*Shock* *Horror* the team with the smallest budget in the Championship gets relegated. The team with the worst team gets relegated from the championship, this years casualty happens to have been assembled by Monotone (a very apt name given to him by the Rotherham supporters) the Clown Taylorrrr, which if you watched them play last week against Argyle, is unsurprising, as Rotherham were playing in disguise like Rovers are now, common denominator the incompetent Mattster. Budgets do not win football matches, skilful well organised players with team ethics and a wanting to win on a regular basis will get you up the league and possibly promoted. If you do not believe it ask any Luton, Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford supporter. The last I remember MT was not in charge of Rotherham last week against Argyle. If you are saying that he is to blame for their performance in that game and that they are relegated because of MT, then based on that argument, Barton is to blame for where we are and that last night's performance and loss was due to Barton. You can't have it every way just to suit your agenda against MT. Either he is to blame for last night's game or on your above post about Rotherham Barton is to blame. Which is it?

Scholes went to Port Vale and Becks went to Preston. The difference is that crop of players were remarkable and such was the confidence in them, the likes of Kanchelskis, Hughes, Robson etc were sold to make way for them. Greenslade has done nothing. Exactly this. Sorry supergas but that argument and comparison is very poor. That youth team won a lot at youth level together and as above some of those players went out on loan first to prove themselves. Also we are not Man Utd, our kids are not at the level of '92, and MT is not Alex Ferguson!!

Didn’t even realise we had a match today. The thing I don’t get about people saying “players are on holiday” is most people want to win regardless. Nobody plays football to not try and win? Did you watch Port Vale game Nailsea? They didn't set out 'to not try and win? but they didn't set out to win. Very few tackles were made, and it appeared they often backed off from committing themselves. Some are either on their way or have made deals in the background and don't want to get injured in a nothing [to them] game. Martin and Sinclair at least tried and Ward made some good saves. The others just looked meh!

To be fair.....if you have been told or have a strong feeling you aren't wanted, are you going to challenge for those 50/50 or 40/60 tackles? We don't know what the manager has said, but it would be poor management in the extreme to indicate unwanted players before the season has ended. Keep your tinder dry, as just say all decisions will be made at the end of the season. I am sure most of them know what they are doing at the end of the season, even if MT hasn't spoken to them. Agents have been working since the close of the last window. A friends son who has just turned professional has had a number of [illegal] approaches, which he has ignored. There will be plenty that won't ignore them. Players that are going won't tackle as was evident yesterday. Martin looked as if he battling for a place and covered most of the ground, attacking, defending, battling in midfield, which seemed to have disappeared..... Sinclair was another one who actually tried yesterday, but didn't seem to be able to beat his man. I am sure attitude, demeanour and interaction with the manager has convinced some players they are away. It's difficult not to.

Matt Taylor inherited these players and I feel should not be criticised to this extent. We shall judge our manager from next season when hopefully the club will have signed decent players. The Lincoln City manager was facing similar pressure but appears to have turned things around! It is the easiest thing in the world to blame a manager who has inherited players who don’t seem to be putting much effort in. A good manager gets a performance out of any squad I reckon. I accept these are not his players but today ( and I was at the game) was unacceptable. He said one of the reasons he took the job, was the strength of the squad. If he didn’t mean that, a dangerous comment. I hope he gets to the summer, signs the players he thinks will let us mount a play off challenge next season and delivers. Jury out. I would say there are some very good players in our squad, who either won't or can't motivate themselves to play to the best of their ability. They are very capable of playing at this level and in some cases higher but seemingly can't be arsed. Elliot and Quansah as loan players have shown what can be done when you set your mind to it. Some of the players seem to have convinced themselves they are at their level or feel it is beneath them to be in this league. That is where the manager's motivation should kick in. If it's the players, many will be on their way so nothing to be done. If it's the manager that can't motivate them then that is an entirely different matter! And a worry for next season.

Other managers seem to have coped taking over elsewhere, as you say with Lincoln. It does bring into question Taylor's motivational skills, especially when players are in the shop window and can't be arsed to play anything like they are capable of, to get themselves a new contract elsewhere.

i doubt ppg shows the the true picture as at least we were competitive in most of JB's games, although he was working with all his own players and didn't have to deal with them putting on their flip flops with a dozen games to go. Are you saying that comparing MT results to JB results is unfair? It's very much like Barton's first season, when he and the players gave up, which I think is what I would compare it to. At least, hopefully, we won't get relegated....

