He was excellent when he was younger playing at Ebbsfleet united. That was a long time ago and he was very much a box to box man not sure if he still plays that way ? or sits deeper ? Plays mainly a holding defensive midfield role these days, although he played a few games at centre back too last season. DC said he wants a defensive midfielder, I would have preferred Bryn Morris, but Bostwick or Matt Crooks could be decent options. Bostwick was defo a body on the line run till you drop type of player...so a DC type. He did play in defence at Ebbsfleet. Was a key part in one of the clubs best seasons and the winning of the FA Trophy. Alongside Akinde scored and terrified defences and lance Cronin was world class in goal (at that level)

I'm normally very upbeat and optimistic, but the lack of activity has me worried (sorry, but there you are) if we were looking at 10+ signings then we're way off the mark. At the moment my wish list is confined to getting 11 decent players on the pitch and enough subs of similar quality. Can't help but feel that our first choices are difficult to get, our second choices may have already gone and then we're left with what we can get and loans. It's the same every summer. Hoping beyond hope I'm wrong and we see two or three signings a week next month.

David Brooks could be a decent loan signing from Sheffield United.
The left footed England winger/attacking midfielder was named the best player at the recent Toulon tournament and impressed scoring 2 goals and creating 4 assists.

If we only needed to make 3 or 4 signings it would be understandable, but considering DC wanted to make 11 new signings (12 with Hartley going?), the lack of movement so far makes me wonder too. In an ideal world most managers would want the majority of signings in for the start of pre-season training to integrate into the squad ready to play the friendlies. There is still time of course, and don't get me wrong - there is no panic from me, but I did expect more activity.

One striker that might be considered a 'coup' for us is Matt Derbyshire. He scored 26 goals in 37 games for Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia during 16/17. If the 31-year-old could be persuaded to move back to England, play in League One and was affordable, I reckon he'd score goals for us.

Kyle Lafferty apparently in talks with Hearts, but I reckon we could offer him a better salary. The reported average wage for a player in the Scottish Prem in 2016 was £2,825-per-week. There probably isn't much difference in standard between L1 and the Scottish Prem either. I reckon he'd score goals for us.
Another striker I reckon has the potential to score at this level is the free agent Luke Moore. Would he be prepared to play in League One? His last club was Toronto where he was earning a weekly wage of about £2,800. He hasn't exactly been prolific in his career, mostly played in the Prem, but has all the attributes to do well in League One IMHO.

Pretty sure Luke Moore is now a sport reporter does a slot in the morning for Alan Brazil's show! We desperately need a poacher type to replace the one that I never speak of gaffney and (Harrison?) will run etc all day for you but both would be lucky to get double figures, Tom Nichols form Peterborough is a decent player and would be happy with providing we can get a decent young loan signing from a prem club with something to prove like Jerome Sinclair went from Liverpool to Watford last summer and struggled for games and didn't really set the world alight at Birmingham either so a 6 month loan would suit both Or am I dreaming/ hopefully.

I see quite a few MLS matches live due to my job, many players are tosh but you do see the odd gems like this lad who is actually from Stoke but playing for New York alongside Pirlo and Villa; Jack Harrison

I did wonder why he hasn't been involved in any England U21 games. Ive seen him play 5 times and in 4 of those games he literally took the water out of the opposition.

Lovely left foot. I think I'm right in saying he earns about £2,400-per-week, so not on massive money compared to some of his team mates. I doubt he'd move to League One, but you never know.

His next move will be a big one, could easily play top Championship level right now. Just shows players are out there, and if you have decent contacts and scouting networks you can catch them early enough to bring in cheaply and sell high.
