Hi folks. I have been informed that apparently we will be extending the dri build stand in the close season to increase the capacity to 13- 14000 . Can’t give too much detail yet ie whether this is just the opening stages of a bigger development but let’s just see if the information given to me proves to be right in the summer. Utg.

They need to knock the dri build down..not just extend it.

I could be wrong but I think your mate is on the wind up !. Why on earth would you want to extend 'the oldest tallest most difficult structure' ?. Why not the tent end ? Or extend either side of the west ?. Of course S.T's haven't been released yet so we can't rule out ground seating 100% .

They had better hurry up and submit the planning application then if work is going to start in the summer. The fact that it hasn’t would suggest that this is male cow poo.

The last application was April 2017 ... planningonline.bristol.gov.uk/online-applications/simpleSearchResults.do?action=firstPageEDIT. The above should be the complete list since 1997 of plans - click each page ...

Not sure what the planning regs are reg temporary structures, I'd imagine pretty relaxed as we are masters of scaffolds tents and portacabins etc....
The problem I have with this is the 2-3000 capacity increase.... There's nowhere to put it.....

Gloucestershire cricket will do it for the INDIA clash in July and in 2019 for the 5 internationals. I assume (if true) it will be behind east terrace near tea/pies hut. This could make sense to increase away allocation if Sunderland Birmingham Swindon or Coventry join us . But no way will it be a solid structure linking onto main stand..

Crucial piece of evidence missing - all that was mentioned was "in the close season". Didn't mention which year/decade/millenia. When are we going to land on Mars? Should coincide with the opening of this "extension".

Impressive peice of engineering and architecture but as a football stand ? No ta It more the idea of doing it bit-by-bit rather than copying the design exactly. They are also looking to develop the rest, albeit with a lot more land to work with!!

Surely, Planning Permission for redevelopment of the Mem is just a formality. I can't see anything going wrong with that

There is no way we can leave any of the stadium as it. Each sides needs to be knocked down and rebuilt. Side by side's with seats, dont get the obsessions with safe standing from some. Clubs needs to be brought into the present.
I am hoping we are looking at other locations on quiet personally. The mem site is too small and with a increased capacity of even a couple thousamd from our average and parking and traffic will be a nightmare.

Joking aside I hope we do the Mem up I’d rather have a 20,000 capacity stadium where we are than move. Even if it is stand by stand. I don’t want to sit in a giant metal slugs belly though.

I always love a new stadium thread.
Well, I say love, but I mean the hope, not the expectation.
I hope it's true, but I expect it's not.

The east stand should be the last to be done imo. Where else would they host the match day hospitality and given 35% of the grounds capacity, together with part of the away end is in that section it’s the biggest part of the ground closed.
You won’t demolish it and rebuild it in 3 months either. And certainly not with any planning already approved.
If the mem redevelopment is the plan then I would start with the North Terrace.

Each time we have been given consent for additional temporary seating it has been granted as long as the capacity is not increased.
