The same people who forked out 375,000 for Nichols, maybe? Blimey! the fee has gone from a rumoured £250k to a new rovers transfer record of £375k,by january it will £500k i reckon. Pretty sure Darragh Macanthony stated that Posh sold him for £350,000 plus future add-ons. (I misremembered the 375 bit.) In any case, that's missing the point of the post which was a reply to the implicit 'who is going to pay for BRFC players, coz we don't spend any money?' And my reply implied that we do spend money.

Well, I've been advocating believing Wael, etc, here, and not listening to stupid rumours, so when you say 'people', do you mean different people? Like, funny how some people will believe something, and other people will believe something else? Coz, you know, that's not actually that funny. Funny how some people drive blue cars, and other people drive red cars. What a crazy world we live in!!!!??>!!

We've never refuted that figure so nothing to believe it's incorrect, the fact the UWE talks broke down suggests the landing lights were never even switched on!

We signed him before "the change" though. You know before UWE,colony and 11 ish new players were all just around the corner.

The landing lights was a metaphor to describe the state of UWE negotiations. Istm it was pretty apt, coz we were close to finalising the deal. As it happened, it crashed and burned. But that just shows how apt the metaphor was.

And that's the point, isn't it. It's all very well winning a game 11 - 0, but you have to wonder why we were playing against such lowly opposition. There's absolutely no challenge or opportunity for development in playing against a team so obviously inferior. I would like to see this squad go up against some reserve teams from league 1 & 2. That would give a more accurate indication of where these players are, and who's worth retaining etc. Our U18s lost 6 - 0 to Portsmouth on Saturday - let's hope the young lads learnt some lessons from that rather than playing a game where you're 10 - 0 up at half-time ! I presume the defenders played in attack 2nd half and the forwards vice -versa !

Re the post about the Sh1t showing an interest in one of these lads, I believe the agreement only concerned SENIOR players. Believe me, if those scumbags wanted one of our junior players they'd find a way around any agreement. The Rosy-Cheeked Lady Garden didn't get to be a billionaire by being a nice guy in business, and a verbal contract isn't worth the paper it's written on. My understanding is that the agreement was that the 2 clubs would no longer conduct business with each other unless to can show otherwise .

Dunwald is under contract and I'm told Kavanagh is also. But the premis is right. If we truly rate them, and a couple of others that I won't name on here, ( don't want to give heads up to scouts from anywhere), then putting them under contract is the only way forward. But who is going to pay for it? The same people who forked out 375,000 for Nichols, maybe? Would that be the same people who used the money from the Taylor transfer to sign Nicols? Not really them forking out the money is it ?sorry to be pedantic.😉

So macanthony always tells the truth? It wouldnt in any way look good for him if the fee was embellished would it? Our owners are not in my good books but not commenting on an "undisclosed fee" agreed by both clubs seems like the correct approach to me.

Not commenting on undisclosed fees is a good approach, obviously. And he seems like a pretty huge twat, to me. But as there is no other word to go on, and he seems to have not that much to gain by lying blatantly, and a lot to lose, it seems reasonable to me to go with that, until we get better info. Obviously you can believe what you want, but if I replied to your post about that with 'So macanthony always lies?' you'd wonder what the f**k I was on, wouldn't you.

It wasnt intended as an attack on your post, macanthony strikes me as a man with a huge ego so just not convinced his version of the fee is correct. Even if its £250k its not looking like money well spent right now. Ps i dead against undisclosed fees myself.
