because on the previous "near agreements" the UWE moved the "goal Posts" so they had to start again. The family got watered off with that so gave them a deadline this time. UWE could not be arsed to reply. the rest is history More Henbury BS? Sorry but you've lost all credibility on here, compared to the likes of Gasincider, with your constant stadium hints which never turned out to be correct. Although as I said even if UWE didn't respond you'd have thought after spending £m's and years in talks with them, somebody from our legal team would have just emailed or called them to check they didn't intend responding and that the deal was dead, before appearing in front of the press to announce to the world the deal was off. More Topper BS ? How do you know somebody did not ring the UWE PS Listen to what Chairman said in his interview, he said they went back to the UWE with a deal very close numerous times

You are so wrong....... he worked for South Glos for the last 2 years as a contractor now works on the stupid power station in Somerset (about to be delayed again by the Govt) but will be back soon in Kingswood working on elements of Cribbs causway, again on a short term contract So get your facts right before shooting your mouth off

I don'the think the landing lights comment came anywhere near the watertight contract quote in the great scheme of things.

Hence why TW was wheeled out for the press conference when we eventually lost the court case?

The passage of time teaches you that often people tell you:
-what they think you want to hear -enough to keep you quiet for the moment -the good news and not the bad news OR -what are euphemistically called 'white lies 'for the greater good.
I don't think we'll get a new ground. Others have tried and failed..and they had local knowledge. A site has to be identified, agreement made with the local authority and local residents placated, plans drawn up, submitted and approved, financial backers found.............
I'm resigned to trudging to the Mem for the rest of my lifetime...........and, to be honest, I'm not too disappointed.

Long term at the mem in it's current state is unsustainable, will be the death of this football club.

Five more years at the Mem. At least.
What a depressing prospect.
No wonder there isn't much positivity around.

No doubt we will all be hanging on Waels every word with Twentyman on Saturday, we need reassurance from our owners especially after the brief forced statement last Wednesday night which simply was not good enough and then just echoed by our Chairman the following day.

For me either a) we are playing hardball in which case it is in our favour to do everything possible to make it look like we are not interested and the plan is dead (until we get terms we want or we don't) or b) we aren't going to see a new ground in our lifetimes.
I've given up on the idea to be honest. I didn't trust the previous board to deliver it and I don't expect this one to either.

That was my first thought as posted on here when UWE went public with their seeming shock and bitter disappointment it wouldnt happen.

Funny how we see things differently, i saw the vice chancellor's statement as a "come and get me" type call to any other interested parties who fancy building a sports venue with full planning permission.
I'm sure ideally in UWE's eyes it would be a full on athletics facility which isn't available locall y and a major asset for a uni. And, i hate to say it but maybe yet another arm to Bristol Sport. He can easily afford it, would be a popular scheme for west Country people and would be a further kick in the teeth to us.
I personally feel we should get back round the table and see if a further compromise can be found.

I'm pretty sure the application was put in by Bristol Rovers, so if the UWE want to build a stadium they will have to apply for a new planning application and all the fun that entails
