cameroon Spain v Netherlands Chile v Australia Colombia v Greece Ivory Coast v Japan Uruguay v Costa Rica England v Italy Switzerland v Ecuador France v Honduras Argentina v Bos-Herce Iran v Nigeria Germany v Portugal Ghana v USA Belgium v Algeria Russia v South Korea Good luck!

68 days to the start of the 2014/15 season... ...who knows how long until the fixture list is published... ...so after landing the role of 'Matchday Staff Match Predictor Organiser and Co-ordinator' (or MSMPOC for short) I thought I'd do two things: - ask everyone what kind of match predictions they want to see for the upcoming season (I assume a predictions game based on our games and all the others in our division, but suggestions and additions are more than welcome), and
- launch the World Cup Predictions Game as it's only ten days until that kicks off.
The World Cup Predictions Game has already started and will be a simple 'predict the score' game in 7 parts - the three rounds of the groups and four for the knockout phase, 1 point for a result and 4 points for a correct score. I'm gonna use it as a trial to see how the system works.
Stay tuned!

He has just got married why would he and his new wife relocate to Bristol unless he was on a wedge? I think he will probably go to Carlisle as it is up the road 'Just up the road' like Maidenhead is just up the road from Bristol, but I take your point. If we can entice him to uproot and come down here for this season, why could we not get players to come to us last season when we needed them?

Dunno how it works but I'm sure to win with a tram like that I'm in, didn't realise we needed a tram though...

Certainly wouldn't worry about Marcus leaving. Don't rate him as a coach anyway. Record as a goalscorer, excellent. Record coaching others to score (under the previous 'regime(s)' at least), abysmal. More worried about signing another injury-prone player into a club that has a habit of players getting injured...

www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/sport/football/hartlepool-utd/cooper-looks-to-tie-down-his-wanted-men-at-hartlepool-united-1-6611539A couple of 'minor' injuries at the start of last season - a groin (and then calf problem) in August that led to him missing 6-7 weeks and only playing minor sub roles in the next two months. His next (and only) start was mid-Dec against Cheltenham. Not too bad until you then realise that takes him to over half his total appearances for the season with half the season still to go....worse still, the rest of the season was also minor sub appearances. 'Nasty looking' injury in March ended his season early. In total, 22 appearances last season (and a fair chunk were minor sub appearances). He might help us out and I hate to pre-judge, but... ...if he's supposed to be the solution on the pitch, we're recruiting yet another player who couldn't and/or didn't play much in the previous season. That gamble never works out for us... ...if he's supposed to be the solution off the pitch I'll be happier...but Sam Collins took on additional coaching responsibilities at Hartlepool at the end of the season (ahead of/instead of Sweeney) and I guess it would then mean Marcus is leaving...?

We all want the same thing at the end of the day! Incidentally, this is a dig at the club/board, not supporters groups...

Thanks for the goals. Good luck for the future. +1 Parting of the ways is best for both parties. except for *allegedly* some of the parties in Bristol's trendier nightspots

Damn we're a fickle lot. Just as fickle as JJ if the truth be known The fact he 'had' to be in the starting XI meant we were always at a disadvantage in certain games. So whilst I blame the management for playing him and (in my opinion) weakening the team in some games against some opponents, I was very happy when he joined but I won't be sad to see him go.

I like your analogy. It's easy to stop the domino effect by just stopping one single domino falling... That works with dominoes. So you refuse to let the first player you actually want to keep leave. My point about the analogy is that if you do it professionally, will anyone lower down the 'chain of dominoes' want to try their luck? Maybe, but again, you stop another domino toppling and sooner or later the people who pay the wages are once more in charge of their employees...hopefully...?
