Our Board have admitted that they are not football men and should not be expected to make footballing decisions on the team however IMO they should therefore ensure they have a Manager who knows football inside out and who is willing to TELL them rather than listen to them. They need to have an EXPERIENCED Manager because they don't have the football knowhow. I have little doubt that they didn't fancy having Martin Allen because he wouldn't let them waltz through unscathed and would tell THEM like it is and not just tell us like it is. He is the very type of Manager we SHOULD be appointing. I have never seen a Martin Allen team that isn't organised, strong and up for battle and I know you never will because he is that type of bloke. I hate Steve Evans of Rotherham but he is a bloody good Team Builder. It is about time we had a Mr Nasty instead of Mr Nice because that sums up our performances over the last 7 seasons. Mr nasty didn't work for Buckle or Atkins.
Agree the board have no knowledge of football. If I was them I would be on the phone begging for Gary Penrice to come in as director of football and sort the mess out. We made a huge mistake the day we gave Gary Thompson the managers job over him. Gary Penrice was one of the best coaches and scouts in the clubs history.

Steve we have had Ian Atkins and Paul Buckle, neither worked.
I have always believe we need a footballing CEO someone who has a wealth of experience and respect, someone who the Board can take advice from....................but that's never happened either!

Ian Atkins was hounded out by the Board by "taking away" his no 2 and by not giving him "the best budget in the division". Paul Buckle lost it because we,the fans didn't like him. Perhaps it is time for Gary Johnson!!

It probably doesn't matter what we think of the manager, It's about what his team think of him do they respect him and can he get the best out of them. Yesterdays capitulation shows how little they respect him.

Yesterdays capitulation shows how little they respect him. I agree with this. He just doesn't stand out as a strong enough character to be a successful manager at a club like ours. By a club like ours I mean a fairly big club that's been underacheiving for years. At Salisbury he was good because they were a small club and it was perfect for him. What we need is an experienced manager or DOF with a strong character who will tell everybody at the club what they're doing wrong and those people will need to listen. The problem is Higgs won't have it and until he either stops being an arrogant stubborn Chairman or f**ks off we are basically f**ked.

Atkins did more for our club than many realise, again imo.

It was mostly his players that got us promoted.
