Bonham 6 a couple of good saves ,hampered by the static defence in front of him Partington 4 very poor, he should have been subbed instead of James Clarke J. Clarke 5.5 he was doing ok and wrongly subbed Lockyer 5 shaky Craig 5 no better than Lockyer Martin 5.5 adequate Lines 5 a couple of decent runs but didnt affect the game enough O. Clarke 5 a frustrating game, tried hard but nothing worked for him today Sercombe 6 the best of a poor bunch. Nichols 5.5 some nice touches in build up play, useless in the box. Payne 4.5 a waste of money Subs: Bennett 4.5 unlucky with his shot that hit the post , but contributed little. Rodman 5 he should have come on much earlier. Jakubiak 4.5 no impact. Crowd 6 considering everything a good turnout, soaked and fed up! Ref 6 decent Doncaster 8 the best side seen at the Mem this season. in truth it was a stroll in the park for them.

Bonham: 6. Did ok but not looking quite as secure as he did a few weeks back.
Partington: 2. Shocker of a game. I like Joe but today he struggled defensively and failed to get forward enough too. J Clarke: 4. Not on long but did ok. No more, no less. Lockyer: 4. Not at his best by a long way. Craig: 4. I'm a big fan but this was his worst game by a mile. Martin: 6. I thought he did ok and certainly going forward put in some cracking crosses in the first half that hungrier strikers may have benefited from.
Lines: 4. Again, I'm a fan but today Linesy was anonymous. O Clarke: 4. Struggled to influence the game in any way. Sercombe: 7 (MoM). Worked hard throughout and showed some glimpses of quality. Game may have been different if he'd scored.
Nichols: 5. Worked really hard and did some good stuff. However, he has to score goals but doesn't. Payne: 4.5. Not a bad game despite being withdrawn but looks as likely as Nichols to score. And therein lies the problem.
Bennett: 4. Never really got going. Rodman: 4. As Bennett. Jakubiak: 4. As Bennett and Rodman.
Donny: 8. They scored 4 away from home so deserve a good mark. The lad Wilks who got a couple was very impressive. Ref: 7. Did ok. Bit soft early on but otherwise ok.

Up until the second goal we were in a contest and showing some fight. Just before half time we have that farce, go into the changing rooms and not bother coming out again. Almost as big a capitulation as Shrewsbury away last season, a poor, poor effort from the boys in white with a splash of blue.
Bonham 5 Partington 4 Clarke J 4 Craig 4 Lockyer 3 Martin 4 Lines 4.5 Clarke O 3 Sercombe 5.05 Nichols 3 Payne 3
Bennett 4 Rodman 3 Jakubiak 2

Bonham 5 All marks for players include one for turning up and being generous Partington 3 J. Clarke 4 Lockyer 4 Craig 4 Martin 4
Lines 3.5 O. Clarke 3.5 Sercombe 6
Nichols 3 Payne 3
Subs: Bennett 2.5 Rodman 3 Jakubiak 2.5
Crowd 7 Deserves so much better Ref 6 Done ok Doncaster 8 So much better than us in all departments and won the game so easily
Rovers. To early to say relegation but we must be one of the odds on favourites unless something drastic happens. This does not necessarily mean replacing the manager, but perhaps a Lennie Lawrence type to help DC and getting rid of some of the present useless coaches and faceless hierarchy immediately, as well of some players in January.

Bonham 4 not much chance with the goals Partington 1 between him and leadbitter we have the worse fullbacks in league football Lockyer 4 wales international come off it Martin 5 thought he done well 1st half some great crosses but nobody on the end of them Craig 3 so slow looked like he was wearing divers boots Lines 3 no pace hardly touch the ball Clarke 4 always try’s but not good enough J Clarke 3 just not good enough for this standard Sercombe 6 the only player with ability in the side Payne 1 He really is not up to it needs to be shipped out Nichols 1 for keeping his kit clean Subs 2 no impact at all DC 1 for his honest assessment afterwards, team selection awfull . His obsession with Nichols will effect his future career in football but he himself has ruined Nichols career, he should have been sent out on loan a year ago to get some confidence but by continuing to lay him has drained everything out of him, he must be suicidal

Bonham 6 - couple of good saves
Partington 1 - his positional play was of a man who had never played fullback before. Weak defensively and offered nothing going forward. Clarke would have done a much better job at right back. Leadbitter would had been a better attacking option (Had a good first half against Swansea U21. J. Clarke 5.5 Lockyer 4 - is this really an international player? Craig 4 - looked slow and nervous Martin 4.5 - had a few good games recently but struggled today
Lines 5 - wasteful O. Clarke 5 - tried hard but too many mistakes. The shot which hit the post could have changed things. Sercombe 5.5 - not at his best but better than most of the rest
Nichols 3 - not up to his recent standard. Offside a few times and no end product Payne 4.5 - In the first half was more involved than of late but had enough chances to ensure that we did not go into the break losing
Subs: Bennett 5 - a few good moments but no end product. Unlucky with the one that hit the inside of the post. Rodman 4 - did not add much Jakubiak 3 - was worse than Payne. Marcus Stewart explained in mid-week his faults and why he doesn't start. Was a reasonably explanation.
Crowd 6 Ref 6 Doncaster 8 - they had one of those days when things go right. Unlucky for us. Our performance was a long way from being as dire as people suggest. We had a decent number of shots (more than them), greater possession than them and a lot more corners than then. On another day with a bit of luck at the right times we could have won this game. Heads dropped in the second half and the quality suffered. Clarke needs to pick his technically best team and stick with it. Bennett, Rodman etc have the quality and can get us to mid-table with a bit of luck. Those without the quality need to go in January (Nicholls, Payne, Partington etc etc). Need a small quality squad. Maybe ten out, four in.

Results in and Liam Sercombe was Man of the Match for the third time in four league games.
Partington's 2.6 was the second lowest rating of the season, behind Rodman's 2.5 at Shrewsbury
With 3.97, this was Tony Craig's lowest ever rating and after 42 games his first score below 4. However, only three players have gone longer before recording their first sub-4 score. Stuart Sinclair after 88 games, James Clarke after 52 and Rory Gaffney after 45.
Doncaster's 7.73 was the highest rating since Shrewsbury's 8.9 (the highest ever in these threads) at their ground last season.
The starting XI average was 4.2 and the tenth lowest such ratings in these threads. The top (or bottom) games are Shrewsbury A 16/17 (2.6), Shrewsbury A 17/18 (2.8), Bath City Cup (3.7), Altrincham A (3.8), Braintree A (3.9), Bradford A 17/18 (3.9), Chesham Cup (4.1), Charlton A 16/17 (4.1) and Eastleigh H (4.1)
Bonham 5.0
Partington 2.6 J. Clarke 4.8 Lockyer 4.0 Craig 4.0 Martin 4.4
Lines 4.1 O. Clarke 3.9 Sercombe 5.5
Nichols 3.7 Payne 3.8
Subs: Bennett 3.5 Rodman 3.6 Jakubiak 3.5
Crowd 5.2 Ref 5.9 Doncaster 7.7

With lots of talk about how many changes Darrell had been making I had started looking at how this varied compared to other seasons. It may be a moot point now, but this is how Darrell's 'tinkering' stacks up against his previous seasons: Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted
