Hi gasheads, I’m working in Bristol for a while so going to watch Rovers v Scunthorpe. I haven’t been to see Rovers since a game against Burnley in the eighties when Davies scored that free kick . Been chatting to people at work and they all recommend Rovers . I’ve explained the slight squeamishness of watching a team called Rovers in blue and white but I’ve been told you lot are solid real footie fans so I’ve picked you . Im looking forward to standing up watching a game too. What’s not to like ? I went to a Plymouth match few months ago and boy are those pasties tasty, what’s Rovers best grub ? Any recommendations re good pubs nearby ? I can’t drink cider though, how can you have a few of them and stay standing? Respect .

I googled the Wellington and first thing that came up was something about a woman punching a police horse after a game. See what I mean about that cider ?

The Welly is very safe.
The bar at the back of the North Terrace is fine too but gets busy.
You could also try the Royal Oak about a 5 mins walk from the ground.
The food is pretty good at the ground now.
The sausage rolls or chicken pies are great.

There’s a bar on the back of the terrace ? Great stuff. sausage rolls it is then. I hate Burnley too Paul , years and years of sh**e football and now I live away the buggers are swanning it in the prem. Still, having Joey Barton in claret and blue really helped improve our image.

Good choice. We’re a fantastic club with loyal fans who support our club through thick and thin whether we’ve got a great manager a pathetic one , good owners , bad ones we never turn our back on our club unlike the 82ers. 11,000 saw us relegated from the football league we averaged about 7,000 non league and we’ve bounced back to league 1 with the help of that loyal support. I’d recommend the north terrace behind the goal if you like atmosphere and standing it holds 4000 and there’s a bar behind it and the foods decent too. The toilets are crap so have a turn out before you arrive. UTG.

I remember that game. Cureton, Roberts and David Lee (the ex-Chelsea one) scored for us and Steve Davis, Graham Branch, Andy Payton and Andy Cooke scored for them. I always enjoyed our battles with them and admired Steve Davis and Glen Little from a distance. That 3-4 game season Davis scored 14 goals for a combination of Luton and Burnley, not bad for a centre back! Little was always a class act on the wing and could turn a full back inside out and get a goal or two.

I'd recommend the northend bar if you want to have a chat with some random gasheads & enjoy the atmosphere, will be very busy due to the cold. The sportsman or Anchor are 5-10 mins from ground if you want to inconspicuously watch footy on TV.

Myself and GHB excluded. UTG!

I remember that game we lost 1-0 at turfmoor in the season where we monumentally f@cked it right up , probably the most one sided match I’ve ever seen Rovers play in and how we never won about 7-1 I’ll never know ,I think at one point we had 4 strikers on the pitch as I’m sure Olly brought on Zamora and Ellington for the last 10 minutes to partner Jason Roberts and Cureton trying to salvage a point, Zamora hit the bar from a corner with his first touch and to think we finished outside the playoffs after losing to relegated Caaaadif last game of the season whilst Burnley claimed runners up 🙈

Just horrible seeing us crumble in those last 10 games!
