Jeez we've played 3 games. Let's see where we are after 10 before we start about bad /great signings or improved / going backwards shall we ? Makes me laugh coming on here sometimes.

Not only that but that's a win away from home in the bag and early on - big monkey off our back that.
I'd still like a couple of new players in before the end of the window. Ollie Clarke showed how important a DM is in our side - ideally we need someone as good/better than him so at the very least we have quality in back-up. I like Ollie don't get me wrong - but you always want to improve on what you've got if you're going to move forward.
Then we also desperately need a LM/W.
We also need a goal for Nichols ASAP to do his confidence some good. As, at the moment, I do worry we will be a little short on the goals front. Nothing to worry about majorly in terms of staying up - but serious concern if we have ambitions of promotion.

I think most people would agree with you, but I reckon a left winger will be the only other signing we see before the end of the transfer window. Bola or Telford could do the role until the next window, but it'd better to sign a specialist winger. We have plenty of goals in this team, don't worry. Sercombe, Telford and Nichols all have goals in them, so we have more threat than last season.

I'm pretty sure if we looked back at the forum after 3 or 4 games of the last 3 seasons under DC there would similar posts to this thread, we just seem to have mediocre starts under DC, let's just hope we have a similar conclusion to this season as we have had before.
Saturday was my first game of the season, and to be honest, I was pleasantly surprised. Apart from the last 3 minutes I thought we looked pretty good, Sercombe looks like a very decent player, Slocombe looked solid enough, made a good save low to his right in the first half, Nichols looked less effective but probably better than Luke James, Telford ran around a lot, wouldn't disagree that we probably need another option up front/on the wing though. All in all though I did think we played with a better tempo than last season and I think we have a decent chance at being up near the top. We've played Peterborough and Charlton, both of whom have had good starts and played Bury off the park for long periods, albeit they do have Lee Clarke in charge, so.

The point made by the OP was ok. To get all 3 points away to a club that many were comparing us to in pre season and complaining we weren't spending as much as them is a very good result. We can't draw too many conclusions from only 3 games and need to wait until mid September at the earliest before we see any real stuff emerging. But this is a forum and people will go from one extreme to the other, after a win we'll be in the top six and after a defeat or two we're going to struggle. Who knows, I thought Bury were going to have a good season but perhaps they won't. Again too early to say. All I can say is DC has done some good work with with his keepers, we're much stronger. LS looks a very good signing and with OC looking as if he's back on form after Saturday it's a much more balanced midfield with OC there. We've just got to give the forwards a bit of time to gel, work together and improve. In the meantime BB needs to keep scoring. Another reason for having a bit more patience and not drawing too much out of the first few results is that under DC we are notoriously slow starters. We never seem to get it right in August and sometimes it takes until after Christmas before we do. We will get better I'm sure others will disagree but I think the lack of communication and the withdrawal from the UWE project has really hit the confidence of the fans and the supporters. It was always a fear after a long time with no news coming from the club and any forum is a breeding ground for rumour and supposition. Put that together with two losses in the first two league matches and it has become a really c*** few weeks. The news has hit the confidence in the club and it has coloured the opinions and feelings of lots of posters who care deeply about Rovers. To have had the hopes of the last few years about the UWE finally dashed especially when there seems to have been no plan B has been a big disappointment. But when it comes to the disappointment League we qualify for Europe every year, it's what being a Rovers fan has always been about!! UTG!
ps win against Fleetwood this week and all the talk will be about the top six!

People reading way to much into this it's easy Charlton should have got at least a point Peterborough played crap lost end of Bury sounds like we played well 3 points on the board season up and running panic over Not sure we deserved a point at Charlton given we didn't create a single chance against 10 men, it looks like we've taken 3 league games to get our season going. Having done so we've now got another three tough looking fixtures. Didn't create a single chance? Looking at the highlights there was: Lines good chance from a cross; save from Sercombe; tip-over from Broadbent. And that's just 2 minutes of highlights.

Yes but that was as good as it got. If you were at the game then you would have realised it didn't seem like we created much. Too much sideways passing with no penetration or movement. Anyway we have moved on from that. Saturday will be tough.

I agree though that our build-up was too slow.

So, we've now beaten Fleetwood by one goal more than last season.
In the corresponding fixtures coming up against Bradford and Walsall, we drew both 1-1, so if we can win either, we'll still be continuing to do better than we did last season.

If we get promoted after 46 games we are doing better than last season and that's for sure.
