If they're making one big room then I'm guessing Irene's kitchen will be either gone or relocated.... Any interference with the availability of cheesy chips can only be regarded as one huge step backwards.... I don’t think that side of the clubhouse is changing Greg’s. Not in shape anyway, a cosmetic update maybe but no whole knock through as I understand. If that disgrace of a social club from 1976 is still in existence come the start of the season then there really will be uproar.

Maybe the reason we haven't had our pre season fixtures released could be related to the MEM tent revamp ?. It is only 5-7 weeks away from two possible friendlies against Prem / championship teams. A mate told me ( I didn't go ) that the away terrace gates were locked in 2016 v Swansea and they brought over 1000 ??. It caught the club out a little!.
A 'big club' could be risky if work isn't completed in away end and a lesser team might only bring 200 like say Preston or Barnsley. Just a thought !

I guess the work on the pitch must also be a factor as it seems(?) a bigger job than last summer's.

From the club website:
”Despite the World Cup being just around the corner, and next season’s fixtures are being released in just over two weeks, thoughts are already turning to next season.
With that in mind, the Club is making every effort to improve the matchday experience here at The Memorial Stadium.
Arising from the fan Survey that was completed last season, supporters indicated that a new clubhouse bar would be important in enhancing their matchday experience. Keeping that in mind, the Club are pleased to announce that the refurbishment of the Clubhouse Bar is well underway.
The work, undertaken by Barrs Court Contstruction and Your Electrical, will focus on opening up the space around the bar, installing an island bar in the middle – giving it a vibrant feel with a view of the pitch from all areas of the bar, that will in turn significantly increase the capacity on a matchday, while offering a more efficient service to customers.
As part of the installation of the new bar - an access point from the North Terrace has been included in the plans that will offer supporters an entrance straight into the facility during half-time.
In addition, toilet facilities will be increased and access will be made available from inside the bar areas. The Bristol Room Bar at the end of the clubhouse will remain in place - benefiting from a refurbishment ahead of the new season.
The work and demolition on the current structure started last week - with the work scheduled to finish well ahead of the start of our league campaign.
As part of these changes, the Supporters’ Club bar will now be hosted in the Bristol Room bar and the newly refurbished main Clubhouse Bar will become open to all supporters to make use of the additional capacity.
As well as increasing the matchday capacity, the new facilities will also provide the opportunity for the Club to maximise revenue which will, in turn, increase the playing budget available to manager Darrell Clarke.
The changes to the Clubhouse Bar are part of a series of redevelopments taking place across the Memorial Stadium this summer. The Club will be releasing more information on some of the other updates in due course, across our official channels.”

All sounds positive - what's not to like. Seems they are doing as much as they can to improve the match day experience through listening to the fans gripes re queues and access etc. Must say I like the fact there will be access straight off the thatchers end

Good on the club for responding so quickly to the survey. Sounds like a big step forward - at least within the constraints of being stuck in the existing stadium.

Good stuff and the first real investment in the stadium since the supporters funded the roof over home end terrace.

Makes you wonder how we are paying for this as according to posters on here they don't have a pot to water in #InWaelWeTrust

It's already been stated that all these improvements will pay for themselves within a year

Sounds quite impressive.
Never quite understood the need to have that back bar where people put their heads through a 2x2M hole to get a pint - Assuming thats what is meant by opening up the bar so there is a view of the pitch from all areas of the bar.
Hopefully the aircon is improved as a part of this refurb.

Does anyone know if the bar under The Dribuild is staying? I believe that the plan is/was to swap it with the shop so that the shop is accessible to everyone right up to KO.

Hopefully the aircon is improved as a part of this refurb. Happy about this. However there are a couple of bits I don't understand: 1) Access from North Terrace - There always was. What is needed is several entry and exit points as it becomes a bit of a crush everyone trying to get in from different directions. 2) Will be able to see the pitch - Doesn't the football league rules state that you cannot drink in sight of the pitch. Does that mean when the shutters will be down or only opened for half time?
