Cole has good technique, pace, power, can score with his head and feet and is young enough to improve further. If you don't think we will sign any of those, is there anyone you think we might sign? Why is his goal record so poor and why did he fail miserably at wigan if hes all you say he is? No idea who we will sign as i dont follow other teams much but i think it will be a player nobody has mentioned. If we sign 2 strikers one of them will be a young loan signing. Because Wigan tended to play a 4-2-3-1 with Will Grigg (a £1.3mil purchase) upfront on his own and most strikers at this level would find it hard to remove him from the team after he scored 26 goals. His record is 22 goals in 58 starts for Fleetwood, 6 goals in 14 starts for Bradford, 3 goals in 5 starts for MK Dons and 7 goals in 17 starts for Barnsley. For England it's 2 goals in 5 apps for the U16s, 3 goals in 9 apps for the U17s, 1 goal in 1 app for the U18s and 1 goal in 2 apps for the U19s. Is that record really so poor?

Scunthorpe manager Nick Daws says that the club would look to bring Ivan Toney back to Glanford Park for a third loan spell, if the striker was made available for loan by Newcastle United.
“Ivan Toney is very much in our thoughts but these things aren’t easy to get across the line. If we get an opportunity we will be in the market for it.”

Why would tom eaves move sideways to a similar club? wouldnt make sense. Why the love in with devante cole whose record is pretty ordinary in terms of goals? I dont think we will sign eaves, cole, toney or doidge. Cole has good technique, pace, power, can score with his head and feet and is young enough to improve further. If you don't think we will sign any of those, is there anyone you think we might sign? Hi Pirate, did you notice the evil post article on possible striking replacements? They managed to name ten without referring to your two preferences! I think your two are better than their ten with Cole the more likely to be prised away on a permanent deal. Still Tommy W may surprise us all with an off the wall signing from his extensive list

To be fair, those goals weren't just scored in those starting appearances, they were scored off the bench too. So if you look at appearances, it takes a bit of gloss of: 22 goals in 94 appearances for Fleetwood, 6 goals in 24 appearances for Bradford, 3 goals in 15 appearances for Mk Dons, and 7 goals in 23 appearances for Barnsley.Don't get me wrong, it is still fairly decent and I would be interested in him but it just shows how you can skew the facts to suit your argument.

Like you say, still decent. It isn't just the goals he offers, it's the whole package of technique, pace, power, aerial ability and all of those qualities occupy the minds of defenders and create space for other players to exploit. If we are going down the loan route then I reckon Reo Griffiths (Tottenham), Tyreece John-Jules (Arsenal) and Tyrese Campbell (Stoke) are ones that would be worth enquiring about.

That’s a bloody good record much better than Ellis ratio sign him up.

Griffiths has apparently signed a contract with Lyon and i imagine Campbell is gonna feature for stoke a lot this season

I think now more than ever, we will see the intentions of our owners. We have money in the bank from the sale of Ellis and we are severely lacking firepower. If now isn’t the time for us to break our transfer record, set over 20 years ago, I don’t know if we ever will. It needs to be the right player though. With respect to Nichols, another new signing struggling this season, like TN did last last season and we could be in for a difficult season. Devante Cole would probably be my choice but I think we are more likely to be looking down the league pyramid rather than up, unless it’s a loan.

Peterboro hold the trump card at the moment ie 5 million from Marriott and more when Maddison is sold. Teams with strikers for sale are inflating their prices to silly figures so we have to hope Posh replace Marriott quickly and then at least we will be on a level playing field with other Div 1 teams who are all buzzing around the same players widely touted on this site.
For what its worth I think Eoin Doyle would be a good fit into our squad, a good solid track record, not too pricey either. His style would also give more space to our other strikers

While I understand the concern, and I agree that we need at least one striker (target man), probably 2. People saying that we need 2 strikers as starters is ridiculous when we really have no idea how good Gavin Reilly is. And of course he is a gamble as he hasn’t played in this country, but DC has seen a lot more of him than we have so maybe if DC has faith in him then we should too. Just remember, MT was also an unknown and a gamble when he first came to us, and I know he is now strongly disliked but he turned out to be one hell of a player for us for the 2 and a half years he was here. No, but we knw how bad Nicholls is

Apparently we have made an enquiry about James Norwood who is at Tranmere. Wasn’t this the same player who turned us down to go to FGR in the conference years? He used to play for us

On wiki it says 17 goals from 77 app at fleetwood, regarding wigan dont they have other strikers at the club? i mean is will grigg that good and does he never get injured? Grigg couldnt score to save his life last time out in the championship so you would think wigan would want cole to stay. I just dont think we will sign him or he will want to come here. LIke i said i reckon it will someone other than cole, doidge and toney but time will tell.

He used to play for us I don't think we did and no, he definitely didn't play for us. That was Norburn. Norwood was the big time charlie who kept putting stuff on twitter, making us think he was signing for us.

Except that when he quotes ellis or a player he dosnt like he includes substitute appearances but when its devante cole he only quotes his goal record from games he started. Distorting the facts actually.

What is your point? Do you personally not feel he is someone we should go for, or do you just like picking holes for the sake of it?
Whichever way its presented I would still sign him, especially when you compare to what we currently have
