Worried for this season. We can’t carry on conceding goals and hope for a turn in fortunes. Where is Partington? Rollin was praised at Swindon. Is he any worse than what we have? If you’re good enough... I think Rollin still injured from his last game at Swindon but DC never talks of injuries so we won't know how serious or when he's likely to be back. Interested if anyone more ITK has any news about the lad. allegedly Rollin had a bit of road rage recently, so don't know if they may be an issue for the club

I thought we were out managed today, the opposition fully deserved the win. I thought our new striker did well and is different to what we have had in recent years. Not sure why our 21 goal striker spent the afternoon sitting on the bench. For me our best formation is 4-4-2 with SP and GR on the field from the start, with the team playing on the front foot

Certainly second best today, got exactly what we deserved. In summary looked poor at the back and never looked paticularly threatening going forward...
That said, Payne, Rodman and Bennett worked hard and stood out as having a bit of quality.
Upson gave the ball away constantly and struggled to pick a pass. Craig looked like he was running in sand - can't see him doing at this level

Very frustrating afternoon, for me DC made two mistakes which ended up costing us the game. The first was taking Upson off who looked best midfielder in the first half, why Ollie Clarke wasn’t taken off I just don’t know, went missing far too often and it really cost us. The second mistake was taking off Craig when we were chasing the game. Broadbent, Lockyer and Clarke looked completely out of their depth playing as a three with Bennett and Sercombe unable to give them much support, Accrington should have scored within seconds of DC making the change. I appreciate DC wanted to get at them but having 3 defenders on the pitch for the last twenty minutes and no proper full backs really cost us.
Our two new signings Payne and Upson looked good, Payne is what we have missed for the last couple of years, gave Accrington’s defenders a really tough time of it, capping off a good performance with a goal. Upson looks assured in the centre of midfield and always found the right pass.
To copy one of DC much used phrases, we just simply weren’t good enough in either box today and we lost as a result of it. Accrington has a few decent players but were there for the taking and we just didn’t cause them enough problems. The two fullbacks returning from injury can’t come sooner enough because if we don’t find a successful way of playing, I fear we could struggle this season.

Just home in darkest Somerset and in a foul mood. Pretty awful performance against an Accrington side who were well up for it and deserved their win. Cancelled my evening out with the good lady and decided to stay at home. Will spend my evening looking out of the lounge window and shaking my fist and mouthing obscenities at the passers-by. I will feel better by Tuesday.

What a disorganised mess that was. At one point we had Rodman and Bennet both playing right wing with sercombe left wing. Lots to work on, we didn’t seem to have a plan or anything and the formation seemed to constantly change with nobody knowing what they were supposed to be doing. Accrington fully deserved the win and would have been gutted if it had finished 1-1. Lots of angry Gas on here tonight no doubt but it’s early days.

A real mixed bag but ultimately very poor.
Some fits and starts of quality.
Slocombe did ok. Can’t blame him for either goal. Some distribution issues. I do wander what he says when there’s no RB.
J Clarke. Great assist. But probably shouldn’t have been playing given we went with Craig on the left. Feels strange seeing those two as fullbacks with Danny on the bench. Caught out on the 2nd goal. Got the exposed defence was to blame.
Locks. Does his individual defending brilliantly, but needs to get a partnership going with someone. The defence was cut often when accy were left to attack it.
Broadbent- grew into the game, but his distribution is too slow. Pass short and quick more often.
Craig. Not much wrong defensively but he’s a CB for me. And with Clarke on the right we didn’t have the movement we have had at full back.
Upson. Bad match, good player. Not his day.
O Clarke. Overall poor. Got stuck in the battle of the game and didn’t get forward enough. I fear a year of being a defensive midfield has caught him out. He needs to focus more on his ball play.
Sercs. Not great. Too many blazed shots.
Bennett. Worst game I’ve seen him play. Shame. But shouldn’t be playing in the hole atm. I’m not saying never- but IMO were changing too much too early. He’s wasted with his back to goal.
Rodman, surprised he came off. Thought he played ok. Not amazing but decent.
Payne. Decent. He’ll score more goals than Elis because he spends more time with both legs on the pitch. But he won’t win as many long balls as Elis and we played loads.
Subs: all ok, but the system became crazy.
Overall, some promising players. But for the first time I think DC is getting wrong. Fortunately, he’s not stubborn and has the capacity to change it. We’ll get there.

