What with our league form, position and various problems throughout the club should we rethink our checkatrade position re boycotting. Maybe it’s time to forget the bigger picture and really try to get behind the boys in this competition! It would be a lovely gesture to turn up en mass to try and urge the boys towards further success for our wounded leader D.C (if he’s still here) At least this would be a positive in amongst so many negatives at present and the momentum could rub off to the league form! Just an idea! Not for me, sorry. Checkatrade can go swivel.

Very short trip for me. Irrespective of the merits of the competition I will be there and pay my £1! Hoping I won't be too lonely in the away end. With a clear run it's only an hour from the bridge to the Liberty, although for those going don't forget to add an extra half hour or so for the delays at the tolls and the approach to the Brynglas tunnels. I went to the West ham U23 game, 50 hours flying time. I respect a persons choice either way though. last time I went to Swansea in this comp there were 26 away fans.

I wouldn't cross the landing to watch these games BUT I do think DC should start the game with the 11 he intends to play v Doncaster. Not just about trying to get confidence back (presuming our first team can beat Swansea's kids?) but also time we stop making changes every game and try to get some consistency going.

I agree with OP. This competition has taken an extra significance. Doing well in it, could be the confidence boost that we need. Also any extra money won't go amiss (although I doubt DC will see much of it).

Stoke at Port Vale in this next week.Vale have sold 400 and Stoke their full allocation of 4000 .Monty often on Radio Stoke back from injury and scoring two league goals this week.Vale it seems not interested in this competition. A little bit of sick just came up when reading this. To those that support this disgrace of a competition, would you be happy for our next competitive derby to be against Bristol City U21?

Also any extra money won't go amiss (although I doubt DC will see much of it). We just blew the chance of 80k prize money (plus more possibly) from the FA cup. I don't think the financial incentives or their significances are really driving performances at the moment....

The 400 Vale tickets are probably Stokies as well. Are you going ? Vale should have the last laugh by fielding their own youth team. Think the fine is only 5k max.

When City eventually come in their thousands to laugh at us because we are playing their 'U23/ do what you like' team against our 'play your firsts or else' team - who that goes will be be able to hide from the fact we are being ridiculed?

I remember like it was yesterday when Vale and Stoke were on par in what is now the Championship in the early/mid 90s. This scenario for me encapsulates why this competition has to go.

Short trip for 3 of us living in South wales that's 4 of us marshy! Not for me budd, I’ve watched enough sh** lately. I won’t be adding this abortion of a competition to my portfolio.

I could not even begin to think how bad it would be loosing to the teds kids whilst we play our strongest side! Don’t think it would be possible for the gap to get even bigger than that! Vale should play the kids and pay the fine. The gate receipts from the 4K Stoke fans should cover it! Also the EFL are covering all loses that clubs are making anyway. I would love to know how many millions they are having to fork out to cover the losses!

I find this so strange. I agree the format and continual changes of the competition is stupid and ridiculous at times, but this is a football club. The goal (aside from the role the club plays in the community and how it represents us all) should always be to win trophies. The benefits of a cup run both on morale and bank balance are more than enough reason to push for it. When it was the Paint Trophy and we got to the Millennium Stadium it was a great day for us all (result aside). Why would we not want to do that again? A day out at Wembley, a potential trophy and funds for DC's team and ambitions? 100% should be pushed for.

It's not actually about our club it's about all FL clubs in general and about the potential to put prem b sides into the football league pyramid system.... I thought we all kind of got the issue with what was wrong with the concepts of this....

Because it's not about Bristol Rovers but the future of lower league football, i will not attend, even the final if we got there.

I thought we all kind of got the issue with what was wrong with the concepts of this.... A point I totally understand. But then what is people's main issue with that? I honestly think people seem to have the biggest issue with it because they're afraid of losing to a youth team. Quite frankly, if you're afraid of that then it shows your team isn't that great to begin with. Is it any more embarrassing than losing to teams in non-league? Why not try to show what we're made of and beat them off the park? I think we need to start pushing and showing a winning mentality at this club. Tin pot or not, success breeds success. We should be looking to maximise any opportunity to win trophies and increase income, both through prize money and ticket sales.
