Would you be happy if the UWE was nearing completion, but that it was going to be run for the uni's benefit and not ours? That would be a real comfort wouldn't it? Watching struggling league 1 football and relegation in a swish new stadium whilst making nothing from it and having the life-blood sucked out of the club. No money for players and DC leaving because of a lack of funding would have me dancing a merry jig of delight. I'd rather have the Mem as it is with a couple of extra tents and the club keeping all the money generated, thank you. At least the owners seem to be willing to support DC, and I have real optimism for a successful next season. We are still masters of our own destiny. If the UWE deal wasn't right then so be it. A pig wearing lipstick is still a pig. A shithead in a 3 piece suit is still a Shithead, more commonly known as the defendant. was that aimed at me? Make up any scenario you like and no I don't want us to falter but I hope for more than we're currently getting. I know I shouldn't because I'm gas and should just be grateful to have a team to support - is that right?! Oh well, I'll shut up and hope for a play off challenge in 2020!!! But surely we have to be realistic too? Two promotions in the last four years. Christ, I'd been watching Rovers for 29 years before I saw my second one. The rapid progress we have made has to level out somewhere in order for the club to catch up. On the pitch with a turnover of players and off the pitch because as Socrates points out, the club was a complete shambles before the Al Qadi's rode into town (and imo has been for much longer than that actually). We're progressing nicely.

We can get promoted without a new ground if the team is good enough. A brand new ground wont get you promoted, its about the players on the pitch.

We're progressing nicely. I admit there is progression but for my liking it's far too slow. I'm guessing we'll sign players for a combine d total of 400k at most and the rest will be free agents. There will be no progress on the ground or stadium and DC will miraculously have us challenging and the crowds will be good (for us). But, there will be no stadium progression or news on the training ground and when DC leaves.....

But little point getting promoted if we spend all season in the bottom 3 before getting relegated. it'll be interesting to see how Shrewsbury or Rotherham get on next season as neither have big grounds.

We need a new ground in the medium term to increase our revenue. The waters are muddied somewhat by the fact that most championship teams are running at a substantial loss mostly propped up by wealthy owners. Bournemouth and brentford average 10,000 with millwall, preston and QPR 13,000. Leeds average 31,000 but it dosnt seem to help that much.

I think we can survive one or two seasons in the Championship at the Mem. After that I feel the restricted revenue streams will make the difference in clubs quite stark.
That gives us three seasons to get the stadium issues sorted before we may have to start again.

Although arguably it's the infrastructure that keeps you there. Other teams have done it. Including the Gas from playing at Twerton Park. Yeovil from little better. The mem is a palace compared with those 2 grounds. Point taken about coming straight down. The league has plenty of teams playing in smaller stadiums than The Mem who have achieved promotion to the 2nd tier. Stadiums with 25000+ capacity are the minority rather than the majority in this country and I believe in any other country as well. I like the Mem it's cosy, draft proof and with a lick of paint and a few upgraded tents will provide plenty of entertaining football. Roll on next season

Nothing is black and white in this and nothing guarantees success. But it's about giving ourselves the best possible chance to both progress and then maintain that progression. If that means catching up off the pitch before taking tbe next step on it, so be it. It may be better for us in the long term.

Plenty of teams in lovely stadiums with nice infrastructure haven't had the best of times; Sunderland, Coventry, Bradford, mk dons, Blackburn...... All of those teams are more attractive to potential players than we are, all of the supporters of those teams enjoy significantly better facilities than our fans do and all have significantly larger revenue streams than we do. They have got where they are due to mismanagement from the managers, owners ect but when they do get the right people in they have the chance to progress further than we do in our current state. We have the right people at the club that will help us push forwards, this I genuinely believe, however we need to give them the best chance possible so that if/when we do achieve success we can therefore sustain it.

As well as picking up endless injuries and failing to be picked for a single game for millwall last season. Endless injuries? He broke his foot a while back, apart from that he has stayed pretty injury free. As Millwall manager Neil Harris said: “He’s played over 80 first-team games in the Championship and League One which at the age of 22 is phenomenal." He was signed as back up to James Meredith, who was ever present playing all 46 games and contributed to an outstanding defensive record of 45 goals conceded. No disgrace in not playing there. “He’s a very, very good footballer, very good going forward" said Harris.

Maybe considering they finished 8th in the Championship, Harris thinks he can attract better? I’m with Pirate, I think he’d be a good signing for us.

Don't hold your breath, I've been waiting 2 years for that. To be fair they’ve done everything they said they’d do. It’s all moving along nicely all be it slowly but the impression I got from Wael from day 1 was that it was going to be that way. If we had done a Man City it wouldn’t feel like Rovers anymore and in league 1 it can be disastrous throwing money about bringing in loads of big name players / managers. I like the way they’ve gone about their business, they’ve improved everything but not flashy just small improvements here and there and we’ve still got our identity and our great manager. I’m happy with that considering it’s only been 2 years and they spent the first year sorting out the shambles from before. Going back to DCs targets they’ve always said they’d support him in the transfer market and he gives me the impression he’s happy with what he’s been given. He’s still here , that speaks volumes. Words are just words I tend to go on what I see. After watching Rovers go in decline over the DECADES I cannot believe than anyone would turn down an instant fix with regard to the training ground, the Stadium and the team. Even non league teams have better facilities than we do. You might want to wait another 10 or 20 years but I want them to start building now. Get on with it Wael