I'm going down the road for this one. Almost as much concerned about finding my car in one piece when I get back as the game! Went to this one a few years back after we got promoted. 2,000 Gas there then, don't expect that many today, but safe journey to all travelling.
Vale need the points and will probably be physical and battling which our softies hate. Shame we can't put out a fans team..... Praying for a win, expecting a loss 3-1 with Martin scoring our consolation.

From his interview - Asked if he thought some of his players had mentally checked out, Taylor confessed: "I'll be asking that question. I can see what they [supporters] can see.
"Let's be honest, it's a constant battle to get them to where they need to be in terms of being up for a game. That's a damning statement of where some of them are but some of their situations are out of my control. I've inherited it and it's always difficult when you come in mid-season and there's a big expected turnover at the end of the season but has anyone done themselves any favours?
"The biggest slap today is the result and the scoreline and the embarassment of that and there is also the bigger picture where decisions have to be made and those decisions can become easier as opposed to harder. It's a real shame and the supporters are right to ask that question."
The 42-year-old has repeatedly stated that there's still so much left to play for this season, regardless of what supporters may think, but strong words and home truths were declared by the Gas boss, who added: "How many games have we got left? Eight games of football still. Our supporters have come a long way and spent a lot of money in relation to today.
Taylor admitted when asked if the upcoming break is a positive or a negative. "They might need a bit of time away from myself. I certainly need a bit of time away from them
Reading between the lines, I think some stuff was said off the record to the journos. I like the fact he doesn't slag off individuals like B*****, but it is obvious some players aren't being professional in attitude. Perhaps that is where the fans ought to be looking..... His statement shows he recognises what a lot of the supporters see and why they are so frustrated!

Does football work like that? JCH has hardly played this season but he'll still get a decent contract offer this summer.Manager's etc know players and will sign them on how they know they can play, not what they've done in the past few games of a season for us. It will be interesting to see whether he does or not. Football is a very closed world and if someone has an attitude problem, there are few [unlike, in fairness, Barton] who would take them on. As you say he has hardly played and Peterborough are a grow and sell club. They would usually put someone like JCH on the pitch and in the shop window! The fact they haven't speaks volumes and potential clubs will ask themselves why.....

To be followed by the history of the flower beds at the Tote end.Unique. The flower beds remind me of a match at the end of the 1969/70 season. The World Cup was going to be held in Mexico. Oscar had been selling his tickets and walked across the back of the goal between the flower beds and the half time scoreboards and a cry went up front the Tote - 'Oscar for Mexico, Oscar for Mexico' The smile on his face was a real picture, loved it!

Lincoln with a 6-0 win at home tonight, feels like it could be backs to the wall on Saturday! We can play well against footballing sides [maybe excluding Derby!!] If Lincoln play football rather than the physical stuff, it could be interesting. Love how Conteh is coming on and contributing so much!

This has a loss written all over it unless we have been toughening up! I fear it could be like Accrington end of last season. Fleetwood in the relegation zone will battle in this one and it could be horrible. At least it looks like the rain will have stopped. Let's have a battling team out tonight, if we do I will go for the draw. Otherwise could be another horrible night.....

Watching on iFollow today (via France ) sat in my Motorhome in a lovely campsite in Sandlake Oxfordshire. Hoping a few of the injured players get a bit of game time today. Tough fixture and I think the team that scores first wins the game. UTFG ! With our recent track record that does not augur well!! Depends if Orient turn up playing football or clogging.... I think a draw at best. I am reminded though of a game at Eastville in the 70s versus the Orient wise men. Rovers scored 1st minute, Carl Gilbert, and then ground out the win. 22,005 people in attendance that day. We can get good crowds when we win, well we did then!

We played Carlisle doesn't change anything but the rose tinters will rejoice and point to how much the club has progressed. 🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂 No one is saying that. Cheer up. Not sure why but, since Barton has gone, some Gasheads can't even be happy when we win. They just want Taylor and the side under him to fail. Very strange attitude to me. Even though I wasn't keen on Barton I always wanted him to prove me wrong, for us to win and celebrated the wins. I think some Gasheads have really changed and almost want us to fail to prove some elusive point they have in their head.

And Carlisle were nowhere near the worst team we’ve played this season. Fair play to their fans too. Great support 👏 They're rooted to the bottom of the table on -30. Last season we went to Accrington who were in the depths of relegation and lost dreadfully. They bullied us off the park. People forget very quickly!

Accusing rovers fans of not having patience? Where have you been for the last 40 years. Omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bluetooth, Gasheads have changed. I've watched Rovers since 1968 and yes I know how slow time moves with the Gas!!! However some of our younger fans want instant success and as we know it could be years away!
