Think it was stan Montgomery in the 70's we had an endless supply of Welsh talent, we should still be looking there, Tom s signings have been decent. Times have changed now unfortunately. Cardiff and Swansea have got better facilities and have overtaken us in the pyramid since then which makes things more difficult. Luc Noble and Tom Lockyer are Welsh so its evidently a pool of talent we still dip into. On the former, any idea if he was poached by a bigger club or just released?

I was surprised by that as I thought he was highly-rated and we turned down £150,000 from Southampton a few years back. There will always be exceptions to the rule, Locks was actually released by Cardiff when we signed him up.

I'm surprised to hear that I thought Noble was tipped for good things making the Welsh setup and all. Always thought it was a shame that we let Craig Bellamy slip through the net.

Bellamy was only 11 when he left us. Ex Rovers man Gordon Bennett was involved with Norwich at the time and they always seemed to pick up decent players from around here at one point. Darren Eadie is a Bristol lad and a Rovers fan and had a pretty decent career with Norwich. Richard Everson (who would later become our chief scout under Holloway) used to scout in the area for Norwich. Lee Evans is another Welsh lad we had as a youngster. Playing in the Championship now and a full Welsh international. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Evans_(footballer)Darren Peacock is also another player we had on our books as a youngster that 'slipped the net' and went on to have a top career.

England youth striker Lewis Dobbin might be a decent loan if we could convince Everton to loan him out.

Another couple of Worthing youngsters worth keeping an eye on are: Fin Stevens, a versatile full back (right or left) and midfielder. Only 16-years-old and a first team regular. Was on the books at Arsenal up to U16 level. m.facebook.com/WorthingFC/videos/812167755932981/Tom Chalaye - 17-year-old Sussex County FA U18 striker who helped them reach a cup final. Broke goalscoring records for his College side. Made his first team debut for Worthing during season and scored three goals. Promising player. Scores 3rd goal here with good finish: Another good finish here for their goal:

I wish we had gone in for Kwame Poku when I first spotted him at Worthing. Could see straight away he had something. 5 goals and 4 assists is a pretty decent start to life for Colchester in the football league for an 18-year-old.

Another player I hope we are monitoring is 17-year-old Cirencester Town, Hartpury College and England Schools U18 winger Owen Windsor. Made his debut for Cirencester Town as a 16-year-old and is into double figures for appearances in Southern League Divison One South this season. Seems to be progressing ok at West Brom.

Reiss McNally (Guiseley). The 6ft 2in 19-year-old had an impressive season at right back and centre back and caught the eye of Paul Fairclough to be called up to the England C standby list before the season was ended early. Absolute machine this lad from right back.

Looking forward to seeing how 18-year-old Eric Lopes kicks on next season. The winger/attacking midfielder impressed for Isthmian League South Central Division side Northwood this season (7 goals in 17 league apps) on loan from Wealdstone. He was Wealdstone u18s Players Player of the Season for 2018-19 season and scored on his first team debut. Has previously been part of the youth setups at Barnet and Leyton Orient.
