John Lock, who was Chairman of the Young Pirates for many years, including some very difficult times for the club, sadly passed away earlier this week, aged 76.
His son, Daniel, has asked if there could be a minute's applause in memory of John on the 76th minute tomorrow.
John was the Chairman when Rovers were at Twerton (took over from Bernie), and put so much time into organising things for the Young Pirates. After the move to The Mem, John and the YP committee kept things going - running it from the boots of their cars, before the club sorted them with a portacabin. My son (and me!) was one of the many who benefited from the well organised away trips, competitions in the YP room before the match, "Meet the Players" days and Christmas parties. John always looked out for everybody, and I'm so pleased that the club recognised his contribution with a presentation on the pitch last season, along with Pete Brommage.
Please spread the word if you can.
RIP John
