I was a Bristol Rugby supporter for a fair while. I could just about take them relocating to Ashton gate but I stopped going after they introduced red on the kits and the clubs identity started to become sterile and franchised. Now this just takes the water. A well and established clubs heritage and tradition has been ripped up for a tax dodgers ambitions of them becoming more marketable so he can ultimately make more profit. It just makes me so angry. What sort of gates do they get, these days? They got 14k for games in the Premiership but in the Championship, I think it’s usually 7-8k

If he didn't charge £30 upwards for a ticket maybe more would show up!

Massive sellout job here, if anything they have lost their identity. what happened to the Rugby club that loved playing a war memorial site - when it suits them aye. A Bear is probably quite easy to market that the only reason i can think of for choosing bears. Bears are big and strong and kids also like bears. But WTF does a bear have to do with Bristol? Ain't the avon packet sposed to have a bear pit, bristol rugby club used to be called the shoguns a while back

Shame that a famous club like Bristol Rugby club has had its heart and soul ripped out and become another play thing for a plastic franchise. Changing the name and home colours, Embarrassing really. not unexpected though, i though his ego would have called em ,the dog first 15

What a sell out! Plenty of red in the new kit as well!!! We don't even have bears at Bristol Zoo! and the last one was a Polar Bear that went mad in captivity! Muppets! Still, it's only rugby On that theme Fozzie was a muppet, a bear and a comedian. Perhaps they should call themselves Bristol Fozzies cos they are clearly muppets for rolling over for Lansdown, and Lansdown is clearly a Dam comedian.

Ashton Gate to be renamed The Bear Pit? They are actually renaming the South Stand 'The Bear Pit' for Rugby fixtures
Honestly, that is true

Why do they need to be "Bears" when Bath & Gloucester etc stick with just the town name. I guess it gives us another reason to hate Bristol Sport.

But they'll just hibernate through the whole Premiership season next year and get relegated straight back down again - just like they did last time.

Since when does a bear 'respect the land and community in which it lives'? It's a bear, it's only interested in eating stuff and shagging, it doesn't tidy up after itself afterwards or help old badgers cross the road.
Utter nonsense

Utter nonsense They also damage trees kill bee hives and eat crops so hardly respectful to the community which it lives but like you say why would it it’s a wild animal. They might have an endless amount of money over at the franchise but that’s really all they’ve got going for them , this bear sh** has really brightened up my day hahaha !

But in Bristol isn't the Bear Pit the scruffy place where down and outs, druggies, dealers, beggars and winos gather?....oh, hang on...............

Presumably their fans are wielding their pitchforks at the affront to the clubs heritage etc, just as they were recently when deriding the fact that BRFC had robbed them of that same heritage by owning the Mem, and daring to suggest we might move out? No? I didn't think so. Tenants, changed kit, changed owners, changed name. Certainly not Bristol Rugby anymore, are they.
