if the new family stand was doubled in size and a similar stand placed where the away terrace, away fans could then be given the South stand avoiding the need from loss of space through segregation, it would also mean that for the first time in the clubs history we would have a stadium that is covered. I know the stadium would look a bit tacky but do you think this is an options people would support baring in mind there appears to be no plans for a new stadium in the near future or money for major improvements to the mem. Perhaps we need to be a bit more innovative. Perhaps move the boundary fence out a couple or so metres to accomodate the pasty huts (no big deal) - build a low rise modular construction stand to accomodate say 400 - try and retain most of the terracing. Look for up to a hundred supporters at a £1k up front donation each, in return for a season ticket in the stand for maybe four years (sort of debenture). I'd be happy to donate my £1k - (maybe £2k for two seats). I'm sure we are going to be at the Mem for at least that timescale. Could be a sort of model to get supporters to buy into the club - not necessarily what I'm saying here but just an idea. The plan being, leaving at least 75% of the stand available to supporters to buy season tickets or pay on the day at full price. Over to you Mr Gorringe!! Problem is the club won’t gain anything financially if the fans are simply paying for the stand upfront over 4 years, as it stands the club is gaining 100% from the 300 fans using the new tent. Plus moving the fence a couple of meters would probably cost more than the present stand cost and would require planning permission. Although why can’t the pasty huts be moved?

You have a point, but - I thought the new family tent has a capacity of only c 180. Presumably, there has to be one adult per child - so effectively if we base on 90% occupancy of 160 that makes a total of 80 adults paying full price - the other 80 is a make up of children under 11 (£1) or under 16 (£5). Doesnt look like best economic use to me for the amount of space it's taking up and certainly looks as though it has reduced the overall capacity of the stadium. The club has made provision to accomodate a certain number of children which would easily be accomodated with many more full paying adults in a 400 seater modular construction paid for as I've suggested. Certainly it would be easier to move the pasty huts.

I wouldn't think that the new stand increases attendance other than, perhaps, for games which otherwise would have sold out. The majority of occupants are most likely to have shifted from elsewhere in the ground. So the increased income for most games will be small. Even for soldout games the capacity of the East Terrace should, for reasons of H&S, be lessened.

Well thanks for your input, my idea is that if the away fans are given all of the south stand then they can be charged more as they are sitting, a new stand on the old away terrace could be used by home fans but there would be the option when there are teams with large followings for this stand to be given over to away supporters, the extended family stand would mean the whole ground would be under cover. Although capacity would fall a bit we can never have full capacity due to segregation, well with these proposals there will be no capacity reduction if we got a full house. I will approach the club I am prepared to put a bit of money into this myself.

Hot air balloons as well. Just need a couple, with a gantry suspended between the two. Hoist it up and fans in the gantry will get that Camp Nou experience. It's a winner.
Obviously we'd have to have a tailor-made bespoke construction. Probably best to get the French to manufacture it.

I suspect your "blanket" is moulded to the shape of your seated image, covered in crumbs and spittle externally. As for the underside I couldn't possibly imagine what keeps it whole

I new I would upset a few with my suggestion, but with the owners just happy to keep things ticking over and trying to limit what they put into the club , any improvements have to come from supporters and sponsors .

I posted earlier in the thread about this.
Why should me and my old man not be able to come and watch Rovers, just because on the odd occasion the club might get a few extra in?
There's a capacity for away fans, tough on them!
I too would approach the club and try to make sure this stupid idea never materialise.

I came on hear to get fans opinions on my idea , just looking at ways to increase income and improve the stadium, but if people don't like the idea I won't take it any further, I am sure I can find somewhere else to spend my money.

As we have seen from this thread, if you are going to displace fans then you have to offer a better option than they currently have. I'm not sure many of us with STs down there would want to be stuck over in the away corner.

Have you approached Tom Gorringe with your offer of investment/sponsorship? I personally think that giving the whole of the sarf stand over to away supporters is not likely to happen, with the East and West stands almost all season tickets where will you shoehorn Hugo and his fellow spectators? Just notice you advocate another stand on the away terrace; it cant be much bigger than the current Family stand due to sightlines so my suspicion is that is not going to help much. How many season ticket holders are there in the South Stand? All the best Grumpy of sarf bristol

I don't like the idea of giving away supporters covered areas when you don't need to, it creates a lot of noise and can make a good atmosphere for them and their team, leave them out in the rain I say where the chants just drift up in to the sky....

Would be no bad thing for the Mem atmosphere if the Blackthorn could hear the away fans, IMO.
