Game No 8
Opponents Bradford Away
Lost 1-3
Team Performance Mark out of 10
Slocombe Hardly going to shine behind such an awful defensive performance and did ok 5
Leadbitter Would question why he returned, Caught out too often and couldn't deliver an accurate cross 3
Burn Sorry but awful, slow, clumbersome and just didn't mark his player, does not look a League standard player 2
Broadbent Don't see yet what many see in him. Was turned too often but the best of a poor bunch of defenders 4
Brown Was caught out so often it was embarrassing but not helped by Moore in front of him. Time for a rest 3
O. Clarke Did some good things but for every good skill came two bad ones and looked lost when Bradford had possession 3
Lines Tried hard and broke play up when he could and tried to keep possession but overall pretty disappointing 4
Sercombe A major disappointment based on form so far. Should have shot when breaking through but failed really like the rest of midfield 4
Moore Can't really think of anything positive other than should have equalised with the header that was cleared off the line 2
Bodin Another goal and some sparkling moments but overdid it too often and didn't affect the game much 6
Harrison The best player on our side fighting a lone battle and troubled Bradford with his power in the air and skilful control 7 MOM
Subs
Nichols Brightened up our performance with direct and skilful runn ing. He deserved the goal when he hit the bar and Bodin stuck the rebound away. 7
Gaffney Did OK in a short time on the pitch but looks a bit disillusioned at being left out when playing well. 5.5
Crowd Quite noisy and a goof following of just over 400 when you consider it was on TV but difficult to compete with a 19000 crowd with their team playing well 6
Bradford 8 They were a good team but were probably made to look better by a dismal Rovers performance where we constantly gave the ball away in most areas of the pitch
Team performance summed up Wasteful, predictable, all over the place when out of possession but still could have scored three with a bit of luck
Defence summed up Not sure that we have the right back position sorted as we gave the opposition too much space out there which come the death they exploited but overall a competant display.
Midfield summed up Some good moments but allowed Bradford to dictate the middle by not looking an organised unit especially when it came to marking
Attack summed Up Had some good opportunities on limited possession but we seriously lack any pace other than Harrison
Man of Match Harrison An all round good performance
and deserved a goal, showed up our centre halves when it came to defensive headers
Final Comment After the last run of games this was a disappointment and to be honest I fail to see why Leadbitter replaced the impressive Partington or why we changed formation again. I really feel DC needs to look carefully at his selection and tactics. Telford must wonder what he has to do to win a place and the pairing of two inexperienced unproven at this level centre halves was always going to end up in disaster as the signs were there against Wycombe. Failure to sign any players this week may cost us dear because with Sincs injured and Moore not consistent (unless poor is a consistency!) coupled with Ollie Clarke still struggling for form then we are very predictable and there is little competition for places in midfield or out wide.
Luckily its early days and we have plenty of time to put things right but we really do have to decide what our best team is and give it a run of games.
