It will take a fee of £800k or more to prise him away according to his local press, would we be prepared to pay that? Gary Johnson said: "Some League One clubs who are tracking him won't be able to afford him, no chance. "It could be either a big League One club or the one in the Championship. "We won't sell unless it's big money." Let's not forget the snake was worth £10m.....! Gary Johnson has to say that though, he can't say "Clubs are looking, Elsa wants to leave and so he'll go for bugger all". I'll have a Thatchers on an undisclosed fee. ;-) I'll raise you an Old Rosie on a release clause and an undisclosed fee, together with an undisclosed contract length.

Ye probably won’t happen but I have a weird gut instinct that dc will get a good backing from owners this summer although according to my dads mate who is close friends with Ian holtby he reckons the gas have no money whatsoever which has clearly been shown that we do have it probably just cause he got the sack for stealing it all! Surely Ian Holtby could not be the source of a negative story about the club. I'm properly shocked..... It’s put the (grass) seed of doubt in my mind 😂 sandly I think it’s sour grass

Not sure it's been shown we have money just that Wael knows how to spend it/increase our debts, I guess it will be a few years before the true picture is known. Why did IH quit as it seems he's left just as we might be starting to make some progress?

Why did IH quit as it seems he's left just as we might be starting to make some progress? Did he quit or was he fired? No one knows and the club haven't told us? I seem to remember we were told IH had left the club with immediate effect and nothing more. It seems to me that the owners have slowly removed everyone connected with the Higgs regime, and at the same time have plugged all the information leaks that used to drip from numerous sources, much to the chagrin of the likes of Gasincider, who seemed to have the ear to a lot of sources. He now appears to be reduced to lurking around corridors and listening at keyholes. What I do know is that we now hear nothing until the owners are ready to tell us. I think that's a far more professional way to behave, and more in keeping with a club that has Championship aspirations.

It was most definitely not IHs choice to leave the club, hence the long, gushing note announcing his departure a long time after he was suspended

I sense IH was told we had no money for v. good reasons.

At the end of the day players at this level are in it for the most money they can get - it's a short career - Eisa would be silly to sign till 2020 on low wages at Cheltenham off the back of a great goalscoring season. He would've/will be in high demand this window so I'd be surprised if his new deal didn't have some form of release clause in place, just like MT did to us.

No chance of signing Eisa, the time to sign him was when he left Greenwich.
Worth an enquiry but competition for him will be too great imo.

Even if he does have a release clause, which I don't believe he has, it would certainly be higher than the £300k or so we got for MT and would be at the £800k mark or more.

Just makes it even more gutting we got so little for Taylor when a one season wonder like Eisa is talked about in the £800k ball park

Naming the people spreading these rumours is the only way to a) gauge their credibility and b) kill them off if they're untrue. It's not Tyler's job to protect IH's reputation.

Defences to a claim for defamation include - Statement was the truth - Giving honest opinion - Statement made in the public interest If IH is spreading his own rumours I'd imagine he's probably reluctant to start bringing defamation claims.

Same goes for Bodin, considering Oxford got £2.5m+ for Marvin Johnson.
