...but I'm enjoying being a Gashead right now more than I have done for a long, long time.
We finally have a 'proper' Bristol Rovers squad to support again. Every player is busting a gut each time they put on the quarters, and you can see that they're absolutely loving and thriving off the level of support they're getting week in week out.
Regardless of whether we gain promotion/make the play offs this season or not, the likes of Mansell, Sinclair & Taylor are a joy to watch compared to some of the overinflated ego's we've had prancing about at the Mem in recent years (naming no names...*ahem* O'Toole).
I think that this season will be one that instills a lot of pride back into the fanbase, and it's great to have a young, forward-thinking manager in charge.
Obviously this unbeaten run won't last forever, and we'll probably suffer more defeats this season to teams we don't feel we should be losing to. But this squad are proving that they deserve our support and patience throughout this season IMO, as we're showing right now that we can more than compete with any team at this level.
Onwards and upwards!

Was thinking the same so would you prefer still being in league 2 and struggling or winning games and near the top of the league in the conference I no what I would choose looking forward to each game now.

We may not have been struggling in L2!!! Glad the wasters are gone, and hope we return with this squad of players. Don't forget where we were when we beat Southampton 3-2 at St Mary's or Paul Buckle was right! Expectations.......

Onwards and upwards! in many ways the level of football you're playing at is immaterial. Some of the football in the Conference has been far better than the muscular "up and under" crap we had to endure in L2. I thought the football yyesterday was excellent, ball on the ground and to feet, fast flowing end to end stuff. credit to Woking as well, they also played their part in an entertaining game..

We finally have a squad of players who are proud to wear the quarters, not a bunch of mercenaries out for a good payday.
I know it's a long way to go but if Clarke and the lads do pull off the impossible and take us straight back up then that will be some achievement.

Regarding "pull off the impossible" I think some would describe it as ground breaking. Very few expected us to win this league. With present form, we might just do it. What a turnaround!

I think that's too simplistic. This summer was always going to see lots of change from DC - I'm convinced of that. He clearly wasn't impressed by a lot of the personnel at the club last season, and it was such a huge task asking him to 'turn everything around' in 8 games. I'm not saying it's guaranteed, but judging by performances/work rate/team spirit this season I don't necessarily think we would have struggled. He missed out on a lot of targets due to them 'going to FL clubs', so who knows which players would have come in. Look at Wycombe this season, they're doing quite well (which is why it is so frustrating that we went down in the first place). Whilst I'm enjoying the football and results right now there's no way I'd have sacrificed our League status for it.

Yes we have only to look at Wycombe they were shocking last season and have re-grouped and kicked on, there is no proof we wouldn't have done the same. That said we are where we are and have to deal with it and slowly we're making in roads. In retrospect would i have preferred to have stayed in League football and possibly struggled - Yes definitely, it is a blot on our history i never wanted to see.

As long as its not a long stay, I'm enjoying playing the new clubs, and something different from losing every week in league two, which is hardly glamous itself.
It's also nice being the 'big boys' of the league.

Agree with everything on here now. We really have the "feel good" factor back and when you're playing well and winning a few games the odd defeat is so much easier to take. "If" we can go up with this squad we would do well in League 2 imo.

Yeah I would never give up league football just to win more games but I have been bringing my 10 year old son for the last 4 years and in those 4 years all he has seen is poor football and a unhappy memorial stadium now he has a big smile on his face when talking about rovers to his friends.

I think what we`re seeing is players who have worked their way up the non leagues, know what it is to be amateur/part time, and are now really appreciating being professional footballs, and realise how privileged they are.
Yesterday, seeing them all working so hard, and putting their bodies on the line for the cause, was a joy to see. Long may it continue.

I'm loving these posts. Everyone's enjoying talking about the Gas and from what I hear/read every one of our players is giving 100%. Fan bloody tastic. Sometimes in life you have to hit the bottom before you can bounce back up. My fellow Gas Heads, I don't want to get carried away, but we're on the up. Why not? It's about time. Someone's treating me to lunch later on today, which I will enjoy immensely, as I shall be raising a glass to our Club, our players, our manager and of course my fellow fans who must be congratulated on a great turn out yesterday with even better ones to come I'm sure. I love you Rovers. UTG!

Great post, I am actually looking forward to going to games atm for the first time in a long time, the effort of the whole team is there to see, you can also see them really thriving off of our amazing support and I think they're really playing for DC, as for DC himself I think he's definitely settling into the position and learning very quickly from mistakes, I really think he can manage us for a few years and bring us happier times. I know our run isn't going to continue forever and we will lose a game sooner or later, but I'm starting to be convinced that the spirit in the squad will see us over a few little blips here and there, and we'll soon get back to winning ways. UTG!!!

Good points that mate, I go with my 10year old son and all he's really known is is being utter crap bar the odd few games. The atmosphere at the last 2 games have been real old school and prompted me to tell him that was what it was like in the 'good old days'.
