Torquay woud be 2-1 down if it wasn't for another shocking refereeing decision.

they were both penalties, hard working player but needs to find the net Think you'll find penalties hit the net too..and we missed our previous one (Browner). Credit where it's due. I wasnt commenting about him not deserving credit i was shocked someone felt him scoring 2 penalties meant we no longer needed to address our goalscoring issue. Like other fans im desperate to get out of the mess we were left in last season but to go up we need to impove the goal scoring from the strikers. There will be lots of games between now and April where that will nake the difference.

Taylor was poor today, the team were poor, how they didn't score after they hit the bar i don't know,we need a goal scorer and a midfield because they were pants today, only Trottman had a decent game What has happened to Martin and Brown down the leftside i do not know, but our wing play today was non existant A point away from home but an awful performance again imo

very enjoyable game, very even,i think we missed sinclair and we didnt pass the ball very well but we did look dangerous when we attacked,,aldershot played nice football, both sets of fans were very noisy. both sides were very commited,,,trotman very strong again and a nice cameo from leadbitter when he came on wide right for monkhouse, that boy has pace and caused problems.

Decent point IMO, but always disappointing not to win when you come from behind to go 2-1 up away from home.
Sounded like we missed a decent chance to make it 3-1, but also that we could have lost it but for some great Mildenhall saves and poor finishing from Williams.
A week on the training pitch without a game will do us good now I think, and hopefully see an improvement in the performances as the last few haven't been too brilliant.
Need a winger, creative midfielder and striker IMO. Balanta could be that winger if he can get himself fit and up to speed.

just a footnote,,andy monkhouses 500th game today [league and conference] and 70 goals not bad for a midfield player, not many players play 500 games in the top 5 divisions so well done andy

Lockyer banned for FGR game. FFS His own fault. He makes far too many badly timed tackles too right. 5 yellows this quickly is not an accident. blessing in disguise I think as Leadbitter needs some action, and his defensive frailties are less of a risk at home.

2 in 2 who said we needed a new striker? uh? you mean Taylor? 2 pens, one of which only just went in. Today's was better as he sent the goalie the wrong way, so the accuracy (which was no better than Tuesdays) didn't matter.

Didn't go to the game, but reading through this thread on Sunday morning is fascinating! Brings it all to life. Special thanks to Cantankerous Gas for the photos.

We're climbing the table and progress is definitely being made. Penalty or no penalty Matty is scoring and gaining confidence which will help him in front of goal which is the only thing missing from his relentless hard work As for Tom - 5 yellows? Well I'm not surprised. He works his socks off and is determined in the tackle If you saw Forest Green away he nullified the best player on the pitch (Frear) with his no nonsense approach. Gasheads have always asked for players to give 100% and they'll be happy. Well that's what we're starting to see at last and I for one won't be complaining. At last progress is being made. UTG

Lockyer should come back in two weeks and replace Parkes at centre back. Then we'll see the best of him.
Amazed that fans are not as positive as they could be! Gerry Francis won Div 2 by remaining unbeaten at home and scrapping for points away! We are in a perfect place to launch an assault to the top!!!

Under Francis it was for a place in the championship perhaps people are less excited because unlike then we are not over performing for our potential ?

UTG Jon, I'm not sure what point you are trying to make- Is 5 bookings in 16 games a stat to be pleased about - whether it's Tom Lockyer or Tom Parkes ? Yes we want them to show commitment and passion but they are also pro footballers and have to use their brains and skill too !

Toms a roll your sleeves up and get stuck in kind of player which is what we want. I'd rather he picked up those bookings than shirked his tackles and we conceded goals becsuse of it.

Tom is doing fine especially in a position he doesn't favour. His no nonsense approach has been an assett in our progression up the table in my opinion. Of course we'd all like to see fantastic football, but he has a job to do and that is to help us out of this god foresaken division, we'd love a style and brand of football easy on the eye, but we have to do what needs to be done to get promoted.
If he lightens up his style he may not make those last ditch tackles that have helped us become tight at the back, we don't concede many and we need it to stay that way cause it may have escaped a few peoples attention but were not scoring for fun at the other end.
This division is rough and ready, we need battle, endeavour and determination more than ever and if Tom has to perform an Ian "Jock" Alexander role to help us progress so be it, A "Jock" type player didn't do us any harm in 1990 and it won't do us any harm now.
Support the lad. UTG
