It must have some bearing on some signings surely. Even if the stadium has been given the go ahead behind the scenes a player will look and think, umm two years A lot could go wrong and I may not here , so yes I think it's probably caused DC a bit of an headache

I dunno, I look at some of the other sh**-tips that decent players play in. Can't all be down to the stadium. Depends on the calibre of signing though I guess

Am I missing something? I can't see that that tweet refers to the mem at all let alone it hampering our signings.

Gotcha.
Well ... If the Gaffer has said it I guess he would know best. I know when the UWE plans came out there was a lot of internal talk of how that would attract players.

I think the progress from Conference to top 10 L1 in three seasons, one of the best young managers in the Country, a seemingly likeable, affable owner and a decent back room staff may have won a couple over. If you're just looking at the building you're going to be working in, maybe your heart was never in it?

It all comes down to wages; no player is going to arrive at the MEM and the training facilities and say where do I sign, its all about the money.

Got The Supporters Club news letter in the post today. The Back 6 pages list all the stadiums we travel to this season. Interestingly and on topic I was surprised how low the Capacity some of the stadiums are! The Mem is not great but their are some very poor Stadiums in this Division. Highlights the need for the new stadium .
31,367 - Blackburn 30,500 - MK Dons 27,111 - Chalton 25,136 - Bradford 25,023 - Wigan 20,700 - Portsmouth 16,750 - Blackpool 16,388 - Plymouth 15,231 - Doncaster 14,319 - Peterborough 13,500 - Oldham 12,500 - Oxford 12,392 - Southend 12,250 - Bristol Rovers 12,021 - Rotherham 11,640 - Bury 11,582 - Gillingham 11,300 - Walsall 10,249 - Rochdale 09,875 - Shrewsbury 09,088 - Scunthorpe 07,770 - Northampton 05,311 - Fleetwood 04,870 - Wimbledon

It all comes down to wages; no player is going to arrive at the MEM and the training facilities and say where do I sign, its all about the money. But the DC isn't saying that's the case? I guess it's the bigger picture, players perhaps feel crap stadium = crap club, looking beyond the comments does this also mean there's no prospect of the UWE starting this year, or do players only look a season or two ahead?

Pay them enough and they will sign. They can play football in lots of pretty away grounds for as long as we're in a decent league.
Besides, I think players would likely rather play in a tatty ground in front of 9k than a new stadium in front of 5k

Little bit of subject, and it's be mentioned a couple of times already..... Went to the mem today for the first time since the end of the season, and the pitch looks totally outstanding... It's good enough to play crown green bowls on!!! Bought the away shirt which looks very nice, apparently selling like hot cakes!
