Looks like sinclair and ollie clarke are unfit so a great chance for luke russe who played in the west ham home defeat. Must admit im a bit shocked that smith has been dropped. It is a good chance for Russe but i would have thought Partington could have played as the defensive midfielder today he’s done well there before. I think hes opted for mobility and aggression over experience by picking russe in that role.

Hearing that some players have been snowed in this week - maybe missed a few days training, so not playing today? Or maybe DC has been on the sauce!

Very much a defensive midfielder and very short as I recall but a very busy player. It really shows though that we really needed to sign a defensive midfielder in the window but at least it gives Russe a chance which is what having an academy is all about. Not convinced on the swopping goalkeepers as can'r recall that many mistakes that Smith has made and we haven't exactly been conceding that many. OK he doesn't come for crosses but DC knew that when he selected him over Slocombe for so long- strange decision unless Smith is carrying a knock and not really fit enough to start.

Partington has done decent job for us in that position but if DC thinks Russe is ready..... Does anyone know if Russe is naturally a defensive midfielder as he would need to be in the current line-up. DC...
"Injuries to Stuart Sinclair and Ollie Clarke, so Russe comes in for his first league start.
He is a lad who has done very well for our U23s and like the owners I am very keen to promote the youth when I think they are ready.
With Ollie Clarke and Sinclair injured, who are two of your midfield dogs, Luke Russe is a similar sort of player and we needed someone dogging around in the midfield against a good possession team".

Perhaps that is to combat the lack of stature in front of the keeper. Slocombe will come and claim, Smith doesn't and with a small defence that can be a problem.

Happy Smith dropped - about time ! Hopefully Slocombe can cement his place for the rest of the season. Nothing wrong with Smith. DC doesn't agree with you: "Sam’s come into goal to keep Smudge on his toes, he’s made some good saves, but he’s… but all my players have got to improve in areas of their game, and we keep working on those players, but Sam comes in for his opportunity. I don’t do it to be funny, I just think there are areas of the game he needs to improve on, certainly; Sam’s obviously well experienced, he’s been training well, been patient in the wings, didn’t do a lot wrong to come out of the team early in the season, so he comes in for another opportunity."

Can't believe people actually watch 'final score' its like watching an exam, soccer Saturday is like watching it with your mates having a laugh, they also feature league 1 & 2 through the season, not just when no one else is playing.

It would be a strange coincidence if he was injured just has DC signed TC! I wonder if RS has a clause in his contract saying he must be in the 1st team squad meaning TB has to miss out? The question is why should Broadbent miss out when he's better than the others ?? According to Keith Brookman on the BBC / Gasplayer feed Broadbent is there just didn't make the squad!

Pretty poor game so far. Byron Moore is awful. Harrison has only had half chances. Bennett almost just scored tho.

I think one problem for broadbent is that james clarke is more versatile to have on the bench as he can play all across the back 4.
