He had only 6 months left on his contract, £100K would have been decent money for somebody with 18+ months till left on his contract. If he had 18 months left on his contract then he would of cost considerably more. Good Business. Yeah I’d imagine we got about a quarter of Billy’s real worth £500,000 when he’s worth £2m and the same Mensah £100,000 when he’s worth £400,000 but that’s just my realistic opinion. What goes around comes around as they say.

I saw it mentioned on here first but it seems to have taken on a 'disclosed' unofficial life of its own!

Some were suggesting DC wasn't going to get any money. We can't tell also whether we were paying a fee for the experienced player that pulled out last minute.
It's not to paint a picture that everything is perfect, but given the constant stream of negativity a little bit of credit and respect that the club are trying to do business wouldn't do those spraying constant negativity any harm
Experienced player pulled out last minute I'm not convinced on that tickle tackle unless theirs names mentioned always hush hush at the gas. It's taking some getting used to, Rovers being so tight lipped about everything but I think it's a massive improvement on the way things were done in the past. Loose lips sink ships.

Although i am happy to see a new face at the club i am reserving my judgement regarding if board are seriously backing DC,lets see if we get anymore in by end of transfer window, we have got our poundland signing lets see if we can upgrade to a coupe of Marks and Sparks or J Lewis signings, lets not forget our two best players have left the club in the last year UTG ! A 23 year old playing regularly at a top conference team for what is sure to be at least £100k transfer fee dosnt really strike me as poundland for a club like bristol rovers! Oh and how do you know we paid anywhere near that much ?

We've signed a (hopefully) good prospect from the National League and all is well with the world. We really do get what we deserve don't we. A wonder that Aldershot were prepared to end his contract free and for nothing though isn't it? Bet it was busy round yours on New Years wasn't it? The Americans, The Chinese and a White Knight. Were Mike Turl and Kev invited? You could've had an 80s night and called it The Corridors of T'Pau-er.

I know how long he had on his contract it just dosnt make sense for a team to sell a leading player if your 2nd in the league for less than £100k. Obviously im offering an opinion as the fee is undisclosed. Im just wondering what sort of players people are expecting us to bring in when we clearly cant pay large salaries especially as were following FFP rules? Can you name one Div 1 club which isn't following the FFP rules? I've no idea why that keeps being brought up lately as every club as to follow the rules, now we've sold BB our turnover this season must be mid-table, or thereabouts, so we should be able to build a team capable of finishing mid-table or better.

As long as cash invested by directors is in the form of equity rather than loans you can bypass ffp.

Oh and how do you know we paid anywhere near that much ? Its a calculated guess of course. Aldershot are 2nd in the conference, there in touching distance of a return to league football. I actually think its a bit more than 100k but obviously all we have with undisclosed fees is what we think it might of been. I reckon tom nichols was just under £250k but thats just my guess.

You obviously havnt read the rules in relation to league 1 and how owners can get around it if they gift the club money as opposed to loan the club money. When city walked our division recently lansdown simply gifted the club money to give his team an advantage but he might or might not ever get that money back. Do wigan, blackburn, charlton or bradford do that, ive no idea. I read that the scunthorpe owner has got around ffp rules by gifting money in recent seasons. Actually in league 1 its within the rules of FFP to gift any amount of money to your club but maybe nobody is? What im saying is the gift option is not available to rovers because the owners are not going down that route.
