Slocombe- 7 Partington- 8- had their left winger in his pocket and good physical presence. Broadnent- 8- solid apart from one misplaced pass first half. Menayese- 9- outstanding. Stood tall when it was 0-0 making many crucial headers. Bola- 9.5- first half outstanding defending (especially heading). This put the foundation for the second half when he was allowed to express himself going forward. Clarke- 7- solid, did nothing of note. Lines- 8.5- calmness on the ball. Kept things ticking over. Sercombe- 9- was everywhere, lots of energy, pressing, classy passing and a beauty of a goal. Gaffney- 8- missed a relatively easy chance first 10 minutes, kept running, set up Bodin and reacted well for his goal. Bodin- 8- opened the floodgates Harrison- 9.5- MOM- outstanding. Misssed a couple of easyish chances first half, hence not a 10, but two well taken goals, won everything in the air, didn't give their defenders a minutes peace and defended well.
Nicholls- 7- intelligent running, passing, build up play impressive. Sinclair- 7.5- looks fresh, good to have him back. Lovely flick nearly set up a goal. Telford- 8- should have scored a 1 on 1 but got his rewards. Looked lively. Can we fit him in with Gaffney and Ellis?
DC- 10 Northampton- 2 Crowd- 9

My own opinions from the game.
Slocombe 7.5 One good save in tha second half.
Partington 7 Was probably our quietest performer but enjoyed himself down the right wing. Menayese 8 Really solid first half. Slightly untidy in the second but always cleared his lines. Broadbent 8 Mostly solid defensively but did play a couple of loose forward balls. Bola 8.5 Got forward well and was confident on the ball.
Lines 8 Thought the whole midfield worked well as a unit but Lines spread the ball well. O. Clarke 7.5 Getting back up to the player of last season. Sercombe 9 Two assists and a goal. Bodin 7.5 Played well in the time he was on the pitch.
Gaffney 8 Worked the channels and put some good balls across the box. Reacted ahead of everyone else to get his goal. Harrison 8.5 Worked hard and got two good goals. Playing with so much confidence now.
Subs: Nichols 6.5 Obviously missed a pen but played well generally. Good cross for Sercombe's goal. Sinclair 7 Good to see him back. Crossed for Lines and slipped Telford through for a one-on-one. Telford 7 In the right place for his goal.
Crowd 8 We always seem to get a good game atmosphere at Sixfields Ref 5 Bit dodgy in the first half, can't recall a decision (except for the sending off) he had to make in the second. Northampton 3 Lacked impetus and convinction. Probably missing O'Toole.

Slocombe 7 not a great deal to do
Partington 8 Solid Menayese 8 Great game to make his debut but in truth he probably couldn't have had a n easier match to make his first start Broadbent 8 Very encouraging Bola 8 an exciting player, looking forward to seeing his development and hope we can bring him back next season when I think he will be better again
Lines 8 Great way to clock up 300 O. Clarke 7 Still not up to the standard of last season Sercombe 8 Great goal and commited performance Bodin 6 super strike for the goal but concerning we may lose him for a few weeks
Gaffney 8 Both Gaffers and Ellis as playing there best and most consistent football since they have been at the club - strange it has taken 2 years to pair them together Harrison 8
Subs: Nichols 7 So pleased the away fans did not get on his back - lost a point for missing the penalty Sinclair 6 nice to see him back to add a bit of extra energy Telford 7 could have had another when through 1 on 1
Crowd 7 great support but a few idiots seemed to be trying to spoil it Ref 7 Northampton 2 Looks like 2 of the relegation places are already decided, Plymouth were equally as bad last week but we let them off the hook by not being ruthless

Slocombe 7 clean sheet.
Partington 7 always an outlet with decent quality. Menayese 8 won some vital headers first half. Calm and solid on debut. Broadbent 8 Dominant with good physical presence. Bola 9.5 MOTM total quality with fantastic ball retention skills. A constant threat all afternoon.
Lines 8 ran the midfield with a will to get on the ball. O. Clarke 7 broke up play and stuck to his task. Sercombe 9 classy performance watch out Oxford.
Bodin 7 great goal injury disappointing. Gaffney 9 tore Northampton to shreds with his movement. Harrison 9 would have given him a 10 if he stayed on, again ripped them apart but also defended stoutly.
Subs: Nichols 7 clever footballer jury out on goal scoring. Sinclair 7 typical running and 100% effort. Telford 7 looks a goal scorer needs a run in team.
Crowd 9 rewarded Ref 7 decent Northampton 3 devoid of confidence, clueless tactics.

Slocombe 7 - Not tested at all Partington 7.5 - Better, keep him in Right back, never Centre half! Menayese 8.5 - Outstanding Debut, nice he came right over to fans at end (as did Bola) Broadbent 8 - Proud to have him in the Team Bola 9 MOM - Ooozed Class, easily his best performance for us Sercombe 8.5 - Quality Player Lines 8.25 - A Good Performance from Linesy once we got going Clarke 7.5 Just when I was thunking we needed sinclair back to replace him, he puts in a much better perfromance Bodin 7 quiet until he scored, & then off so lower score but not sure if im doing it right! Gaffney 7.5 I didnt think he was at his best if Im honest Harrison 8.5 Most improved player based on how he was a couple of year ago, Defending also quality
Nichols 7.5 - Though just knew he would miss the pen! Sinclair 7 - Good to have him back Telford 7.5 - Time to start him?
Crowd Gas 12 ! - It was brilliant Ref 7 Northampton 2 - Shockingly bad team, and crowd

Results in and Marc Bola is Man of the Match with a score of 8.90
Bola achieved his first league MotM in just his fifth league game. Lee Brown has not achieved a MotM in any of the 143 league games he has played since these threads started.
The previous highest league rating of the season was Sercombe's 8.14 at Bury a score surpassed by six players in this one game.
Menayese's 8.3 was the highest debut score by any player in these threads. The previous bests were Gaffney's 8.0 and Sweeney's 7.7.
The starting XI average was 8.13, the second highest ever. The only score higher is the 8.50 for the away game at Bolton last season.
All players scored a 7 or above for the first time ever. It was also the highest combined rating for the three substitutes ever.
Northampton's 2.6 was the second lowest ever opposition rating. Only Alfreton at home in the Conference (2.5) rated lower. For comparison, Northampton were rated 3.5 for the game at the Mem earlier this year.
Slocombe 7.2
Partington 7.7 Menayese 8.3 Broadbent 8.1 Bola 8.9
Lines 8.5 O. Clarke 7.6 Sercombe 8.8 Bodin 7.4
Gaffney 8.3 Harrison 8.8
Subs: Nichols 7.0 Sinclair 7.1 Telford 7.4
Crowd 8.3 Ref 6.6 Northampton 2.6

Yeah, he's been MotM or runner-up for five games in a row, only the fourth player to achieve that feat. Trotman did it twice, Lockyer in League Two and Ollie Clarke last season.
