Is it a waste of money? If someone assaults their wife (or anybody else) and the victim decides to withdraw any allegations, shouldn't the perpetrator still be held to account, if the police and CPS feel there is sufficient evidence that an assault took place? People withdraw allegations for a number of reasons, especially within a marriage, but a crime is a crime. If the CPS feel that this case meets those criteria then it should be resumed. Imagine how you'd feel if you had a married daughter who was beaten up, but she withdrew her evidence because of some misplaced sense of loyalty. Anyway we shall see. Agree with you about the strange timing though. As you say, maybe he's rattled too many cages. He seems to think he can say and do whatever he wants. There has to be consistency. The same summer as the JB incident there was a documentary running (I think it was Inside the Force) and the police were called to a domestic incident playing out in a busy city centre and being monitored by cctv operators. The police arrived and the lady was unconscious on the floor - the footage showed her boyfriend (who had numerous domestic violence convictions) had punched her to the ground and then knocked her out with a full blooded kick to the head. The police wanted to proceed even though the victim didn’t want to press charges - they were very angry that CPS policy at the time was it should be dropped despite the most comprehensive set of evidence you could wish for. If I were JB I would ask why the policy that was in place at the time didn’t apply to him too? The only conclusion must be that a celebrity gets treated differently and more harshly. Perhaps they should be treated more harshly though ? Maybe. 'Celebrities' have influence and with that should come with some responsibility. Let's face it, someone like Barton has the access to and the means to receive the legal defence most couldn't afford, so if this evens things up a bit then so be it. Mind you, that might not be the case for much longer, according to some:

Arsenal wanting Spurs to do them a favour. Arsenal's remaining games: Everton (h) Man City's remaining games: Tottenham (a), West Ham (h) And Liverpool to beat Villa presumably, which would give Spurs more to play for v Man City

Not really …. I know they read the forum so hoping it gets back to them … Decent commentators please …. More wider fan involvement …. Definitely not moaning I promise : How do you define a "decent commentator"? I did the job for twenty years for Hospital Radio retiring in 22/23, it may appear an easy thing to do if you've never actually picked up a microphone and done it. It's easy to be critical but there is a only a split second to describe what is happening and sometimes things change so quickly you are literally chasing the play. The summariser will sometimes have to "tidy-up" what the commentator has just described in real time by explaining what led to the chance. It may seem an easy thing to do, but it isn't and there is no wrong way or right way to do it. The hardest matches to describe are the ones where nothing is happening and that's where a little colour can help entertain those who cannot actually see what is happening. There are some commentators I don't like listening to but it doesn't mean that they are bad at their job. Radio Bristol has produced some really good commentators who have gone on to national success such as Alistair Bruce-Ball and more recently Alfie Reynolds who has worked both for the BBC and Talk Sport (he now specialises on rugby). He actually gained experience at Hospital Radio and I worked with him at Ashton Gate for a while, within two minutes of his first commentary stint I knew that he was a natural, it's been great to see him develop. Others have tried but fallen quickly by the wayside because they soon realised it wasn't something they could do. I don't think iFollow has helped Radio Bristol because they are essentially providing radio commentary not TV commentary which are different disciplines. You may be critical because a commentator has named the wrong player but it isn't easy if it's an "opposition player" early in the game who is unfamiliar, you can't see their number and you have a split second to call it. Any way it's all opinions in the end! Kind regards John Malyckyj It may well be a difficult job, I certainly couldn't do it, but the same could be said for the referee, or linesman, or manager. They're not exempt from criticism. If there's comparison available, from other regions commentary, then it's fair enough to mention it. I have no issue with occasional mistakes or slips of the tongue, but if rovers fans are choosing to listen to biased commentary from other stations than our own then something is surely not right. And yes, I'd happily listen to a female commentator who can accurately describe events taking place with some charisma and knowledge.

It's true unfortunately, the commentary is poor. No disrespect to KB, but he's not a broadcaster nor is he a current or former pro. The main commentator, don't recall his name, often sounds more pleased when the opposition score and shouldn't sound like he doesn't want to be there. I also generally find the opposition commentary much better even when clearly biased.

Wally wouldn't pay the £15k required to get Liam Scales who is now at Celtic and an Ireland international, so if the manager likes and wants him, let's not make that mistake again. Please. Who is Wally? It's not Who is Wally, it's Where is Wally (Wael)

He’s been on the bench past 5 games… you’re right he isn’t rubbish but again another strange TAYLOR decision. He's 21, and Rossiter needed some game time. Taylor knew Conteh will be in his plans next season and hopefully for many more to come. Let's judge Taylor after at least 15 games next season

Will wish him well if he goes, but hope we can persuade him to stay. He doesn't seem to have fitness issues and to replace him would cost at least what we'll probably get for him anyway. I think he's capable of more, seems to have all the attributes and works hard for the team. He'd hopefully step up further if we built the team around him and Conteh in midfield, with some pace upfront for him to supply. Scores goals, creates goals and works hard, we'd do very well to get another of him if he does leave.

He's saying he was trying to 'please everyone' rather than put out his best 11 for a particular game. It didn't sound in any way a dig at the owners to me. I don't believe for a minute that the team he put out v Reading was his best 11 for that game, Cheltenham clearly was (despite admitting he was 'risking' certain players). I've read lots about this being a time for experimenting, and I expect some of those in certain roles against Reading were pushing for a last chance in what I presume they see as their best positions. He was also probably mindful that had he stuck with doing that at Cheltenham on Saturday, even the more patient fans would kick off.
He's saying he's been acting in the best interests of the club, giving players a fair chance to prove themselves before replacing them rather than 'risking' (possibly) Ward and Rossiter. He's probably also saying he's been less inclined to start players he wants to keep. Sounds like a nightmare job to me, and an awful time to take over a squad with most of our better players carrying injuries, on their last legs, or both. Not to mention the ones that know they'll be elsewhere soon by choice or not. We'll just have to see what he does in the Summer, and it's far too early to write him off. I'll take being a bit uninspired by a dour sounding man, over being gaslighted by a psychopath, all day long.

Interesting listening to Taylor talk about recent selections, and how today he picked his best 11 for the day, as opposed to previous matches where he's picked the best 'for the club' and to keep others happy. It goes some way to explain strange selections which presumably were with the summer and next season in mind. Fair play to him for coming clean with that and he admitted that he risked some players today (presumably Rossiter, Ward, Hunt and Wilson) to get the result.
Hard to pick a standout today, they were all excellent, but thought Vale and Sinclair were very decent. Rossiter edged it for me though after so long out, and if we ever can get 30 games a season out of him we'd double our chances of a promotion push.

He'll be losing the case no doubt, and then quite possibly his 3 bed semi in Widnes. Feel sorry for the family as his mental instability must be hell to live with