Started off slowly again and gave ourselves a mountain to climb conceding yet another early goal. Shocking defensively and too many long balls from Broadbent, Lockyer and Craig.
No 7 Clark and 11 McConville caused us all sorts of problems, but we gave them both far too much time and space.
We could barely string two or three passes together, whereas Accrington managed to play some neat one and two touch football. We improved a bit as the first half wore on, but Accy deservedly led at the break.
I thought Payne worked hard without much support. Couldn't really miss from a pinpoint James Clarke cross, but he deserved that goal if only for his work rate closing down defenders and battling away on his own.
Rodman did ok and had a few promising moments and I was surprised he was taken off. Broadbent and Lockyer disappointing with their distribution and positioning at times. Craig is not a left back for me and looks poor in the role. Sercs on the left? Just no!
DC needs to look at himself today with his tactics and players out of position.
Credit to Accrington because on the balance of play I thought they deserved the win.

We missed the outlet and width lee brown provides today, hopefully tariq-holmes will provide that? Need loan cover at left back as no one seems sure when new left back will be match fit. DC won't say as usual. Someone suggested October which is quite a long time. Could Kelly really be any worse than Craig was today? I just don't know how he played so many games for Millwall. Plus why did DC offer Leads a new contract when he's clearly lost his way. I can't understand why it's so hard to sign a decent FB's when other clubs don't seem to have a problem.

Well that was a bit worrying even for this rose tinter!played like a typical relegation side and it was sooooo disappointing .There was no conviction in any of our play and team played as if they hoped things would happen instead of making it happen. One example was Sercs who didn't look at all happy on the left and only came to life when Lines came on and allowed him to play right side, but thats just one example, a few of the team done the odd good thing but all the team were guilty of passing errors and poor decision making. Our goal came as a complete surprise and instead of spurring us on to a rousing finale it had the opposite affect and Stanley got a deserved winner, without themselves being anything great.Stefan Payne done ok , worked hard, won a few headers, guilty like the rest of poor control but all in all a promising debut and best of a poor bunch.Having said that i think we will miss Ellis more than we thought as i believe he was a great influence around the place with his banter and wise cracks and helped to create the right ambiance among the squad which seemed to be missing today, i think Sercs and Kyle especially fed of his personality. Reasons to be cheerful? its our usual start to season, this time last year we lost 1-4 at home! Plymouth had terrible start last year , grass was green!no great hold ups re ticket system! we are able to write these things on here ! Keep smiling Gas and trust DC , though i do wish we had more fire power on the pitch from the start and wonder why Reilly didn't get the chance? anyway Wycombe next is it? a cert 3 pts for us, thunder and lightening permitting!up the Rovers!

City took 753 to Bolton today.
We took 843 on our last visit, which was also a night match.

Looked a disjointed team to me, Rodman can beat players and looked strong, tactical change but poor decision for me. Sercs is wasted on the wing, Payne was full of running and strong, liked his interview afterwards that trying and working hard is a given. Needed support, need LB cover and move TC back to centre half. The pitch looks great but too many players off their A game, no dramas though DC will get it right. UTG

Defensively we look very suspect and I think it needed improving more than what we have done.
Sercombe was the biggest disappointment for me today. A player I rate highly but he had a shocker today. Gave the ball away far too often.

I went to the match thinking we had a quality midfield that would create plenty of chances and that we wouldn't have the quality to put them away. As it was, Payne looked like what we have been looking for, and Nichols looked good when he came on, I can see a nice pairing there. Unfortunately the midfield didn't happen. The main problem was sercombe out of position. Personally, I don't think there is too much wrong, but could do with sincs back.

Only just got in and haven't read other comments yet but here's my take.
Defence is a shambles and my biggest concern because with the players currently available I'm not sure we can do much to improve it. I know Exeter was a friendly but the warning signs were there and we've looked equally suspect in our first 2 league games. Teams look like scoring almost every time they attack us. I'm not going to pick out individuals because they were all as bad as each other. Desperately need a new CB and LB if we're going to stay in L1.
Midfield was poor but this I believe can be corrected by playing people in their prefered positions. Some fans have been raving about Upson but I'm yet to be convinced. He had a decent game at Peterborough but I thought he was awful today. He barely made a tackle, gave the ball away numerous times and every set piece went straight to an Accrington player. Sercombe was also poor but to get the best out of him he has to play in the middle. Bennett looked a bit lost playing behind Payne but his best performances have comes on the wing. I'd like to see Bennett on the left, Rodman on the right and Sercombe and O.Clarke in the middle. The way we're defending I think we need at least 1 midfielder that can tackle and with Sinclair out that really just leaves O.Clarke.
Plus point from today was Payne. As you know I had me reservations about him but he put in a good shift and deserved his goal. The only player to really come out with much credit.
We're lucky the loan window is still open because we've still got an opportunity to bring in a dominant CB and quality LB. Whether we do or not remains to be seen but without them it's hard to see us winning many matches this season. I just hope DC can see the problem and has the budget to get the new defenders we so desperately need.
